How to unlock the No Tumbler Fumbler achievement in Fallout: New Vegas - Definitive Guide

If you have the Old World Blues DLC, this achievement can be quite easy. At the X-13 Research Facility, there is a Test Terminal. Upon selecting any of the tests turn left and go through the double doors. To your right are two locked doors. One has an easy lock and the other has an average lock. These locks reset if you pass or fail any of the tests. Just return to the Test Terminal and restart any of the tests and repeat until you have the achievement.

This should come with the natural playthrough of the game, but if you some how missed getting 25 or you want to knock it out early, here is a list of all the pickable locks in the game. http://fallout.wikia.com/wiki/Lock#List_of_locks_.28Fal....29

This is one of the easier trophies in New Vegas. Lockpicking is one of the biggest things to do in Fallout. I will not be listing all the locations of anything that can be lockpicked since I don't want to write 4 Wikipedia articles.

Anyways you will want to level up your Lockpick skill by spending your points you get by leveling up. I always try to throw 2-3 points on it every level. You should try to get it to at least 75 as soon as you can.

Here are the thresholds for the lockpick skill:

25 - Easy
50 - Average
75 - Hard
100 - Very Hard

Good luck!

An achievement that simply must be done over time. Remember to take it slow, as each bobby pin has a 'health' bar such that if you guess wrong you can stop before it breaks. Should you fail often, you might want to invest in the Infiltrator (Perception 7, Lockpick 70) perk which lets you repick a broken lock one more time. This achievement can easily be done with "Hack the Mojave," as many locked doors have a terminal next to them that can unlock the door. If you do them simultaneously, access the terminal first, hack it, but then unlock the door manually instead of through the computer.

To pick a lock, to begin with you'll need a bobby pin in your inventory. The rotates the angle of the bobby pin over a 180° arc, and the turns the lock with a screwdriver. If the bobby pin is in the correct position, the lock will open. If not, then the closer you are to the correct position the further the lock will turn before it stops. Release the immediately when this happens, and adjust the position of the bobby pin. If you're getting closer, the lock will turn further than before. If not, try the other direction.

To improve your chances of picking a lock, ensure that you have a high Lockpick skill as well as a high Perception stat. If you find yourself breaking a lot of bobby pins, remember that you can cancel the lockpicking attempt at any time. After three tries to turn the lock have failed, the bobby pin will usually break on the fourth attempt, so if you're not sure you've got the right spot, don't be afraid to pull out. (That's what she said) Keep track of your progress on the Stats screen of your Pip-Boy.

There are quite a lot of closed doors, safes and other locks in the game; to open any lock you need the necessary lockpicking skill. The castles have only 5 difficulty levels:
Very easy - can be opened by any character, regardless of his hacking skill.
Easy - requires 25+ points in hacking skill.
Average requires 50+ points in hacking skill.
Difficult - requires 75+ points in hacking skill.
Very difficult - requires 100 points in hacking skill.
Having enough skill, a mini-game will begin and by winning it you will open the lock. To speed up the process of obtaining, start leveling up the skill as early as possible.
