How to unlock the Cash Out achievement in Fallout: New Vegas - Definitive Guide

Both Cash Out & Safety Deposit Box can be obtained in one playthrough of dead money.

First save your game before you enter the vault!

Once inside the vault the door will seal shut. Dont worry, just use the terminal at the far end of the room. (note: the 2 at either side of the door disable security systems and whatnot...not important)

Select the Vera file. (Vera Keyes does nothing that I know of)
After reading it back out. DO NOT select the new file that appears. Once you back out Elijah appears on the monitor. You need to convince him to come down to the vault. This requires a Lev. 75 barter, repair, or science. Once you convince him to come down this is where you decide which achievement you want.

For Cash Out, wait just inside the vault door gun cocked, dont open the door until Elijah is in the area just outside the vault. (This may take a few tries to judge where he is on your compass) Once he's there open the door and kill him. Achievement popped after he died for me but I've heard rumors of it popping once the fight begins or when he enters the area.

Once he's dead escape, enjoy the ending, and reload your game when your ready.

For Safety Deposit Box, as soon as Elijah says he's on his way down and you can move, run out of the vault, go straight ahead up the stairs, and in the door on your left to the place where you entered this area. Run back the way you came through the maintenance tunnel and when you near the exit maintenance door Elijah will begin speaking. Wait a few seconds and the door will open. Run to the elevator and the achievement should pop once you get on.

Good guide!
Just wanted to add that you have to kill Elijah by yourself. If you reprogram the turrets and let those kill him the achievement won't pop.

Cheers, mate. I was getting so frustrated because I thought he would come in and talk to me about something

It's not really one play through if you have to revert back to an earlier save.

It absolutely is. You don't have to play through the entire game again. You can just reload a save. Thus, one playthrough.

It is one play through technically, usually when people say one playthrough they mean that you don't have to restart all over from the beginning.

you can absolutely get this with the turrets reprogrammed, you just have to be the one to land the final shot. I just stood and waited and he ended up backing into the vault and then it was an easy 1v1. to reprogram the turrets, wait until he turns hostile, then access the computer- believe you'd need the override code, which you get in lower level of 3 hologram room in the cloud.

If for any reason you're struggling with any aspect of the Dead Money dlc, here's a link to a video walkthrough I made with full commentary of the entire thing.

Hope it helps. (I kill father Elijah in this run through and thus gain this achievement on the way)

Other guides are great, but its worth knowing that you need to kill elijah.

I hacked the turrets which killed elijah but didn't get the achievement until I killed him myself.

Hope this helps

this did help. I didn't neg the other walkthroughs for this achievement because they are thorough but wow dude all they had to do was say what you said and I wouldn't have been confused for the past 20 minutes lol! I kept letting him get killed by the turrets.

MISSABLE

NOTES:

1: Don't hack the security terminal in the vault or you will not be able to get this trophy!
2: You must disable the Vault's security first, else you can't access the Security Terminal and view the other Vault Options.
3: Don't touch the Sinclair Personal Accounts, else you will be locked in the vault and be unable to leave.

use the Security Terminal first, else you can't access any of the Vault Options.

Time to get some sweet revenge. Once you're inside the Sierra Madre Vault during the quest Heist of the Centuries and you have made Elijah come down to the vault via a speech check, make a save so you can do the Safety Deposit Box trophy as well. Then wait inside for him to stand in front of the door or when he comes from behind the shield to kill you, then is your chance to kill him. The trophy will appear after he is dead. Be prepared for a long run back the way you camem as your collar is ticking!

This is the longest mission in the history of Fallout, mainly because it's easy to get you head blown off 400 times during this section.

Once you get to the vault, you need to kill Elijah to gain the trophy.

To get to the vault it's a pain in the backside.

1st Section
If you've been nice to Christine, you got down here using her voice and not having to synthesise the voice of Vera.
Once you take the lift down to the vault itself, the annoying security protocols kick in. Once you reach the walkway around the leadpioes with poison at the bottom of the chamber, keep an eye out for blue speakers. When you get to the second room (with a corner to your right that lets you sit there content, knowing your skull isn't going to fly in to the next room. Look back to where you just came from, abovr the room you just left is a blue speaker. Kill it. Off high to the right hand side is another. shoot that, it'll make the next run easier.

If you have you weapon ready, holster it, and run up the gangway. Eventually you'll spot a termnal up ahead. You'll have enough time to get there, this turns off the alarms and more importantly, your collar, skull is safe.

2nd Section
Most people use elaborate ways to take down the holograms, bit my method means you only have to take out one.

Veer off to the left and wait til the first terminal you see, can't be seen by the holograms. Access it and change the holograms patrol route. This send the closest one off down the corridor we just came from. The next one, sets a second off to the right hand side of the room, this may seem stupid but bare with.
Holster your weapon if you drew it for any reason and make a dash over to the right. Once all the way over, look back to the way we came (towards the centre of the room) and notice an emitter on a beam, shoot this and it takes away the hologram guarding the door.
Head down to the lowest room in this section and use the terminal to turn off the alarms (this does NOT turn off the speaker in one corner lf this room,so be careful) . Dash back to the left of the room (where we started) and wait for our friend to move back up the corridor, head down into the smog, head left along the beams to find a toolbox, infornt of this is a code, pick it up.
Return to the room on the far right, and yse the terminal that we used to turn the alarms off to turn the barrier off behind the door guard.

We don't need to kill him, wait til he comes across the the right hand platfomr and use the right hand patg behind him to creep through the door.

3rd section
Run to the terminal up ahead and turn the speakers off, we're now safe in this corridor. From here, we can reach the vault.

Once inside the vault, Make a save so you can come back for.
Fallout: New VegasSafety Deposit BoxThe Safety Deposit Box trophy in Fallout: New Vegas worth 168 pointsTrapped Father Elijah in the Sierra Madre's Vault.

Pick up as many gold as you can carry, also dropping any unneccessary stuff you pick up during this DLC. Some people can carry upto 10gold bars, depending on strength stat and if you have the strong back perk. I made it out with 8.

Save again if you like then acrivate the terminal.
Convince him to come downstairs and then hide behind the right hand side of the vault door. As Elijah comes through, cut his path out off and get his attention to turn him hostile, then shoot at him to he's dead. Trophy unlocked when you start to escape the vault.

Once inside the Casino you will have to track down your three team members once more. You are forced to first turn the power back on in the Casino; do this immediately as with the power on the gambling tables open up for easy chip income. After turning the power back on you must then track down dog in the restaurant. Once inside, you can either convince dog to kill himself (Speech 45) or cure his schizophrenia by... talking to him (Speech 85). You have roughly 15 seconds before dog blows the room up, so talk to him before scavenging for supplies! Also, you cannot fire a shot in the room due to the gas leak; doing so will cause instant death. For a full, detailed walkthrough, check here.

Dean Domino is next on your list, and he's trapped in the Theater. When you are ready, pick up the sheet music in front of the stage; this will initiate a 'race' of sorts from security. Exhaust all options with Dean to know where to run (first his dressing room for Vera's key, then Vera's room for her recording and key). Recording in hand, make your way to the back of the room up to the projector booth and start the holographic show. Then you'll be free to deal with Dean as you wish For a full, detailed walkthrough, check here.

Christine in the most straightforward of the three. She's in the suites in Vera's old room, so simply make your way past the security and radios. Once there, if you haven't already gotten the password from the receptionist's computer you must go back to the main lobby and do so. Bring the password back to her and you may enter the vault For a full, detailed walkthrough, check here.

Make your way through the Vault past security and annoying radios until you make it to the Vault proper. Loot the room before accessing the terminal on the back wall. Once you are ready, convince Elijah to come down and prepare for a fight. Save!

For this achievement, exit the vault bunker once Elijah says he is coming down. He'll emerge to your right (after activating the turret system) and all you must do is kill him. Once dead, the achievement should pop up For a full, detailed walkthrough, check here.

Most likely you will get it according to the plot.

As soon as you find yourself in the casino vault and fill your inventory with gold bars, activate the terminal on the table and read the message for Vera, but under no circumstances open Sinclair's Personal Accounts (well, unless you want to see the ending with the death of the courier). During a conversation with Elijah , convince him to go down and then immediately save (see Safety Deposit Box trophy). Exit the vault, Elijah will appear on the right. He will talk to the GG and activate the turret system. You can shoot from the vault or hack the terminal to the right of the door there (if your scientific skill is very well developed) and reprogram the turrets. After that, deal with Elijah and get this trophy . Then you can load your save and start receiving the SafetyDeposit Box .

If you want not only to kill him, but also a trophy, then for this you need the last bullet to be behind you; if Elijah is killed by Turelli, then you will not get the trophy, and it’s hard to fight one on one with him. Before he has not yet descended, place C4 near the barrier, after he descends and sees the courier - the turrets are activated, they can be broken through the terminal (hacking - 100), he comes out of the barrier, the turrets begin to shoot at him, after about 2 seconds press on the detonator, the C4 explodes and you get the trophy.
