How to unlock the The Dragoon Descends achievement in FINAL FANTASY XV POCKET EDITION HD - Definitive Guide
After an annoying amount of retries and a fair bit of research into triggering Ally Commands, I seem to have found a consistent strategy that works.
In my case, having beaten the game first and going back through for cleanup, my characters are all within the 40-50+ range. Damage output or intake are nothing to worry about at this point.
Having so much extra strength at this point, I found using the Armiger at the beginning of the fight tends to get it down to about 40-45% health before taking flight for the QTE. Almost immediately following, Aranea starts showing the Highwind command when battle resumes. Still have yet to get the timing down for the kill shot, but I saw no solutions anywhere stating how to trigger the command to start with, and I thought this might help more than “if Noctis’ health is low, commands show up more.”
Hopefully this can help anybody trying for it. Hope to have it soon myself. Good luck everybody!

I am such an idiot, I tried to dashboard the game after failing the get it at the end and lost all my data for this achievement haha. Now I need to start from the beginning again.
This achievement with the RNG aspect is really annoying. If you miss your shot, you have to redo the whole mission again.
This achievement is actually fucking stupid. So many attempts, even when you can't see the life bar and it doesn't kill it and Ignis comes in with a sneaky hit.

Firstly she prompted waaaaaay more often for me than Cor did so I found this much easier.
After you get the 3rd QTE (hold down X to cut him mid-air) is when I found I could get the final strike.
Try to time highwind right before the health bar is invisible, I actually had to get a few extra hits with the seemingly empty health bar while she was in midair the 1st time as it didn't finish him off.
