How to unlock the This Galaxy Ain't Big Enough… achievement in Fallout 3 - Definitive Guide

*******SPOILERS********

some tips to beat the spaceship in the final mission:

as soon as you get in the room where you find the captain, you will notice 2 consoles. the left one is your weapons, and shields. the one in the right is where you fire your guns. there are 3 types of fire and shields: high shields an low weapon energy, middle of both and full weapons energy and low shield energy. eventually, you'll have to activate 4 switches that controls the generators of the spaceship. in this meantime, some aliens will appear in the room, take them down quickly and open fire again towards your enemy ship. stay tuned for your ship health, as well the enemy's, as it appears in the top of both consoles (left one: your ship, right one, your enemy)

Same here, 3 years later... I have a glitch too. Mine is immediately after the Space Walk. When you hit the portal and Sally comes through the portal to open the door.

I had the same problem as Cosmic Katamari when Sally wouldn't open the second door. She would disappear through the tunnel but that was it and even though I waited and waited nothing else would happen. I tried it several times by restarting from a previous checkpoint and even quit the game and reloaded it from the dashboard but with no success.

Finally I managed to get it to work by using the teleporter myself to go back to the Engineering Core and then using it again to come straight back to the Observation Deck. As soon as I teleported back she came running over and the door had been opened. If anyone else is having problems, maybe this will solve it for you too.

Now it's time to escape. Activate the nearby teleporter and you'll meet up with Sally. Now, make your way through the ship until you reach Death Ray Control, once there, destroy the four generators. Next, head through the Living Quarters, killing the hostiles as you go. Once you enter the Bridge, you'll have to kill the Alien Captain. Do so and a hologram will appear. Finally, you'll have to destroy the attacking space ship. When it blows up, the achievement will unlock.

Story Related and Unmissable

WARNING: There is a really nasty bug with this Quest that can cause Sally to stop responding when you get to the Observation deck, to fix this, see here: LINK (Note: There are references to console commands in this link so ignore those as they are for the PC version).

The main part of this Quest is dealing with the Death Ray. You need to make your way through quite a lot of Labs and once you reach the big room with the Death Ray below it you need to destroy the 4 generators to disable it. You need to press the Reactor button on the far left console (it's to the left of the one that manipulates the Death Ray) to raise a generator so you can use the Coolant Switches to overload it. You can only raise 1 generator at a time and destroying the 2nd one will cause a swarm of Aliens to attack so be prepared for one heck of a fight. Once all 4 generators are destroyed, you will be able to use the teleporter to access the Living Quarters. Note: Upon entering the Living Quarters you should have 24/25 recordings.

In the Living Quarters there will be some Abominations and Aliens to deal with, also make sure you get the final recording in here to unlock the Alien Archivist trophy. You will eventually reach the Alien Captain but he's pretty easy to kill and one shot from any of the Alien guns will kill him, though make sure you pick up his gun called the 'Captain's Sidearm" as it's a pretty good weapon.

Once all your friends have turned up you need to use the Death Ray to destroy the other UFO. Sally will lock onto it and all you have to do is fire when the lights start spinning around the "Fire" button. Sometimes the UFO will damage you, If this happens you need to reactivate the 4 generator switches in the room you're in. You need to shoot the enemy UFO about 20 times for it to blow up, it has health bars so you'll know when you're about to destroy it. Once it's been destroyed, the trophy will unlock. To return to the Wasteland, go to the teleporter just outside the room you're now in.

Here's a glitch that Terminator encountered:

After using the Teleporter to summon the other escapees, Elliot Tercorien was in "fleeing" mode and would keep appearing and disappearing through the Teleporter. To prevent this from happening, make sure you kill all the Alien Workers that are around the Teleporter before activating it.
