How to unlock the Bleeding Thumbs achievement in God of War II - Definitive Guide

Unlike the first game, this game has 7 challenges which can be accomplished one at a time WITHOUT requiring one go through every challenge.

CHALLENGE 1
: Here you need to rip out a cyclops eye in under 40 seconds. Sounds a bit challenging, but honestly it isn't that bad. I just used Cronos Rage and smacked the big guy around with the Blade of Olympus until the mini-game prompted (takes ~20 seconds). You only have 2 other enemies that spawn (those little guys that will jump on the cyclop's back), but Cronos Rage will stun them so they don't interrupt your rhythm.

Bonus if you shatter 2 enemies.

NOTE: This is a decent place to farm cyclops eyes for this trophy
God of War IIEye SoreThe Eye Sore trophy in God of War II worth 45 pointsCollect 20 Cyclops Eyes

(although WeisGuy-9's solution is much faster wink)

CHALLENGE 2: This one was a bit annoying roll.

The objective here is kill 25 enemies while airborne (35 for the bonus). The L1 (block) + the X button will get enemies into the air, so that is the move to use. I would damage enemies until the mini-game prompt appeared, and then get them airborne (unless they were lesser enemies).

The only problem with this method is the gorgon's: if they land a hit while you are in the air, and turn you to stone, you shatter when you hit the ground. Not fun. Better to focus on those ladies first.

Weapons are your call here - I was using the Blade of Olympus here, but I also had some luck using the Spear (hold triangle, then tap triangle will volley enemies in the air).

CHALLENGE 3: Here you need to shatter 25 enemies (35 for the bonus). You have a gorgon spawn, and a bunch of aerial enemies, as well as some bomb throwing dudes, minotaurs, and cyclops. You also have no magic, meaning you need that gorgon to hit you with her stone cold stare, and send it back at everyone, in order to really get the numbers here.

My first go at this was unsuccessful - I ran out of time. That gorgon would not hit me with the stare that often. In my frustration I tried to grab her and saw that, after a grab she will always, 100% of the time, respond with a stare attack (as long as the mini-game prompt isn't available).

After I realized that, it was smooth sailing - I actually got over 50 shatters easily. laugh

CHALLENGE 4
: Here you need to defend a translator (the guys you sacrificed in the campaign to awaken the phoenix). You have magic, you have Rage of the Titans, and you have a statue here that will let you manipulate time.

I used the hammer here, and straight triangle (heavy) attacks. When the challenge starts, slow down time, switch to the hammer and let it fall hard on your enemies! laugh Also, most of these guys give you gold orbs (Rage meter), and while you manipulate time your rage meter barely moves, so go for spamming that move to drop baddies faster.

You need to keep the translator in the circle, but that circle will move (twice). You will need to pick him up and move him to where ever the circle appears, so keep an eye on that guys location. He will start to lose health outside of the circle.

CHALLENGE 5: Easiest...challenge...ever...

You need to collect orbs via combos. Here you want the Blade of Olympus. Make certain you have this thing maxed out, too.

Holding L1 (block) and pressing the circle button will have Kratos do a fancy move that literally drains orbs from the enemies within so many feet of him. I just spammed that move and, by the time the challenge was over I had well over 2.5k orbs. (Challenge requires 500, with 600 as a bonus wink)

CHALLENGE 6: Here your health is being drained (very, very slightly) and you need to survive wave after wave of enemies.

Once again, I went with Blade of Olympus and Cronos Rage. Cronos Rage doesn't use as much magic while doing area damage, and the Blade of Olympus, when maxed, has some serious range, and packs a punch.

Keep an eye out for different enemies, too. Certain enemies, like the club wielding pig-men, will give you health when you complete their mini-games. Some enemies, like the wizard guys, will give you magic just by killing them. Use what people provide at their defeat to your advantage. And remember: Cronos Rage will stun people. Bonus for not using Rage of the Titans.

CHALLENGE 7: Annoying challenge - you can not get hit. At all.

And you have the rock minotaur to deal with. He will wake up if you get too close.

Fortunately you just have him, some skeletons, some little cyclops riders and two wizard guys. Not bad, considering they also come out in waves. You also get a bonus here if you use no magic.

I watched a few videos on this (after failing miserably) and what I saw was mostly people going for circle moves (grabs). I would try it and fail every time. Eventually, I found my rhythm: by taking out the minotaur first! laugh Yes, yes, I am crazy, but I found with that guy awake, he will do a lot of damage to everyone else. And you can stand behind him, smacking him around until he does his helicopter move.

I would activate Rage, run behind him and wail on his backside with the Blade of Olympus. Once he was down everyone else fell without an issue.

Great guide. I had huge problems with #3 until I figured out that you have to parry the stare. Otherwise it's impossible to freeze the bigger enemies.

For #5 you have to upgrade the blade before starting the challenge. Otherwise those spent orbs will count against you, making it impossible to succeed.

i think they patched challenge number 5 cause, when i boost my sword to lvl 2 i have -9000 ords, if i boost to lvl max i have -34000 orbs, making it impossible to do it the way you say to do it :(

forget about what i just said, you most have it lvl max BEFORE going in the challenge, went in challenge 1, boost it to lvl max then complete it and save progress, when i went to challenge 5 i had 0 red orb so i was good to complete it the easy way

For challenge 4, the circle doesn't strictly move 2 times, first time I died it had moved 4 times (I got so angry when it failed because I thought 2 times was the maximum, like your guide stated) and when i just completed it, it had only moved 3 times.

Challenge 2: It's 10 enemies (20 for Bonus), and you should add that you need to survive, I thought after 10 I was good, but no, I need to survive until the timer runs out ><

Challenge 5 : your tip didn't work for me, I had to use Crono's Rage, because L1 + Circle did not work on those enemies, I was blocked every time

Here is the hardest Trophy in the game to get. Unlike God of War, you don’t have to do all 7 Challenges in a single sitting. It is advised that you power up and use the Blade of Olympus for these Challenges, as well as all weapons. The best way to illustrate how to do these Challenges is through youtube videos of random strangers destroying them.
Challenge #1
Rip out the eye of the Cyclops before time runs out
I did this by using Chronos’ Rage 3-4 times then using the Blade of Olympus once or twice for the mini-game to pop up. I personally did it in 17 seconds.
Challenge #2
Kill at least 10 enemies in the air before time runs out
I recommend using the Athena Blades here so you can hold to vault them into the air, then use that time to kill them before they hit the ground.
Challenge #3
Stone Shatter at least 25 enemies before time runs out
I recommend trying to grab a Medusa because it will immediately attack you. Then you just have to press and whatever button pops up on screen quickly. That way all or most enemies on screen will be in stone, ready for an easy kill which counts towards your total here. Make sure that when you get to 25, you survive until the end of the round. Otherwise you'll have to start over.
Challenge #4
Defend the Translator from being killed. The translator’s health with drain outside of the ring.
This one will cause the most trouble for most people. Save your Rage of the Titans for the end to protect from the onslaught of Satyr’s and Cyclops. You also have to drag the Translator around to prevent him from dying. Make sure you slow down time then carry him to the next circle.
Challenge #5
Collect 500 Red Orbs.
This is really simple. Stone Shatter the harpies and just take down the other enemies. You should have this in no time.
Challenge #6
Kill all the enemies before your Health runs out
This one is a little difficult, but nothing too daunting. Remember that on the Minotaurs by initiating the mini-game you will gain health back by doing each one successfully and using Rage of the Titans stops your health from draining.

You simply get this Trophy for beating the game.

Feel the Urn
- Collect and use at least 2 Urns of Power

You can get 4 Urns of Power in any of your playthroughs, as well as an additional 2 by completing Challenge of the Titans. In order to get this Trophy, you need to start a second playthrough (aka Bonus Play). You can skip cutscenes to when you gain control of Kratos. Then go to the menu and press or until you see where your Urns of Power are. Simply enable 2 of them and the Trophy is yours.

The Urns can be quite tricky to find without prior knowledge, so here is a video guide from soynegroyque13 which details their locations:

YouTube
Furthermore, thanks to the work of ICPosse8, who has provided written locations of all 6 Urns:

Secret Urn Location Guide

[Urn #1] Urn of Gaia (Red orbs give 10x normal amount) - The first urn is located shortly after beginning the game in the Rhodes Palace. When you get to the section where you have to move the concrete block, with a breakable golden eagle on top, kick the block through the door and then continue to drag it to your right and then forward. The camera will pan back and you will be able to see 3 chests on top of a ledge. Break the golden eagle, allowing you to jump on top of the block, and grab the urn.

[Urn #2] Urn of the Gorgons (Weapons turn enemies to stone on contact) – After you have retrieved the Golden Fleece back track to the door with the Gorgon head. The one that shoots the gorgon gaze at you. Ignore this door for now and go to the left; where you went originally. Once you get to the Ruins of the Forgotten go to where you tipped over that stone gazebo type building. Go through the door again and begin to backtrack through this section once more. When you get past the huge gears in the bloody river continue along the path and use the time stop ability to cross the spinning gear one more time. Once you get to the conveyor belt with the gorgon heads flashing go to the 2nd set and use the Fleece to repel the flash. This breaks a hole in the wall revealing the urn.

[Urn #3] Urn of Olympus (Grants Infinite Magic) – In the area where you earn the Spear of Destiny there will be a Fates statue that you are able to drag around. Grab it and push it down the ramp of the hallway you just came from and then to the pool of water you crossed earlier. Go across the pool and activate the amulet, then run around to where the floor switch was guarding the chests beyond. Step on the switch and run through the door and the urn is yours.

[Urn #4] Urn of Prometheus (Infinite Rage of the Titans) – When you are climbing Atlas there will be a point where you have to climb across the ceiling. Look for a large stalactite hanging from the ceiling. Break it and it will reveal a hole you can climb up. Urn is in here.

[Urn #5] Urn of the Fates (Extends Combo Meter time) – Achieve an overall ranking of Mortal or above on the Challenge of the Titans.

[Urn #6] Urn of Poseidon (Replaces Chronos Rage with Poseidon’s Rage) – Achieve an overall ranking of Spartan or above on the Challenge of the Titans.

Challenge #7
Defeat all the enemies without being hit
This one gave me some trouble, so I basically ending up doing it by just spamming Chronos’ Rage. The best solution is to save the Titan Minotaur for last.

SinRG's Strategy:
- Switch to the Blade of Olympus
- Use on the skeletons and when the button prompt occurs, press
- Once all skeletons have been defeated, new monsters will start to spawn
- Wait until the spawn animation is almost done, then run behind the Titan Minotaur and active Chronos' Rage (this should damage the Titan Minotaur and kill most of the spawned enemies)
- Quickly jump out before the Titan Minotaur begins his spin attack, and then just spam Chronos' Rage from a safe distance (this should defeat all remaining spawned monsters and the Titan Minotaur)

the second test is easily passed with a spear. on a triangle, throws the enemy into the air and continues to hit. you don't even need to jump. passed with a spear the first time

The most problematic was the second test, killing enemies in the air. The rest do not cause any difficulties.

First, upgrade all your main weapons and especially the sword of fate, don’t even bother without leveling up, you’ll waste time.

All tests are easy, it is enough to have Kronos’s blades and magic pumped to the maximum.
About the test where you have to kill enemies in the air:
Knocked up by holding the deadest enemies into the air, then block + in the air it chops once or twice. For enemies that take longer to kill, wait until they light up on the head and do the same as with dead animals.
Test with turning to stone: we provoke the gorgon to freeze , block, pop-up button - destroy.
The rest of the tests don't even require hints.
PS I didn’t watch the video tips above

The second test was carried out using two button combinations. L+X throws enemies into the air, followed by L + square. Didn't cause any difficulties
