How to unlock the Overachiever achievement in Ghostbusters: The Video Game - Definitive Guide

The solution description is a bit deceptive and reports on how to obtain it are all over the place. One thing we all know for sure is you need $2.5 million dollars. However, keep in mind it won't pop automatically there. Mine didn't pop until $8.6 million.

I'm convinced you need 50 job victories. I'm not sure with the word 'completion' means just finishing it avoiding failure but on the safe side I'd bet on 50 victories until someone else can confirm otherwise.

Finally I'm of the belief you need 30 different awards. Some other boosters claim that they did it with 30 awards but not all different. Mine didn't pop until I got a new award I hadn't gotten previously, so I'm leaning more towards the "different" rather than just accumulating awards. It wouldn't make sense since you have to play 50 matches anyways and 50 matches is 50 awards.

Here is a list of the awards and what to do to get them:

-- Any Map Awards
* The Real Ghostbuster - Most ghosts trapped or destroyed
* Aint Afraid Of No Ghost - Least amount of knockouts
* Medic - Most revivals of teammates
* Most Revived - Most times revived by a teammate
* Marathon Runner - Longest total distance traveled in the match
* Slowpoke - Shortest total distance traveled in the match
* Slime Magnet - Most times slimed
* Rollin In Dough - Most cash earned in the match
* Broke - Least cash earned in the match
* Tech Head - Most power-ups collected in the match
* Purist - Fewest power-ups collected in the match
* Itchy Trigger Finger - First Person to shoot in the round
* Nice Shootin Tex - Highest accuracy with the Proton beam (including the Boson Dart)
* Light Show - Lowest accuracy with the Proton beam (including the Boson Dart)
* Dead Aim - Most ghosts hit with the Meson Collider (including alternate fire)
* Darkest Matter - Most ghosts hit with the Shock Blast (including the Stasis beam)
* Ghosticle - Most ghosts frozen with the Stasis Beam
* Slimer - Most shots with the Slime Blower (including the Slime Tether)
* Befriender - Most ghosts turned into good guys with Pink Slime
* Duckin and Dodgin - Most dodges and jumps
* Slammer - Most wrangled ghost slams
* Long Time Wrangler - Longest ghost wrangle
* Demolitions Man - Most ghosts damaged in a single explosion

-- Containment Specific Awards
* Keeping An Eye Out - Longest period of time in PKE goggle view
* My Ghosts My Trap - Most ghosts trapped in your own trap
* We Came We Saw - First person to trap 10 ghosts

--Destruction Specific Awards
* Destruction Master - Most Evil Relics destroyed
* Smashy Smashy - First player to destroy 10 Evil Relics
* Blink Out - Most ghosts eliminated by destroying Evil Relics
* Rampager - Shortest period of time between destroying two Evil Relics

--Survival Specific Awards
* Soul Survivor - Longest run without getting knocked out
* Team Savior - Revived each teammate at least once
* First Death - First knockout of the round
* Commando - Highest ghost defeat to player knockout ratio

--Slime Dunk Specific Awards
* MVP - Most points in Slime Dunk
* Slimer Wrangler - Longest amount of time wrangling Slimer
* Slimer Dodger - Least number of times knocked down by Slimer
* Gloop Dreams - First person to perform 5 Slime Dunks in the match

--Thief Specific Awards
* Best Rescuer - Most Artifacts returned to the safe zone
* First Rescuer - First player to destroy an Artifact thief
* Red Handed - The player who destroys the most Artifact thieves

--Protection Specific Awards
* True Protector - Trap 3 ghosts in a row while the active PKE Disruptor remains undamaged
* Comeback Kid - Trap 3 ghosts in "Sudden Death"
* Vendetta - Be the first to destroy or capture a ghost after it has damaged a PKE Disruptor

Now you only get one award at the end of the match. I'm assuming that you get the award you accumulated the most over the entire match.

Good luck and good hunting!

Edited the list of awards to show the maps too.

Yes. You get a medal after every mission in the campaign.

So ranked campaign is the easiest to get lots of medals in 3 different ones at end of game if you lucky right.

I. Hate. This. Achievement.

It seems like no matter what I do, if I am the top player in the match, I get all the awards for being the best player in the match.

If I am not the best player, I always get either Light Show (despite guaranteeing 100% accuracy or having someone with lower accuracy) or Slime Magnet (despite making sure never to get attacked).

There is some weird crap going on with this one. Just got it at $8.2 Mil, well over 50 wins, and somewhere around 26 awards. I also got it on a match I lost and an award I know I've gotten many times. There is something weird going on.

There's a lot of messed up achievements on this game. I have $4.2m, more than 50 completed, and I thought I would have 30 awards by now. There's no way to check which ones you have gotten.

K, that was weird. I just got Employee of the Month and Overachiever at the same time. I had (finally) won a slime dunk map and got the MVP award (I don't think I had it before).

Yeah 50 "Completed" Jobs means 100% Complete ..... I just did Destruction with one other person 50 times (2 People = 26 Targets). Then yeah you need 30 different awards.

Mine popped the other day I was on $8.6 million had played 264 games with 107 victories and it popped on a job I failed and got awarded an badge I had been given a million times before.

Best advice is just to keep playing and it will unlock when it feels like it lol

Thing what bugs me about achievements as a whole is that the criteria is been counted whenever you kill or collect or win a game all behind the scenes so why not just make it visible like GoW2 so you know where you are.

Unlocked for me around 7.7 million, on a losing Slime Dunk with the Light Show award. So I reiterate what's already here. This will happen eventually. It's kind of like the weapon achievements in Gears of War. They're not glitched they just don't happen when they're supposed to.

Finally! Damn thing didn't pop till $11.1 million. I was playing a campaign and got it, after the first round, on an award I already had (Destruction Master). Although one thing I did notice is that I had just reached $2.5 million in campaign only.

The key to this is actually 50 jobs completed* Meaning victories. If you die before the timer on any of the matches, it is not job complete. If you don't kill the last ghost on survival, it's not job complete. Your stats just shows jobs "played", that doesn't mean they were actually completed

$9.1 million. 26 different awards. At least 50 victories. I received the award after placing first but losing a game of destruction and receiving Smashy Smashy. It's possible that I've received that award at least 30 times by itself.

got it last night in a game where i got 2nd (out of 2) in an instant slime dunk match. i was at about 5.7 million (2.1 million from campaign) and got the award light show which i've gotten about 30 times probably. Don't know how this worked out

Passed 2.5 million and achievement popped. It does NOT have to be 30 DIFFERENT Post job awards. I only received about 15 different post job awards and the achievement popped for me. Of course it does seem YMMV.

I have 50 'light show' awards before even counting any other.

I got the achievement after playing a game of thief in the Reading Room. Which was just after a game of thief on the Reading Room before it. 4 artifacts saved both times. 'Red Handed' awarded to me both times. Came first both times.
Ended up with 28 unique awards.

yeh... this is why it randomly is happening "different times for different people".. Usually when they get it on a new award... You generally only get new awards that are not slime dunk or light show.. when you get 1st.... likely putting you to the "50 victory" mark... if not and you lost and got it... its likely because you finally hit 30 of the same award for getting last place again...

Again... just going with what happened with me and the people I've seen it pop for... :)

In my experience I was usually clocking in at rank #1 or #2 on every match I was doing. I think mine randomly popped when I came in at a lower rank with a new award. I think it is very much a situation where "your mileage may vary" for it. I just wish that we knew what was going on in the background...

Mine popped yesterday. I had close to 8.9 million and i did not get a unique title.. I got lightshow (for the millionth time) when it popped. So i guess its really random when it unlocks because im sure i already had everything that was needed for the achievement.

This was my last achievement and it unlocked the moment I got a new award (befriender) and that was my 31st new award. Definitely adds up to over 30 post job awards as I knew I had definitely got over 2.5 million overall and way over 50 jobs completed having near enough gone through the list twice for gozers most wanted

This has to be one of the most broken achievements I've ever went for:
My stats:
Campaign Cash: $ 577189
Instant Cash: $ 10452426
Unique post-job awards: 31
Jobs completed: Well over 50, got the Gozer's achievement ages ago..
I don't understand why this achievement is not flagged as buggy- , at this point I really start to think this achievement glitched for me for good..
EDIT:
Just popped the achievement at a combined score of $ 11140115, thank god. However this should still be marked as buggy-

This was my last online achievement for this game, I got it after getting the Slowpoke medal for what felt like the 100th time. I had $4,736,729. I played 53 Survival Jobs, 17 Destruction Jobs, 46 Containment Jobs, 14 Protection Jobs, 16 Thief Jobs, and 17 Slime Dunks played. We only got through the first wave of Survival.

I agree that it was 50 Victories, not the minimal completions. I had well over 50 completions and no achievement but today after by my count hitting the 55th Victory it popped. So either there's still a little bit of a glitch there or 5 of my Victories towards Gozer didn't count somewhere so far -_- For other stats I had over $8 million overall cash according to the main stats and 33 unique awards. Leaderboards show I have 0 for campaign cash for some reason but Instant Cash showed over $3 million. I'm convinced it's Victories required due to this because all other requirements have been met for awhile and it only just popped today after the 50th/55th Victory (I wish I knew which Gozer likely didn't count lol)

I just unlocked this and definitely don't have 50 victories, not even close. I only have about 3 million, maybe about 15 victories total and it unlocked after a 'round over' game. I'm fairly certain I didn't have 30 DIFFERENT medals either.

Actually I just checked stats and have a total of 90 games played so I'm guessing this was my 50th game that was anything besides a 'failure.'

Great solution, thumbs up!

This is an achievement of the "your mileage may vary" variety for sure. FYI for others- I just got this today and here's what happened: we played a 4 player containment map (which I've already "Victory" completed) and we received a "Round Over" ending with me in last place earning the "Slime Magnet" title of which I have earned many times prior.

Achievement unlocked.

Now here are my stats: $5,800,000 total earned, 24 different job titles, and 40 job "Victories". This most definitely should not have unlocked for me yet and I just wanted to share this for others going for this achievement that YMMV (your mileage may vary).

I only played after the 12/2010 patch by the way.

It popped when I had about $4.5 million (2.1 in Campaign and 2.4 in Instant). We were going for 10 slimers on non-slime dunks, so we were crossing the streams at the beginning of a Containment when slimer did not appear. All of us were ranked 1st with $0 earned, and I was getting the same award many times in a row. That is when it popped. Could it be that first place finishes help? - I only ask because we did tie many times when slimer did not appear as the first ghost.

By the way, I played a lot before the patch and now I have earned about $2-2.5 million after the patch.

I am just passing along my experience to add to the confusion of when this achievement should pop! Good luck to anyone going for this one.

As of 9/2/22 Online does work for this game. Based on other comments I have seen around the web achievements are working and the bugged ones may have been fixed with a patch. Some friends and I are going to work on these. Once we can confirm if everything works, I will update here.

As of now though the online portion of this game does work. There are almost no players online.

Also as a side note... if you have not played since Xbox360, this game is backwards compatible. If you start the game up on a newer console it will pull your cloud save if you have one there.

When you load the game up on a newer console it will tell you that it is going to overwrite your save data. THIS DOES NOT DELETE YOUR SAVE. It upgrades the save file for use on the newer consoles. If you still want to go back and play on the 360 then you will need to export the save (copy it) to a USB device from your 360.

Happy hunting!

Since i just got this.. thought id put my 2 cents in...

I believe you need to place 1st in the job for it to count as a "50 job" i had over 5 million in cash.. but played with lots of advanced players so was often in last place or second to last.. This caused me to get will over 30 in light show and slime dunk :)

It was not until i started getting better or playing with other people and getting first that this achievement popped... on a campaign none the less. according to a spread sheet i had 23 different award types and several had more than 30 in them.

I believe... for those still trying...and likely why there is so much confusion.. is you are likely counting games where you did not place 1st.. it seems it might be 30 of the SAME award... and the cash is kinda an obvious one.. :)

Hope that helps someone!

One theory I had, was that under the leaderboards, there's a "Campaign Cash" total. If THAT hit 2.5million, maybe it would pop it.

I was wrong lol. Guess it is like Gears, that it pops "when it feels like it." Or I need more awards. Who knows.

More data:
A group of 4 of us have been picking at these for about 4 months now. One other person and I have been in every session together without fail. (The other two have been in and out from time to time.) Yesterday we both popped the achievement in an instant action survival round on Twisted Stacks that we failed after round 2 and got awards we both have gotten before. I believe I was second in the round and he was third, but I am not certain about that. I was host. I have around 5.4 million, only 950k or so from online campaign. He has a few hundred thousand less, also less than a million from campaign..

Observations:
If failing after two rounds equals a job "completed" then we have 70 "completed" survival jobs alone. The money we have is well over 2.5 million, heavily weighted toward instant play and several hundred thousand from each other. We both had over 30 awards (33 for me) and popped it on a game in which we received an award we previously had. Given that we both popped it in the same game, either an extraordinary coincidence occurred or it was number of jobs completed that was the kicker for both of us. (This might also explain why Polar Slimer has not appeared even though we have so many jobs completed--or so we thought--and we both have had Wee Slimer for a while.)

Conclusion:
This game is messed up and the programmers are idiots. Only after months of hue and cry from the gaming community did they even admit that their achievements were glitched. The Xbox 360 patch to fix this (but only for those who had not played before the patch) came years later and only, I believe, to help sales of their new offering, Sanctum of Slime. Hell, these morons couldn't even figure out which achievement should be named "Gozer's Most Wanted" and which should be named "No Job Too Big".

It therefore may be futile to search for a pattern to such slipshod programming. Nevertheless, given that two of us popped it in the same game and "completed games" is the only stat we have in common, if I had to guess I would say that "completed games" was the mystery element for this achievement, at least for us.

Bottom Line:
Just keep playing, if you can stomach it. Unless you played pre-patch and it is permanently glitched for you, it should eventually pop. There's just no predicting when.

Here's some information I'd like to share with the TA community based on my experience with the multiplayer portion of this game.

The 'Overachiever' achievement will come naturally, as you work your way towards both 'Gozer's Most Wanted' & 'No Job Too Big':
Ghostbusters: The Video GameGozer's Most WantedThe Gozer's Most Wanted achievement in Ghostbusters: The Video Game worth 127 pointsSuccessfully complete each Xbox LIVE job in every location.

Ghostbusters: The Video GameNo Job Too BigThe No Job Too Big achievement in Ghostbusters: The Video Game worth 82 pointsDefeat all Most Wanted Ghosts.

Key Points
- Always play 'Ranked' matches.
- The difficulty scales based on the number of players you have in the match. Complete the matches with the minimum of 2 players, you and one other person, to ensure easier victories.
- The host will most often receive a more unique post-job award, then the other players in the match.
- You'll need at least 30 unique post-job awards, so be sure to rotate host when boosting with a partner. Otherwise, one of you will always get the dreaded '...Lightshow'
- Do not expect to earn this achievement once you hit that $2.5mil. career cash total. It unlocked for us between $5.5mil - $7mil each.

Below is a link to a checklist I've created, to help you track your progression for 'Overachiever'.

I think the other solution to this achievement is wonderful, I just thought that I would point something out. A lot of people complain because they only get Light Show or Slowpoke when you do not get the top earner spot. I have found that if you are playing with a 3 or 4 person team this will almost always happen, but if you only play with a 2 person team you will both recieve different and more varied awards more times than not. This works in campaign. Out of all the 2 person team missions I have played I didn't recieve LightShow or the other generic awards once, and I wasn't the top earner for most of them. I hope this helps a little on this pain in the ass achievement.

we both use the slimer almost exclusively.

That might be the problem, try using something your teammate isn't. Use the stasis stream or use it like a shotgun. One of you slime teather and one proton blast the crap out of whatever you are trying to hit. If you are both using the same thing you are competing with one another for a title.

I don't think that's the issue either, but it is a good thought. Maybe starting weapons can influence your awards. But from my experience I don't think that's the case.

I'm sorry it isn't working for you. It worked for me and it worked for other people I was helping which was what prompted me to write all that. I hope that you find something that works for you.

Yeah trying different weapons and purposely coordinating to achieve certain awards still fails. 2nd player always gets Light Show. And 1st place seemingly gets a variety sometimes, but typically gets one type more than anything else. It seems like there is a hierarchy of awards (i.e. Commando > Team Savior > _______ or whatever).
