This guide is very good
but i just wanted to add what i did in the second year to the end of it to make it even easier.
As it says if you pick a bad team in the league and then add the created players then the goals will be low and therefore the reputation given will be more frequent; for example if they expect you to reach the 2nd round of the FA cup then you will gain +8 for reaching that but then another +3 for reaching round 3 +4 for reaching round 4 etc. also you should recieve plus one in the league every now and then if your aim is to avoid relegation or mid table. THe johnstone paint trophy and league cup will not affect you rep as there shouldn't be any board expectations on them, therefore do not worry if you get knocked out of them. however to ensure maximum rep, save a copy of the file before every FA cup match so you can retry if you lose..
So after using these rules you should just be a 4 star manger by the end of year 1.
Now the important bit. when it asks you if you want to renew the contracts of all your created players DO NOT. this is because if you have them then the board expectations will be very high and you will be expected to win it all however if you do not resign them then the board expectation will be the same as the first year.
THEN, go to staff upgrades and make your negotiator level 10. then go to transfer list, search free agents and all your 99 people will be there, to sign them they will first be on 0% to sign, but increase theyre wages until the percentage will not go up any more, then they will sign for you. the only problem is that your weekly wage budget will mean you will not be able to sign all of them but you should get between 7-9 of them which is enough to win nearly every match. Again save before every FA cup match and EFA match and once you get to the 3rd round of the FA cup (your first match in it) you will get the final +8 you need after getting the rep in the league and the first round of the EFA.
YOu should be 5 star before christmas yr 2.

I doubt it was you but if it was you who gave me a negative vote because you didnt get it i dont think thats fair . but it should've come up on the game in which when your rating went up
actually i've just seen youat the top of the recent winners list so i'm guessing it worked?

i think theres a few glitches with the achievements on fifa 10, my friend got 6 achievements for it while his xbox was off ;/ but well done :L :P

whoa, that's crazy. I was looking for info on how to get these achievements. I got "established" 5 star manager after simming two seasons in coca-cola league and into the 3rd season it popped. Then I was working on getting the 3 trophies in 1 season and figured i'd also try to transfer 50 players to get that achievement in the same season.
I ended up selling 4 players, then my xbox hung, so i turned it off. when i turned it back on, I had another 200+ points in achievements some of the exact same achievements Trigo7 said, but a few different ones. I already had a couple that Trigo7 mentioned (like Hard Earned Win and Established which I got previously). I don't know why that happened.
These popped all at the same time. This is the reverse order (the forward order I supposedly "got them") that it shows in my achievements screen...
*Recognize Anyone? 5G: Download your club member gamefaces
*Real Fan 50G: Play for over 50 hours (I really wanted to get this one on my own from playing a lot :( )
*Always Available 35G: Complete a Be A Pro Seasons without simming a game
*Wheeler Dealer 15G: Buy 50 players in Manager Mode (that's what i was trying to do anyway, guess I don't have to now)
*Challenging Schedule 45G: Complete a Season in Manager Mode without simming a game (I really wanted to do this one too, I was already 3/4 way through :( )
*Bad Loser 0G: Select to quit & forfeit 5 Xbox Live matches when losing
*A Good Start 15G (but I haven't even downloaded the DLC for ultimate team, so I don't know how I got this, I dled the trial only)
*Limited Resources 50G: Win a League or Cup in Manager Mode with a 1 star team or lower (wasn't even going to try this one)
All in all 215G that I'd prefer to have gotten on my own instead of some glitch. I don't have a super-high achievement score compared to people on TA, but all the ones I got I got legit until these 215 glitches. Argggggh

Dongle you might want to update the solution slightly, the part that says 'then go to the transfer list' is pretty shitty, took me ages to find how to add the 99 players again same as DaMasta.
What you want to say is go to 'Transfers', then 'Transfer Market', press Y to do a search, choose 'Detailed' then change the 'Transfer Staus' to 'Free Agent'.
Now while that's not hard, it's very different from just 'going to the transfer list'
Don't forget that some of us have never played a FIFA game before, some of us don't even care about Football games.
Being vague is one of the biggest annoyances with some solutions, and it's best to make sure that all people are able to understand and follow it.
