There are 8 companions in total, two robotic and six humanoid. You can only have one of each type in your team at a time so if you want to recruit other companions you'll have to dismiss them first by talking to and parting ways with them. Make sure after you recruit them, you leave them on your team for a short while before dismissing them otherwise it may not register as them having become a companion. I would recommend at least leaving the area where you recruit them before dismissing them. If you're STILL having trouble unlocking the achievement keep each companion on your team for a good chunk of time, upwards of 5 minutes or so. Also, it seems that if you are on good terms with Mr. House you can send your companions there when you dismiss them so you only have one spot to go to change them out. For the players going for this during their Hardcore playthrough, don't worry if any of the companions die on you, you will still get the achievement when you recruit the last companion. This has to be done in one playthrough.

Robotic Companions

ED-E - ED-E is in Primm inside of the Mojave Express building on a table just to the left as you enter. Before you can recruit it you will have to repair it though. You will need 35 repair and 55 science OR 65 repair OR 3 scrap metals, 2 sensor modules and 1 electrical part. If you need a small boost in repair there is a Fixin' Things magazine around the corner on the same room to boost it + 10. You will not be able to recruit it if Rex is currently on your team. Perk: Enhanced Sensors - enemies are easier to detect even if they are cloaked, you can also select cloaked enemies to target while in VATS.

Rex - You can recruit Rex into your team by speaking to "The King" in Freeside inside of the King's School of Impersonation. You will have to bribe the guard (either with caps or dialogue) in front of a locked door just to the left once inside. Eventually while speaking to him you'll have dialogue options related to his dog. Follow this path and he will allow the dog to join your team. You will not be able to recruit him if ED-E is currently on your team. Perk: Search and Mark - chems, firearms, and ammunition within a short distance are highlighted when you zoom in.

Humanoid Companions

Arcade Gannon - Arcade Gannon is a medic located in Old Morman Fort in Freeside. His tent is located in the back right of the area. In order to recruit him you will need 75 speech or have the perk "Confirmed Bachelor". You'll get a "unique" dialog choice with him. He will not join you if you are aligned with the Legion. You will not be able to recruit him with any other Humanoid Companion already on your team. Perk: Better Healing - all forms of health recovery increased by 20%.

Boone - Boone is located in Novac at the top of the dino starting at 9pm. In order to recruit Boone you will have to complete the quest One for My Baby and have an Intelligence of at least 6. MAKE SURE THAT YOU HAVE HIM KILL THE CORRECT PERSON AND HAVE THE EVIDENCE TO PROVE IT TO MAKE SURE HE WILL NOT BE HOSTILE TO YOU. Talk to everyone that has a marker above their head in town to get evidence or the way to get evidence. When talking to him after the quest is complete ask him to come with you and when he asks for a reason use the intelligence option. You will not be able to recruit him with any other Humanoid Companion already on your team. Perk: Spotter - Highlight enemies when actively aimed at them (using a scope).

Cass - Cass is located in the Mojave Outpost south of Primm in a bar to the left as you enter the gated area with two buildings. When you first talk to her you won't be able to recruit her but must instead do the quest Heartache by the Number until you are tasked to find her. In order to recruit her you will need either 50 barter OR 75 barter OR 50 speech OR 75 speech (four separate paths). You will not be able to recruit her with any other Humanoid Companion already on your team. Perk: Whiskey Rose - No negative effects from consuming alcohol plus consuming whiskey give an increase in DT of 2 - 6 points depending on survival.

Lily - Lily is located in Jacobstown just in front and to the left of the large red building. In order to recruit her you will have to speak to the doctor inside the building in a room to the right as you enter. Discuss curing the schizophrenia in Nightkin and you will start a quest where one of the optional objectives is to recruit her. You will not be able to recruit her with any other Humanoid Companion already on your team. Perk: Stealth Girl - 200% increase in duration for stealth boy and extra 10% damage from sneak attack criticals.

Raul Tejada - Raul Tejada is the hardest to recruit. He is located on Black Mountain quite a bit east and slightly north of Goodspring in a prison surrounded by a lot of strong Nightkin and Super Mutants especially if you're a low level. As you head up the road you will be warned by another Super Mutant who will start a quest. After you finish the quest by killing Tabitha you will be able to free him. Make sure to read terminals to find clues on how. He will join if you ask. Perks: Regular Maintenance - slows decay of armor and weapons by 50%, Full Maintenance - slows decay of armor and weapons by 75% (obtained through dialog at end of an unmarked quest, either convince him that old people should retire and live long and useful lives or you will need 66 speech), Old Vaquero - His rate of fire with revolvers and lever action firearms is 33% faster than normal.

ALTERNATIVELY AND EASIER Try going all the way around the mountain from Neil's shack to the north, keeping to the high ground as much as possible. You'll pass near the Rangers Safe House or something like that. Shorty after that, there'll be a decent path you can go up the mountain on, and you'll be at the village there. Sneak around the village away from all the super mutants, and once you get to the path up to the radio tower, bum rush to the storage building, ignoring the nightkin. Once inside the building, fix Rhonda, tell it to follow you, then go back outside. Tabitha will thank you, then leave. All the nightkin will now be passive, and Raul can be gotten at your liesure. Check the unlocked terminal, read entry 6, then unlock his door with the other terminal. Tell him he's free to go, and when he complains about being all alone, tell him to come with you. You will not be able to recruit him with any other Humanoid Companion already on your team.

If you decide not to recruit him or can't right away or merely dismiss him, Raul goes back to his shack, which is just south of Nelis AFB. After you tell him to leave your party he says he'll go back to his shack, all alone in the middle of nowhere. It should pop up on your map.

Veronica - Veronica is found on the path from Novac to Freeside in the 188 Trading Post. When you talk to her she will ask what your opinion on the Brotherhood of steel is. The way that I got her to join was to reply that they are no threat as long as you don't have any good weapons and you will either be able to ask her to join or she will ask to join. Just stick to non-negative dialogue options and you should have no trouble recruiting her. She will not join you if you have made the Brotherhood of Steel your enemy. You will not be able to recruit her with any other Humanoid Companion already on your team. Perk: Scribe Assistant - Lets you craft workbench items through dialog with her.

Glitches(?)
People have reported getting the achievement with only 7 companions.

CounterInsurgnt reported that his followers would disappear if he tried to enter a place and a guy said his followers couldn't come with. Workaround seems to be telling your follower to wait outside before entering that place.

Some people have reported losing a follower (not killed or actually physically stopping following you, they just disappear through normal travel). Workaround seems to be going down the elevator in Vault 22. It seems that they might appear if you merely wait for a couple of hours (using the wait feature in-game). Similarly if you tell a companion to wait and then accidentally leave without telling them to follow you again, after a couple of days in-game time you will receive a message that they have returned to their post.

Just wanted to add that you can recruit "Arcade" without having 75 Speech if you have the perk "Confirmed Bachelor". You get a "unique" dialog choice with him.

Also, would you happen to know how long someone has to remain in your party for it to register? I just recruited Raul, who was the last companion I needed, but the achievement didn't unlock.

I'm not really sure how long. The achievement didn't unlock for me the first time and I had to go back and recruit Arcade again. I started running off with him following me and only about 3 - 5 seconds after I had actually recruited him did the achievement unlock.

Yes. The majority of them return to where you first recruit them. I'm not sure about Raul though. I know you can get him again but I don't know where from.

For some reason I got this achievement without ever recruiting Lily. Oh, and for Veronica I'm pretty sure you can just say anything that's not negative ... hell, you might be able to say something negative and she won't care, but you defiitely don't HAVE to use that line. And lastly you can use a speech check to get to the King without paying.

just as an aside if you are on terms with Mr. House and have access to the Lucky 38 you can send your companions there when you part ways so you have a single place to switch between them

Im stuck with boone, his target got killed by another civilian and he wont change dialogue to allow me to choose him as a companion, does this mean i cannot get him?

I believe it's possible with high enough speech to have him kill the wrong person and then you can convince him it was the right person. I haven't been able to confirm though so the guide doesn't mention that. If you figure out, let me know!

For the players going for this during their Hardcore playthrough, don't worry if any of the Companions die on you, i had ED-E and Raul die and it still got the achievement on my last companion i recruited; Rex.

ya because i felt him at the black mountain where i found him after a while then i went back and he wasn't there and i couldn't recruit a companion and i also went to see if he was in his shack but he wasn't there either. All of your companions are retrievable. When you tell them you want to split up, send them to the Lucky 38. They will end up in your suite in the Lucky 38. That is where you can retrieve which ever one you want then. This is a very simple way to keep track of them all and retrieve them very easily when needed.

From what my friends and other folks are saying is that it is taking around 3 to 5 mins for the cheevo to pop. Also, I recruited Cass i went into Freeside into Silver RUsh and she was killed. After that I recruited Boone and he was the last one for me and it popped. So as long as have you actually "recruited" them and have them follow you around the cheevo should still pop even if they die.

I have had a glitch where my followers go invisible! Had it happen twice and I had to reload hardsaves to fix it. It seems any when a guy says that your followers can't come in with you this bug hits. So now I tell my followers to wait manual and it works like a charm!

Try going back and keeping each one in your party for a little longer. I had to do this with Arcade. After about 5 seconds of having him in my party the achievement unlocked.

I got this achievement with only 4 companions! Got Raul 1st, then ran into Veronica, fixed ED-E in Primm, then picked up Cass and the acheivement popped. I was actually pissed cause I thought there were only 4 in the game this time...

Okay, this one's acting weird. It's not letting me recruit ED-E. I repaired him, but it tells me that I can only have one companion at the time. I did have Rex with me earlier, but not sure what happened to him. I think it's an all in one achievement, but I can't find any place that confirms it one way or another. And since I already have the achievement I can't check myself. You should try to do it in one play through but if you can't, please try to recruit the others and see if it unlocks the achievement and let me know!

You can try stopping helping the legion. Do things that are good like kill powder gangers, try to do quests that the legion didn't give you. Possibly killing legion members. You should make a back up save go kill a bunch of legion members and do some other stuff against the legion and try to see if you can get him to join. If you can and the achievement pops revert to the back-up save and continue helping the legion.

There is a glitch with getting the last objective in Boone's quest. Sometimes the option in dialog to get the person to follow does not come up. I had to select another quest and go to the person's location at about midnight. They approached me just in front of the Novac offices. Also, no need to talk to everybody. No-Bark will give you the info to activate the next objective.

I also got it without all of them, I still need ED-E and Cass, I got the achievement when Cass give me the quest to help the Caravan, and BTW Rex is gonne, is not with me and he is not anywhere, and when I repaired ED-E they told me that I can only have 1 companion....

Like other people have said try going down Vault 22. Or just wait a long time in game. I left one of my companions and never went back to pick them up and eventually I got the message saying they returned to their post.

How high is your rep with them? If it's neutral or higher, I'd say you are wasting time because I was neutral with them when I got him to join me. If its still worse than neutral, try raising it to that point and trying again.

Could someone help me out? I have all the companions besides Veronica. I must have used the wrong dialogue the first time around or something because whenever I try to talk to her she says, "Couldn't get enough of talking to me the first time, huh?" and the only dialogue option I have is to say "Goodbye." now I've tried this without any companions, with different combinations of companions and i've used the elevator in vault 22 just for kicks. I looked around and it seems like i'm just screwed this play through which is ridiculous so I was just wondering if any of you have any insight? Thank you for any help or tips you can give me for me to try without having to start an entirely new playthrough and have to go recruit all the companions again. Thanks very much!

Cass disappeared for me after her caravan quest, which I did early. I did not recruit her (but asked, she refused as I had a companion) then she took off. Later on, I loaded an old save to get this achievement, but couldn't find her in the Mojave outpost or the other places suggested at all. I already had Boone earlier and then had Rex and Raul the rest of the time. When I went back to this save, I got Lily, Gannon, and EDE. Veronica would not join me and kept saying "Leave me alone" BUT the achievement popped as soon as she rejected me the first time. So I never really recruited her or Cass but the dialogue seems to have allowed them to count. Weird stuff.

After collecting all of the companions, this didn't pop. So I dismissed the final one that I recruited (Raul) and then got him to be my partner again. This made the achievement pop.

I think it's Raul that makes the achievement buggy, because after recruiting everyone, nothing popped for me. I came back to the Lucky 38 where I send them after recruiting them, I recruited again each one, and after Raul it popped. As some other users here talked about Raul as buggy, I made the link.

I also got this achievement without the 8th people (never been to Jacobstown yet so it's Lily that is missing). I think you (The 7imekeeper) should mention something about the companions in the "guide. A glitch-like thing happened to me (as it happened to others as well): one of my companions suddenly stopped following me, he/she just got lost in the desert without saying a word. I didn't order them to wait, they just disappeared. I found a way to make them reappear without traveling anywhere: just sleep/wait in any location for several hours and they will appear. In my case Arcade was missing for at least 2 days, but eventually he came home :D

Tried this and it worked. Cheap? Yeah, but this was about my 6th partial play through and had recruited everyone at one time or another.

Achievement won't pop for me on PC. I haven't used any console commands or anything, and other achievements have popped just fine, but no matter what I try it won't pop. I have all companions, and I've recruited and dismissed all of them over and over again just to be sure and it just won't give me the achievement.

Weird, My achievement was awarded while I only recruited 5 of the 8 companions (Boone, Raul, Vernonica, Lilly and Cass). I had asked Arcade Gannon to join me, earlier but I already had a companion.

What is with Boone's quest not working out right? I could not get anybody to go to the Dinosaur even after I had gotten the evidence so I made them fight me as I lured them to the Dino and put the red beret on but he wouldn't shoot them. Need help!

Oh and Raul isn't as hard if you stealth through and have a decent science. Alternatively, try going all the way around the mountain from Neil's shack to the north, keeping to the high ground as much as possible. You'll pass near the Rangers Safe House or something like that. Shorty after that, there'll be a decent path you can go up the mountain on, and you'll be at the village there. Sneak around the village away from all the super mutants, and once you get to the path up to the radio tower, bum rush to the storage building, ignoring the nightkin. Once inside the building, fix Rhonda, tell it to follow you, then go back outside. Tabitha will thank you, then leave. All the nightkin will now be passive, and Raul can be gotten at your liesure. Check the unlocked terminal, read entry 6, then unlock his door with the other terminal. Tell him he's free to go, and when he complains about being all alone, tell him to come with you.

You can still get this without deleting any patches. Just go to Raul's Shack after he disappears(it will be marked on the map after you dismiss him)and keep recruiting and dismissing him. Rinse and repeat until you have the achievement :-)

Please note that (until the game is patched) that you can glitch this achievement by recruiting and dismissing Raul (other characters may working), I had recruited 5 and then asked Raul to follow me again and then switched to another follower (Raul uses a gun mainly and I wanted a CQB person). Then I needed Raul and the achievement popped..

Since companions can get killed before you recruit them, to get this achievement would mean starting the game from the very beginning if you didn't have a save before a companion got killed. That would make this achievement Missable if it wasn't for your solution, so thank you. Unless of course you killed Raul!

Confirmed still working on series x gamepass release of new vegas without the dlc.

I did this with Raul while at lucky 38 after having a total of 3 companions recruited. I kept dismissing and recruiting Raul and it popped.

In order to get this achievement, you need to convince every companion in Fallout: New Vegas to accompany you. Companions from DLCs are not counted.

You will need to hire and travel with the following companions in one playthrough:

- Arcade Gannon: He can be found in the Old Mormon Fort in Freeside. In order to recruit him, you will need to have or do one of the following: High rep with the Followers, completed the "High Times" quest, Speech 75, the Confirmed Bachelor perk, or Intelligence of 3 or lower. If you have positive rep with Caesar's Legion, he will not join you under any circumstances.

- Craig Boone: He can be found in Novac on the top of the Dinky the T-Rex at night. You will need to complete "One for My Baby" to unlock him as a companion.

- ED-E: He can be found in the Nash Residence in Primm. To unlock him as a companion, you will need to repair him. This requires passing a Repair check of 65, a Science check of 55 and a Repair check of only 35, or by finding three scrap metals, two sensor modules, and scrap electronics.

- Lily Bowen: A mutant who can be found in Jacobstown. You must complete the quest "Guess Who I Saw Today" to unlock her.

- Raul Tejada: He can be found in Black Mountain. You will need to complete the quest "Crazy, Crazy, Crazy" to recruit him.

You don't need to complete "I Could Make You Care" for Veronica. All you have to do is go to 188 Trading Post and talk to her; as long as you aren't hostile towards the Brotherhood of Steel, she'll join you.

Some of you may know that Boone and Arcade can't be recruited if you're reputation with the Legion is 'accepted' or better. I simple wore NCR faction armour to get the option to have them join.

Raul can be found at Black Mountain during the quest "Crazy, crazy, crazy"

Lily can be found in Jacobstown during the quest "Guess who i saw today"

Rex resides at the King's HQ in Freeside after completing GI Blues

Cass is at the Mojave Outpost, she can be recruited after completing simple quests for the crimson caravan company.

Boone can be found at the top of the dinosaur in Novac at night, you need to complete his side mission "One for my baby" by revealing a certain someone as the culprit with the bill of sale.

Veronica at the 188 Trading Post if you're not vilified by the Brotherhood of Steel

Arcade at the Old Mormon Fort in Freeside
