How to unlock the Hot property achievement in F1 2010 - Definitive Guide

I accepted a contract with McLaren but at the time my team (Virgin) was ahead of McLaren in the championship so I didn't get the achievement. But 3 races from the end Virgin had dropped behind McLaren & during an interview I was asked if I had signed for a new team ... I chose the option of replying that I had signed for a new team & the achievement popped up!

Had you already replied saying that in an earlier interview, and restating it got the achievement for you? Or was that the first time you'd gotten it? I'm top of the Drivers and the Constructors at the moment so when I get offered a contract it'll be with a lower placed team...

No, I think I had been asked that question earlier & I said that I was still looking at my options.

What i did is the following: I was racing for Red Bull in season 4, after race 14 i was offered a contract with Ferrari, the current number 2 in the constructor championship. I turned difficulty to expert and kept on crashing my car until Ferrari was number 1 in the constructor championship. When i returned to the paddock, i went to the wating press to give an interview. I was asked if i was happy with my new Ferrari teammate, and i answered i really looked forward to race with him (by answwering this way i confirmed my new contract). When i returned into my trailer, the achievement popped.

easy, choose a 7 season career (because you can only choose from the 3 new teams) and go through all of the races, because your AI team mate isn't very good, it's unlikely he'll score any points so other teams concistancy helps, when contract offers are available, accept one from a team higher than yours, also easier if you don't win all of the races, only score about 350 points (you should still get the achievement and get the achievement for winning the drivers championship)

My solution is useful for those that don't know how to receive a contract from a big team.

Upon choosing a 7-season career and choosing your 1st team (eg. I picked Lotus), you will probably want to win as much races as possible for other achievements. Personnally, I didn't bother with this achievement until after my second season. After season 2, I wondered why I didn't receive offers from bigger teams even though I had won the championship 2 times in a row.

The problem is that the game is not very clear when it comes to choosing a contract. First, you will notice that after every race, you give interviews. The answers to these questions seem to matter, but the real important question will occur after your 12th race. If you've been faring well, the interviewer will ask to identify your main rival. This rival will probably be from a big team like Ferrari, Red Bull, or McLaren. This choice is important, because if you beat your rival at the end of the season, his team will invite you to race for them for 1 season. Now you may not be able to stay with a big team like Ferrari for more than 1 season because of your low driver level, but you will nevertheless get the achievement if the team that you join is placed higher than yours in the constructor series.

This is all good, but I still wasn't getting any offers from my rival's team. I found out that this is because I had already accepted an offer by Lotus earlier in the season. So make sure you keep your options open until the end of the season (after race 19) and you will be offered a chance with your rival's team (as long as you beat him in the driver series).

So, in short, 1) after race 12, choose a rival in the best team, 2) do not choose to sign a contract with a lower team, 3) beat your rival at the end of the season, and 4) accept the big contract after race 19.

You're going to need to complete some of the objectives set by your team each race weekend. These include qualifying and completing races above, or equal to, the position requested by your team. Doing so will increase your reputation level. As it increases, other teams will become interested in securing your services for the following year.

You can check the interest you've attracted from other teams by selecting your agent in the trailer. Also in the trailer, you can see the team standings. Eventually offers will start rolling in. Make sure the contract offer is from a higher placed team, then accept it.
