How to unlock the Desert Survivalist achievement in Fallout: New Vegas - Definitive Guide

(Updated to reflect the PipBoy method. Credit to the commentors who suggested it.)

First off, you'll want to load up on food. Ideally, carry a lot of low-weight, high-healing foods. (General rules: steaks > meat, created meals > food drops and pre-War food boxes.) Note that "outside" water and bottled drinks (Nuka and sarsaparilla) do not count towards this achievement, though it appears that bottled water does count. EDIT: Also, per Lanceride : Blood Sausages, Thin Red Paste, and Thick Red Paste do not count toward this achievement.

If you're looking to farm food for this achievement, I recommend fast travel between the following locations:

* Ruby Hill Mine / Silver Peak Mine (Bighorners) (near Jacobstown)
* Nipton, then walk east (lots of Bighorners)
* Goodsprings Source (Geckos)
* Crescent Canyon West/East (Golden Geckos) (southeast of Mojave Outpost)
* Nopah Cave (Fire Geckos) (southeast of Red Rock Canyon)
* Bloodborne Cave (Fire Geckos) (southeast of Nellis AFB)

In my opinion, the best sources of food are Geckos and Bighorners. They drop a lot of meat, and using a campfire (at Goodsprings Source, El Dorado Gas & Service, etc.) you can make Gecko Steaks or Bighorner Steaks. Both are made at a 1:1 ratio and do not require any extra ingredients, so you get a good amount of HP for your effort. (FYI, you'll want to avoid the Fire Gecko locations if you're a low level or have weak weapons.)

If you're feeling really creative and want a challenge, get the recipe for Wasteland Omelets from the girl in Sloan and farm Deathclaw Eggs at Quarry Junction and Dead Wind Cavern. I'm not aware of any food in the game that gives more HP -- my character gets 600 HP from each omelet, which has a weight of 1. Deathclaws are tough sumbitches, tho. You also have to have a few other found items in order to make the omelet. Note: The gourmand in the Ultra Luxe Casino sells Wasteland Omelettes, and these return to his inventory over time if you wait. If you're solely going for this achievement and have loads of caps to spend (and don't need XP or any sort of entertainment), this is the way to go. (Credit to stefb42 for this tip.)

Now, take a little damage, however you like. I recommend letting a bloatfly shoot at you a few times, or drown yourself (briefly), or something similar. As long as your health is not 100%, you can go into your PipBoy and eat as much food as you like, and it will all count -- as one commenter noted, you could theoretically eat 10,000 HP of food at once and the achievement will pop. NOTE: Per LV 1 Blue Slime this will only work in Hardcore mode - other difficulties appear to have a cap on healing from using this method. Please see his comment.

To track your progress, go into your PipBoy, press RT to go to "Data", left stick over to "Misc", press Y for "Challenges", and press X to show "Other Challenges". Look for, of course, "Desert Survivalist".

* EDIT: Please leave a comment and be productive if you think this solution can be improved. *

I'll update for food sources -- thanks for the suggestion. I'll also test the "eat everything" theory, though I didn't get the impression from my gameplay that it worked like that.

Confirmed that binge eating does give you the full amount for each item eaten -- thanks.

I think you misunderstood a portion of my comment. When referring to "Binge" eating, you don't have to have less than full HP, then eat as much as you can, as fast as you can. You can eat everything you are carrying from your pipboy, and your health will not go up, but you'll still get progress towards 10,000HP healed :)

So, its not theoretically possible to eat 10khp of food at once, it IS possible. easily, if you have enough food

um if you turn the difficulty up you take a good amount of damage from the bloatflies. and by doing that you gain a perk for taing damage. if you want to drown yourself then do that. he is showing a different way to do this. all he is doing is helping out so be thnkful.

In order to gather a lot a food you can do this:
Buy all the food the chef has in the nellis air force base hangars and immediatly save. Then go directly to the dashboard, and boot the game up again. When you load, the chef will have all of it's food again fotr you to buy it. This method worked 9 out of every ten times I tried it. This was posted in the achievemnt for the mods in a comments so credit goes to that guy.

- Water counts.
- Healing powder does not.
- Whenever you heal, providing you have health to be healed, the points are automatically completely added to your score. So for instance, if food heals 2hp/5s, it will have healed you 10 health after 5 seconds, but the second you eat it you are awarded the points towards the achievement.

If you have any other uncertaintys on how points are gained, if they are gained etc., you will find this achievement in the notes section under Challenges > Desert Survivalist.

the gourmand in ultra luxe casino, vendor there sells wasteland omlettes,1-4 at a time, cost between 100 - 180 caps each depending on banter, wait 3-4 days and he'll have more,no need to leave the gourmand to wait, just stand in front of vendor and use the in-game wait function,30-40 omelettes will get anyone this achievement regardless of survival skill, will take about 10 - 15 mins maximum to get the omlettes,if you go in damaged you can eat all omlettes quickly from your pip boy (not hotkeyed)as you wont actually heal any damage until you exit pip boy though it does count to the achievement, and achievement will pop,i got the full 10,000 in 1 sitting

As I mentioned in another comment, eating everything in my inventory didn't work for the achievement. I had easily over 10,000 HP worth of food, ate it all, and when I checked the Challenge progress, it had only gone up about 1,500 HP.

Come to think of it, after eating like 25% of the food in my inventory, I stopped getting rads from the irradiated stuff too. Maybe it was a glitch.

Anyway, I just reloaded and ate 10 items of food at a time, checking the challenge between each group of 10 foods to make sure it was still going up, and exiting the pip boy for good measure. Took a little longer but actually worked.

Yeah I was in the same position, most of the food I ate wasn't registering. Make sure to keep an eye out on your progress, because I had around 25 wasteland omelats with already over 6000hp done and I wasn't getting the cheevo. I suggest you don't spam eat all the food so the pip boy picks up everything. Best of luck!

Same glitch for me, I just shared food between me and 2 companions and fast traveled to a lake to drown myself in then used 4 of each food type at a time coming out of my pip boy each time.

Matthews Animal Husbandry Farm (a bit West/Southwest of Camp Searchlight) has a ton of Bighorners, Brahmins, and calves of both. They all say they're malnourished, but I got 23 steaks out of one trip. Not sure if they respawn after a few days, but it's another source of cookable meat.

Please add the following to the solution:
Blood Sausages, Thin Red Paste, and Thick Red Paste do not count toward this achievement. So don't take the "Them's Good Eatin'" perk in order to try to make quick progress towards this achievement.

I wasted a perfectly good perk on it. :/

Scarfing down all your food at once in the pipboy doesn't seem to work if you aren't on hardcore mode. I ate all the food in my inventory in "basic" mode and ended 2500/10000. Reloaded save, changed to hardcore, scarfed the same food down again, and ended at 7100/10000.

Because reasons. Also, I didn't have enough food either way, fuck.

I realize i'm really really late but maybe someone can still use my findings. The Big Horns at Silver Peak/Ruby Hill respawn after a few days. These are the only ones that respawned that i found. There's little groups around the hills and they're mostly in the same places. Their spawns are not always consistent but i got atleast 6 Big Horn's in a run each time and the most i've seen is 10. Just make your way down between both mines wait a few days and fast travel back to the other mine for them to respawn. You need around 150 big horn steaks to get this achievement from scratch.

If you have The old world blues DLC... A really fast way to gather food is to loot the sharecroppers farm for all the vegetables. Then turn all of it into salient green. Takes one run.

What was easiest for me is to wait for the dead money dlc, break the casino, make a save and use all your sierra madre caps to buy sugar bombs (gives most health with 1 health over 7 seconds) made sure I was missing a little health then scarfed them all down, wasn't playing on hardcore and it worked like a charm, bit late but hope this helps

I Second XxDeadpoolxX182's Comment As long as you got sierra madre caps you can get unlimited food from Vending machines around sierra madre then just walk into an area with toxic clouds to lower your health then eat you food to restore it rinse and repeat.

I voted down because your guide is suggesting actually watching every HP point go up from every single piece of food that you eat. You really don't need to do that, you simply need to get (less than max) HP and then eat EVERYTHING in your inventory, and it will ALL count towards your food-eaten. If you had 10,000hp worth of food and did this it would take less than 5 minutes. The problem is getting 10,000HP worth of food.

Find me locations of "LOTS" of food on the map, and this solution will get my vote up. otherwise, its awful. I voted the other ones up because they at least saved me the hassle of what you're telling me to do with this solution.

Tried this two ways ... but first I accumulated 50+ wasteland omelets.

Then I tried to allow various critters to beat me up ... bark scorpions, gecko, etc. ... and then go to town on the omelets. Did not work ... only got me about 3,400.

I then tried the drowning method in Cottonwood Cove. I went underwater, my oxygen depleted and I waited until I was at about half health. Entered PipBoy and scarfed omelets until it popped.

I wonder what the difference was.

Thumbs up from me, anyways.

^^ I don't think he suggesting watching each point. His method works really well because you are continuously taking damage from the boatfly and thus don't have to stop eating to go drown yourself again. This allows you to mash all the food in your inventory at once without having to stop for breaks, or worry about eating food when you are at full health which will not count toward your 10,000. I can also confirm as you suggested that spamming the food either from D-pad or pipboy works. The cheevo popped for me while was in the pip boy before all the food had healed me. Positive vote from me.

I do agree finding the food is the biggest pain. I don't like the Thorn method of grabbing scorpion glands because its too glitchy and will lock up. I used a combination of raiding NCD sharecroppers for maize and pinto beans, traveling to the mesquite camp SW of Primm for scorpion glands and then turning them into Ruby in Primm for casseroles, and random encounters with animals that make steaks, and repeating.

You should add the Grub n Gulp Rest Stop, they have bahm seak( str +1, rads +1, hp +3 15s) gecko steak(str +1, rads +1, hp +3 15s) grilled mantis( rads +1, hp +1 30s. iguana on a stick( rads +2, hp 1 12s. mole rat meatrads +2, hp 1 5s. If water does count there is a ladyselling watr right next him. There is a camp fire location there as well so you can make food and wiat for 3 days for them to restock food and water. If you go to freeside north gate man sellin food right as you get inside freeside. There are gold geckos at vault 34, and One of the best foods is Cook-Cooks fiend stew. you nee to killhim and get his recipe. you gain (str +1, hp +3 for a minute. you need beer x2, brahmin meat x2, fresh potato x2, fresh carrot x1, jalapeino pepper x2

Fastest and easiest way possible: (Regardless of survival skill & amount of food on you, this can be done in less than 15 minutes).

1: Go to the food vendor chap at the Gourmand in the Ultra Luxe Casino.

2: Buy everything off him (He also sells wasteland omelettes (1-4 each time) which heal 420-600 points per omelette)).

3: Press 'back' and wait for 3-4 days.

4:Talk to the guy again and buy everything off him.

5:Keep buying everything off him and do this about 8-10 times.

Now you 'should' have enough food so, SAVE the game just in case.

Now start punching a few people so they retaliate and damage you back. Once you have lost health go into your pip-boy and onto the 'aid' section. Now just spam away at the 'A' button and eat everything! (don't worry about watching your health go up just eat eat eat!)

If the cheevo doesn't pop then simple reload the save and buy a bit more food and then try again.

I thought I would post this strategy as it doesn't involved fannying about looking for food, or drowning yourself and is easily the least effort and time consuming.

**Just another little tip**

Before buying all the food, you may want to clear your aid section of everything that isn't food (get rid of stimpaks etc). And also get rid of water (Yes it does count as food but it also adds some health instantly which we do not want as we are binge eating!)

Thanks for the solution, but I just wanted to say that I was having difficulties with it until i damaged myself almost all the way to no HP. The more health missing, the more you get back from eating food. Also, it works to keep eating food... Just stay in the Pip-Boy.

Agreed on the more HP missing.

E.G - If you have 5hp out of a possible 500 - A wasteland omelette will give you a maximum of 495hp, where as obviously if you are at half health, you will only get 250

Great solution, wish I had read the comments first, I had come in to say it took me multiple tries until I let them nearly kill me all the way.

Also, I found that I regenerated health over time (I had a perk) so the way I got them to get me was to hit them once I thought I had enough food and so they could beat me until I thought it was the right amount!

Easiest way to lose health is leave the Gourmand and go across the hall into the Bath House. Jump in the pool and you'll lose HP very quickly once your O2 runs out (and maybe get the weird glitch where your character's hair vanishes underwater)

Full credit goes to ripacrombie (10-27-2010, 11:05 PM) , courtesy of www.xbox360achievements.org, original method found on this thread:

http://www.xbox360achievements.org/forum/showthread.php?t=27...

To summarise: Collect Radscorpion Glands on your travels through the Wasteland or even better verse Giant Radscorpions (3 if your good enough) at the The Thorn battle arena. On average a single battle can give 10 Glands for use.

After collecting alot of Glands go to Primm (complete the quest there to unlock the Casino there) and talk to Ruby Nash, who usually walks outside the Mojave Express building near the Casino. She can convert 5 Radscorpion Glands into 5 Radscorpion Venom Casseroles. Make sure your health is not 100% (harm yourself with Dynamite, Grenade or a Mine), enter your Pipboy and eat all the casseroles you create at once (you don't need to eat and wait).

Each casserole gives 60 HP to Food. In theory you need to obtain 170 glands/casseroles from scratch to do this, but if you work The Thorn for Glands you can gain this quickly. As an added bonus you can gain XP, Caps and even do other 10000 damage achievements with different weapons (Melee, Unarmed, Guns, Energy Weapons, don't do Explosives) while beating on the Giant Radscorpions.

Another great place to get Radscorpion glands is North/North East of Goodsprings Cemetery, down the hill. A good number spawn here (I manage about 30 glands per run) and then all you have to do is wait/rest three days and they`ll be back. Got my glands in 10 minutes this way.

A lot of these are great ideas, but I did a little something different.

I went to the Nellis Mess Hall (One of the hangars in the Air Force Base where the boomers are, I recommend fast-traveling to the Nellis Hangars in the Northeast) and around there is the Boomer Chef. He sells you food.

What I did was cleared my inventory (as much as possible) and bought everything I could carry. Then I warped to the Crashed B-29 in the lake and went to drown myself (make sure Hardcore is off). After my health started depleting, I swum back onto shore. At this point, I began eating the food and didn't have to continuously redrown. I just did all the food at once and it counted for me.

I highly recommend getting the Purified Water, as it goes quickly and comes in high quantities. After that, I went back to the Mess Hangar and waited three periods of 24 hours and he restocked.

Rinse and Repeat.

It may not be the fastest fastest method, but it worked perfectly for me and didn't take long at all, and I was starting from 0.

Hope this helps!

Here is a good way to get fast, free food. In the Follower's Safehouse, there are two refrigerators which as long as Doctor Laria is present, contain an infinite amount of food.

I will now explain how to gain access to the safehouse, if you already have access to it you can skip this next section.

First of all, you will need to be at least neutral with the Followers of the Apocalypse. However I'm not really sure how to get in bad relations with them. You're goal is to become Idolised by the Followers, who will then grant you access to their safehouse. The easiest way to do this is to donate medical supplies to Julie Farkas in the Old Mormon Fort in Freeside, just outside New Vegas. If you are low on medical supplies, you can buy some (I found a good place to get them was the New Vegas Medical Centre, or even Julie herself). After donating enough to become Idolised, Julie will then offer you the chance to join the Followers (You may need to wait a few days, or leave the fort to get this to happen). Accept her offer, and among other things, she will give you the key to the Followers Safehouse.

Now before you travel to the Safehouse, you're going to want to stock up on Rad-Away, and something that will let you damage yourself (there is no water around the safehouse, and you will become extremely over-encumbered and unable to travel). I took a rocket launcher. Now travel to the safe house, which can be found north-west of Vault 22, or just west of New Vegas. It should be marked on the mini map for you after being given the key. Note: You must head towards the Safehouse from the west, as the there are impenetrable rocks behind it, making it impossible to get to from the east.

Inside you will found two fridges, among plenty of other cool loot. These fridges will be automatically restocked by Dr. Luria as long as she is present at the safe house. She comes for a few days every week. If she isn't there when you get there, just start waiting in 12 hour bursts until she is, as I found that if you wait longer she is likely to show up, but then immediately leave, leaving you without the chance to use the infinite fridges. However once she is there, go to one of the fridges, open it, take everything, close, repeat x 100. I started reading these forums while just pressing 'A' (open), 'X' (take all) repeatedly. After a very short amount of time (5 - 10 minutes), you should have enough food to fully complete this achievement from 0 HP healed.

Now I recommend walking outside to damage yourself (just to make sure you don't kill the doctor replenishing the fridges!) take everything you can to boost your Survival skill, then just starting taking all your different food. You can do this by damaging yourself, (so you have something to heal) then in the pop-boy keep taking food without closing it. This food will count towards your total food healed. If you want more information on this part, I suggest reading this wiki page which does a great job of explaining this process - http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Desert_Survivalist

Your progress can be tracked by going to the pip-boy, then Data – misc – challenges (Y).

You will also just want to watch your Radiation level, as the food you will be eating isn’t the best quality and is quite irradiated, and upon reaching max radiation you will die (Happened to me twice when I wasn’t paying attention!).

All in all a lot of button spamming involved, but quite a quick and easy way to get this achievement out of the way!

Good luck!

These all seem like good methods, but I don't know if anyone mentioned it, but having Arcade in your party gives you a ten percent boost to food items which makes a difference over the course of 50 big horn steaks.
24
3

14 Mar 2011 06:14

Another way is:

Survival skill 100 , collect lots of bighorn or gecko meat , go to a campfire and do the above meat as steaks , and then you can go to a river or lake and start drowning your self so you can lose hit points and then start consuming the steaks until the achievement pops .

With that way you don't waste ammo and you don't limb your self .

You can use the same way for the 10000 hp with stimpacks .

Also save the game every 2 minutes while you doing that because you might forget your character below water and drown...you dont want to start all over again :))

Note that although any foods counts, going to a few places, will give you insane amounts of food, and it is important to have 3-6 different types of food as when you use the same food the health bonus only stacks, as in you'll get +1 HP for 9 secs for maize but instead of getting +2 hp for 9 secs you get +1 hp for 18 secs, so using more than one food will add more +hp effects.
Go to NCR Sharecropper farms where there are a bunch of green houses stacked with maize and pinto bean pods

Brooks tumbleweed ranch, Matthews animal husbandry farm and other places that have lots of bighorners and brahmin

edit: sarsaparillas, alcohol, and nuka cola DO NOT count, but cannibalism may count
edit: Purified water, irradiated water and dirty water DO count, but drinking from sources like lake mead or urinals does not count
edit: The storage hanger at the 'Hangers' at Nellis Airforce Base has a kitchen loaded with food, and a chef that you can purchase more from

go to the ultra luxe and if you have enough caps go to the gourmand guy that sells food and buy every thing there and go to lake golf and drown yourself to where your health is low but you are not killed and use the waste land omlet first and then use everything else you bought from him to heal yourself and then wait a couple of in game days to let him restock and then rinse and repeat

I figured this out near the end of doing this achievement. First off go to Nellis AFB and go to the mess. Speak to the chef and buy all his purified water off him. Rest for 3 days and repeat the process of buying water. do this 3-4 times. Next step is to go to the B-52 site (make sure you have the re-breather) and drown yourself until your nearly dead. Put the re-breather on and consume all your water. It should come up after a few minutes.

I was on 6,000 when I realised this and I quickly finished what I thought was going to be the most annoying achievement.

If you're willing to lose Karma and don't care about your loyalty to the NCR, go to the House Resort at Camp Golf, and go to the right. You will find a couple rows of bunk beds, but past there, a kitchen, and a Desert Survivalist's wet dream - dozens of food items, from Bubblegum to Brahmin Steak and even the Nuka Cola Quartz! The place is not far from Lake Mead or Lake Las Vegas where you can drown yourself to allow the food to heal you. The food storage here alone won't give you 10000 but it certainly makes a dent.

Go to the Gourmond restaurant in the ultra luxe, use pukey UK's method of getting food, then go into the ultra luxes bathing room opposite the Gourmond drown yourself in the water. This will cause you to loose health fast. Then simply use the accumulated food to heals yourself, drowning yourself again when your health maxes out.

This is probably the fastest method...
>At Camp McCarran in the concourse, talk to Cpl. William Farber. He can found around the dining area. He sells at one time: (17) Fresh Carrot, (31) Fresh Potato, (43) Maize, and (1) Pork and Beans.

>Go around the corner, hurt yourself, eat your food (BUT DO NOT CLOSE THE PIPBOY UNTIL YOU EAT ALL THE FOOD). Repeat.

>Note: make sure you're not an enemy of the NCR (I am not sure if it matters, but it is an NCR Camp)
>Note: watch out for NCR soldiers when hurting yourself, they will attack back including the chef who sells the food.

I found a relatively simple method to obtain this achievement.

Step 1. Goto the NCR Sharecropper Farms
Step 2. Collect all the food that is growing in the greenhouses.
Step 3. Damage yourself with an explosive weapon while crouched and looking down. (Note: The YCS-186 can do this as well.)
Step 4. Once you have shot yourself at least once. Eat all the maize and pinto beans you collected there.
Step 5. If you have not gotten the achievement. Leave, wait 3 days, and repeat steps 1-4.

Hope this helps you get this achievement.

This trophy will come (somewhat) naturally over time as you heal damage accrued in the game. This trophy can be attempted in Hardcore mode, because healing occurs over time rather than instantly in either mode, and you're going to need to eat to survive anyhow! To maximize food’s effectiveness ensure that you have a high Survival skill, because not only will it unlock additional crafting recipes, it will also directly affect how much health you get back from food. Keep track of your progress on the Stats screen of your Pip-Boy. You'll notice that when you eat the food, the full amount of the food's HP benefit is added to your "Health From Food" stat, even though when you exit the menu the food heals over time. Meaning that if you're intending to grind this trophy out, all you have to do is take more damage than the food you're eating, then eat all the food at once. As long as you don't leave the menu, the full amount of all food items you eat will be added to your "Health From Food" stat.

Over the course of the game, a staple food item to rely on is Gecko steaks. Geckos of several varieties can be found in many different places, including just outside Goodsprings at the beginning of the game. The recipe to cook the steaks requires a Survival skill of only 25, requires one Gecko meat per steak, and provides more health than any other single component recipe.

If you come up short, you can always supplement your score by farming Giant Radscorpions in the pits at Thorn, just south of the Westside south gate. To join the fights talk to Red Lucy, who stands on a platform above the pit. The glands from the radscorpions can be given to Ruby Nash in Primm, who can usually be found on the street in front of the Mojave Express. For each gland you give her, she will give you "Ruby's Casserole", allowing you to quickly stock up on food items to grind through the remainder of your score. Thanks to ripacrombie for the suggestion.

The method in this video was perfect. Your gonna have to spend a few thousand csps, but it only takes a hour or two. Just reload a save when.you get the a achievement.

This will almost certainly require boosting. A decent Survival skill score is a must, as it will greatly reduce the time to achieve this (Survival impacts how much health food replenishes). Also note that you must heal 10,000 points of damage, not eat 10,000 points of food health. A way to simply power through this is as follows:

  • Go to the Gourmand in the Ultra Luxe Casino with a large sum of money and no inventory.
  • Buy out the food waiter's inventory.
  • Wait for 48-72 hours.
  • Buy him out again.
  • Repeat the last two bullets until you have 10,000 points worth of health replenishment from food.
  • Walk next door into the Ultra Luxe Bathhouse.
  • Enter the pool and start drowning yourself, healing with food as required.
  • Continue until the achievement unlocks.

The easiest way to get this trophy is to exchange Rad Scorpion Gland for a product from Ruby Nash (Ruby Nash is Granny)

To get Rad Scorpion Gland, go to The Thorn (western part of New Vegas, more precisely SEWER), Red Lucy will be there - she arranges fights, we arrange a fight with 3 Giant Rad Scorpions. We defeat the scorpions, take 5 (a) from them maybe even 10) Rad Scorpion Glands, we go again to the same Red Lucy, again we get into fights, kill Giant Red Scorpions, and farm tonsils from them 8). We collect 160 tonsils (this should be enough), go to Primm, we find Ruby Nash (she can be in the building where ED-E was, or in the Vikki&Vance casino), talk to her, and exchange all our Rad Scorpion Glands for her pies. Change, change... (it won’t work out right away, it takes 5 each. That is, you will have to click 25+ times on the same dialogue -_-). When you have the pies, go to the WATER. We go into the water, the oxygen runs out and your HP is removed when you have little HP - go to PIP-BOY , go into the food, and eat all the food without turning off the Pip-Boy. But you have to click on the use of food very quickly until it runs out!

If you have the Survival 100 skill and you used this scheme, the trophy is yours.

If your Survival skill is lower, then you will have to get more Rad Scorpion Glands, and go to the same Ruby Nash for pies.

PS Each Rad Scorpion Gland weighs 1 kg. Free up space in your inventory.

For this method you will need to complete the DLC - "Old World Blues"

1. First of all, you need to collect as many empty soda bottles as possible. They are quite easy to find, they are scattered throughout the wasteland, but so that you do not wander around looking for bottles, I will give their exact location...

Bottle location:

No-bark's shack; (NOVAC)
Bison Steve Hotel; (Primm)
Gas station; (Goodsprings)
Vikki and Vance Casino; (Primm)
Nipton Road Reststop;
REPCONN headquarters;
Griffin Wares sacked caravan;
NCR Correctional Facility;
Gibson scrap yard garage;

Merchants where you can buy empty bottles:

Blake; (Crimson Caravan Company)
Cliff Briscoe; (Dino Bite gift shop, NOVAC)
Old Lady Gibson; (Gibson scrap yard)
Ralph (Freeside)

2. After you have collected a bunch of empty bottles, you need to move to the Big Mountain, and then move to “The Sink”. (You will need about 100 - 300 bottles, depending on how much HP you have already restored with food. At 100 survival skill, water restores 30 HP)

3. Next, fill the empty bottles with water using “Sink”, ATTENTION!!! To fill water bottles, your sink needs to be upgraded!

4. We return to the Mojave Wasteland.

5. Next, we need to teleport closer to Lake Mead.

6. We dive into the water, HP begins to run out, when we have few lives left, we emerge. After you get out of the water open Pip - Boy ( ), and start drinking water, drink until the achievement appears. ATTENTION!!! Don't close pip-fight until you get the achievement.

On the territory of Camp McCarran in the airport building there is a cook, Cap William Farber. He sells quite a lot of food. You buy food, receive any minor/significant/very significant damage, go to the pip-boy, eat all the food, points should be counted for all the food, and not just for the increased level of health. In my case, 1300 points at a time. Then you rewind the time and repeat. Products are delivered from this seller approximately once every 3 days.
