How to unlock the The Superhuman Gambit achievement in Fallout 3 - Definitive Guide

This is probably one of the easiest side quests in the game, especially if you have high speech and high lock pick.

First things first, find Canterbury Commons on the far eastern part of the map (directly east of Regulator HQ). You will witness a fight between "The AntAgonizer" and "The Mechanist", a couple of cheesy fake super-heroes. Once their battle is complete you will be approached by Uncle Roe, he will explain everything and ask you to put a stop to it. Talk to the other folks in town (there's only 4 more of them) and get more information on them.

Head just a bit north along a path and you will find Canterbury Tunnels. This will lead you to the AntAgonizer's lair. The path is very linear but watch out for some booby traps and a few ants. Once you find AntAgonizer deal with her however you want but if you have high speech you can get her to stop rather easy. She will give up the costume and walk away.

Now you can either speak to Uncle Roe and be done with it or head a little south and up a cliff to the Robot Repair Facility to deal with the Mechanist. This place is a little more difficult than the AntAgonizer's lair because of the sentry robots. However, if you have high lock pick skill you can pick the lock on the elevator that leads to the Forge. Take a few steps forward right into the Forge and the Mechanist will start talking to you. If you don't have high lockpick you need to proceed ahead and up the flight of stairs. There are a few sentry bots to deal with. I found that weapons like the assault rifles and pulse grenades very effective. Again, if you have high speech you can convince him to stop pretty easy. You can do it however you want of course.

Head back to Uncle Roe in Canterbury Commons and that's it. I did just about every step in the quest and it took me about 20 minutes. Very easy.

I think you got the directions backwards. I went south and ended up at the Robot Repair Center.

This achievement is marked as missable... Anyone know why? This doesn't seem like something that can be missed.

I just dealt with the AntAgonizer and came back and told Uncle Roe I finished her off after that it gave me the achievement. Only took me about 5 minutes.

My only guess is because it is a side mission and not required to complete the main game. If you don't explore enough, you might "miss" it.

The Fastest way to finish this quest is to just shoot them. You don't get Bad Karma, you get the (600) caps, the costumes, and 3 Dogg will talk about you saving the town from the costumed freaks.
If you kill one and give there costume to the other "Hero" then you will receive a custom weapon, not very good, but neither is the armor.

Sadly the hardest part of this quest is finding Canterbury

if you wish to leave Bad feedback please also leave a comment telling how I can improve my guide thank You.

Just another few tips to maximize the prize of this achievement.

My suggestion is the have lady killer / black widow perk, 75 points to unlock doors and a very hight conversation skill (or modifiers).

Now: talk to uncle Roe to get more caps (from 200 to 400). If you talk to both superheros and persuades them to leave, you'll get 600 form Roe.
Reach the AntAgonizer's lair if you're male (or Robot Repair Facility if you're female).
You can kill the ants in a row, these are very poor foes. When you reach the hideout, talk to AntAgonizer using lady killer ability, she'll give her armour to you. Take it with you and reach Robot Repair Facility.
Eliminate the robots on your left, then turn right: an elevator is on your left, just around the corner. Force it and you're in the Mechanist's hideout.

SAVE the game. Use any ability you can to win a very hard speach check.

Now talk to this crazy man and try to persuade him to leave the city. Reload if you fail.

When you're done, come back to uncle Roe: you've got 600 caps, the achievement.... and 2 two superheroes suit... very funny: now you can act as superhero *LOL*

Upon entering Canterbury Commons you will witness a fight between the Mechanist and the AntAgonizer. Once it finishes, you will be approached by a man named Uncle Roe who will ask you to help stop them from coming around, the only option seeming to be killing one of them. You can head north to kill the Ant lady or south to kill the robot dude. Alternatively, you can use a high Speech skill to convince them to either leave town or give up their careers. Whichever method you choose, return to Uncle Roe to claim your reward.

See The Superhuman Gambit for more specific info.

To start this Quest go to Canterbury Commons, which is to the South East of The Temple of the Union and walk down the main road until you see 2 "Super Heroes" facing-off against each other. After the fight ends in a stalemate they will run off, the townspeople will come out and you will be welcomed by Uncle Roe. During the conversation, Uncle Roe will inform you of the situation and you will get the chance to say you will deal with one or both of them. If your Speech level is high enough, you will be able to get your fee doubled. After saying you will take care of the problem you can either to talk to Roe's Nephew or to Porter, either way you'll learn where they are hiding.

Passing a Speech Challenge, using the Black Widow/Lady Killer Perk or being careful what you say will end the conflict peacefully. It's possible to get both of their Costumes by persuading both parties to end the conflict before you turn in the Quest and not giving either of them the costume belonging to the other. After dealing with both of them, go and claim your reward from Uncle Roe then the trophy will pop soon after the conversation ends.

The quest is given in the Canterbury Community. Once in the Canterbury Community, you will witness the battle of two “superheroes” - NeMyrmiki, attacking a town with ants, and the Mechanist, defending it with robots. After their battle is over, Ernest "Uncle" Rowe will approach you and ask you to help the residents get rid of these psychos. You either have to kill them or convince them that they are wrong. After everything is done, go to Ernest "Uncle" Rowe and the quest will be completed.
