How to unlock the Skip to My Lou achievement in FINAL FANTASY IX - Definitive Guide

Working on the 1000 jump one now.
Time the A button presses with the sound of Vivi's feet hitting the floor.
Make sure you turn off the game music in the options to help (and i found headphones help as well).
The jumping speeds up at 20, 50 and then again at 100 (but you don't have to worry about that one for this achievement).
The actual place for doing this is very near the start of the game. To the left of the ticket booth you'll see 3 girls playing skip rope, talk to the middle girl and she'll ask if you wanna play with them.
EDIT: One other thing I've found helps as I'm trying to do the 1000 jump one. Instead of looking at the tv Ive been staring at my thumb as it hits the A button and imagining that the sound of the jumping is my thumb hitting the controller, like a bouncy ball.

Same as iberianham82, I used the scripts - https://psnprofiles.com/trophy/6669-final-fantasy-ix/23-hail... (more in depth explanation than just the youtube link) but it always fails somewhere just over 100.

The autohotkey script cheat ps4 version works in this 100 jump one, but no in the 1000, obviously you have to do it in windows 10 version, but it count in xbox one because it is "play anywhere"

Just a side note: later on in the story when you return to Alexandria, the girls move to the chapel area of the city, but you must have Vivi or Eiko in your party to participate.

I couldn’t get past 30 jumps, do you have to connect directly to your router? I’ll have to bring my pc downstairs then.

This is the most rage inducing thing I've ever done in my life. I'm going to put my head through the screen in a minute.

Once you get the hang of it I didn't find the 100 one too bad but the double dutch thing at 200 is absolutely brutal, the 1000 one is slowly eating away my soul. I'm not sure if it's just me but I feel like the windows 10 version is slower than the Xbox one version.

Double tap at 200 keeps screwing me over too. Highest ive managed was 229. I think if i can get past the 300 transition id be fine.

I've been playing about with the script the entire day and have confirmed 246 but can't get it higher or consistent.

Playing on Windows 10 with a wired Cherry Red MX keyboard I was able to get 305.

This is just me but I feel minimal lag on PC but the Xbox and wireless controller 4k tv laggy combo is much more brutal.

@Purpltreefrog The 200-300 is the killer. If you can survive that and the transition back into a regular rhythm, you stand a good chance. I tried hundreds of times, and I got the 1000 achievement on the 4th time I broke the 300 barrier. Don't know how I held out, I was shaking like a shitting dog and the sweat was dripping off me when I got to 500.

Check on x360a. There’s a solution on there which seems really complicated.

the script is for the ps4 version, i think editing the script could work...but i have no idea, i tried to change some parameters ...poor results...i tried the steam version using RIVA tune and autokeyboard but with even poorer results! I hope someone with some knowledge can help us here.

Yeah, I'm finding that too. The only problem I have with the Windows 10 version is that game runs at different speeds depending on whether those two kids are on screen or not. It's only by a few fps, but it's enough to throw you off your rhythm.

I can get to 300 consistently when my PC doesn't fuck me over like that, but for the life of me I just can't transition from double Dutch to normal again.

Jump rope is available on two different occasions throughout the game; in Alexandria's Town Square at the start of Disc 1 when you are playing as Vivi and in the Steeple much later during Disc 3 and after.

To take part in the mini-game talk to the girl jumping in the center of the rope and Vivi will take over. You have to press X to jump every time the ! field icon appears. It starts off slowly but it speeds up incrementally after 20 jumps, then 50 jumps, then 100 jumps and so on.

Getting to 100 jumps is sometimes frustrating but not all that difficult. Keep practicing especially the transitions and rhythm after 20 and 50 jumps and you should unlock this trophy without much difficulty. Some people have more success using the sound pattern of Vivi's footsteps rather than visually looking for the ! field icon. If you are having trouble you can also try the other location. Some people claim that it is easier to time the jumps visually in the Steeple during Disc 3.
