If you go through the game solo on Easy difficulty, making sure to pick up as many pieces of treasure as you possibly can, you should come out with at least 500,000 in the end (that's a low estimate - I had around 750,000).
Afterwards, you will have unlocked immediate access to all of the Chapters. To quickly earn the rest of your "riches," simply go back through Chapter 9. There is no boss battle associated with the level, and there are only a few instances that offer environmental challenges (a few jumps, some flipping tiles, etc.). The enemies are also quite easy, with the strongest being a variety of human that duel-wields swords, but can be easily bested if attacked from behind, or with the four-star rated pitchfork that you can find early on in the level. If you collect the vast majority of treasure presented to you in a run-through of the Chapter, you can make 300,000 from this single level, making the prospect of earning 1 million not nearly as daunting.

I'm assuming that this is total savings and not collected. Because I've collected 1.3 mil but my saving is about 750K.

You can replay any chapter that you've finished. So once you finish chapter 9, you can go back to town and replay that chapter as many times as you like.

This achievement is easy! Trust me. The fact that your looking at this guide means you either haven't played the game yet, or your game is glitched. Either way you'll get this on your second playthrough.
You only need to amass 1000000 in wealth. That's accumulative. So feel free to upgrade your statue. But i will warn you the money you spend on wells doesn't count towards the achievement.
If your wanting to "grind" this achievement then i agree with andaley and just play level 9. However, i suggest simply playing the game and i promise the achievement will pop up at the end of some random level.
If your game was glitched then i suggest putting the game in again. A patch came out a while back and should have fixed multiple problems with the game. I'd suggest replaying the game or level 9 a few times to reach the 1000000 mark again and the achievement should unlock very soon.

The only solution to mention that it is "amassed" wealth and youare able to upgrade the statue in Taleville without having it cause problems. Solid work.

i actually recieved this achievement after relaying level 9 many times...the achievement unlocked when i had a total collected amount of 3.7 million and 797,650 current savings

This will come during your multiple playthroughs, but if you can't wait just repeat chapter 9 to get 300,000-400,000 in one shot.
