How to unlock the Opportunist achievement in F1 2011 - Definitive Guide

I found this video on youtube.

Choose Monte Carlo, 20%, Full Damage and Safety Car On. After the start, turn back and wait to crash in the 1st cars of the race, then turn your car to the right way and pit. Easy and fast 15G !

Tried this about 10 times, but didnt work anymore, maybe they patched it? got it anyway, just made a huge mess in the first corner, spinning around other cars as much as possible, eventually the safety car was deployed, and i just pitted.

Yeah I don't think this works any more, same problems as D3LTA ARES. Did the same thing they did though and it popped.

For whatever reason I just could not get the trick on Monza to work, even after 5 attempts.
I then tried Monaco, and got it first time.

On the first lap, at the hotel hairpin (turn 6), come to a stop with your car across the track, totally blocking it. This stops any other car going past (as the track is so narrow), and some cars will crash into the back of each other, bringing out a safety car.
If you were leading into this corner, you should have 23 AI cars stopped on track at this corner!
Then just pit at the end of the lap.

I was given a drive through for this, and I won the race, so you can get the "Slap on the Wrist" achievement in the same race too.

You can manufacture a Safety Car Position in an online race with a friend.

We used Montreal (Canada), full grid of AI (Difficulty doesn't matter)
Damage: Realistic
Collisions: Full
Race Distance: 20% minimum (THIS IS IMPORTANT, You won't get Safety Car if its less than 20%)

As you're coming down the long straight after the hairpin, when you go round the chicane to enter the start finish straight, take yourself out of the race by slamming into the "wall of champions".

Your co-op colleague will be able to pit under the safety car (achievement is instant). Then you can re-start and do it the other way round

as above i will tell you a easier way rather then ramming a car

i picked monza as was suggested by o4forksake

but i did it a little diffrent i found that ramming the car doesnt work all the time but quickly tried a diffrent approach that worked 1st time

in single player mode make sure full damage is on go around the 1st 2 tight corners you hit the stright take a car into the wall at high speed make sure he doesnt spin so gradually take him across the track and along the barriers and pin him while you are both still racing he will at some point hit something and destroy his car leaving you with the safety car out just pit and you have it

Don't know about anyone else big I find it quite difficult to get a safety car. Obviously haven't played the game very long though. From what I've found (I may be wrong but from what I can see) there needs to be 2 cars that are damaged beyond repair and out of the race, on a particular stetch of the track at one point. Therefore, a track like Monaco is best causing a pile-up, then pit while the safety car flag/caution is on screen. I did it before I caught up with the safety car train and didn't lose a place, so got a free pit stop.

Start a race in Grand Prix mode. Put the laps up to at least 20%. Make sure to select Monaco as the track. You'll also have to make sure you put damage on and have the safety car enabled. Now you have two choices. You either wait for someone to have an accident and cause the safety car to come out so you can pit (Having heavy rain on makes this a lot more likely), or you can take matters into your own hands. At turn 5 (the one before the tracks tight hairpin) is an ideal opportunity to cause a pile up. From the start of the race, grab first if you can, then at that corner, hug the right wall going down the hill and park your car sideways across the track so nobody can get past you. Just sit here as the rest of the field gets blocked and as soon as you see "SC" pop on the screen, either drive away, or pause>reset to track. Do a lap and pit at the end of it. As soon as you come in you'll get the trophy.

An alternative method I found which works just as well (but there is a greater risk of getting yourself disqualified or have the race red flagged) is a very wet 20% race at Monza. Have a long race weekend so you can go through qualifying. Now skip it so you start 24th. When the race starts accelerate and don't let go of the throttle. Line yourself up behind a car and ram into the pack as they slow down for the chicane. You'll create absolute carnage and bring the safety car out in no time. If you don't you can just rewind using StartButton.png, replay then square18x18.png and hitting at a different angle. If neither works you can just restart the race.

Since Monaco is obviously the best circuit to trigger the Safety Car, set up a Grand Prix there and make sure you have selected 20% or more in race distance, since the Safety Car can only be triggered in 20%+ races.

Set Safety Car to ON and start the race.

I found that triggering the Safety Car works best at the hairpin (turn 6). Simply stay back a little and when the time is right, accelerate through the middle of the pack and put your car into the hairpin crossways - since no car will be able to pass you a massive line will form, therefore triggering the Safety Car.

When you trigger it a yellow box saying "Safety Car deployed" will show up in the top middle of your screen. As soon as this happens all you have to do is perform a pit-stop and the achievement will pop.
