How to unlock the Band Leader achievement in Grease Dance - Definitive Guide

I was having real trouble with this one, but have finally figured it out. The key seems to be the score multiplier in the top left hand corner of the screen. Keep an eye on it. As you increase the no. of notes you hit consecutively the multiplier starts to increase from x2 up to x5. As soon as the score multiplier hits x5 it turns yellow and the achievement pops. It's easier to watch this than counting the no. notes you hit, which was what I was trying to do initially. I got it with "Those Magic Changes" It's a good one to try as it goes at a slower speed than the other songs.

I keep losing my streak do to overstrumming but true my eyes I do it 100% perfect.. Do you know if it registers up-stums too because I only downstrum and reposition my hand after each note.

You have to keep going a little past 5x's, not right when you hit it. Another 5 notes or so. I did it on Summer Nights as the ending is very slow and easy to get a good streak on.

If you are struggling to get a high score on this, here's a trick that worked for me. I was getting so fed up with the game not seemingly picking up my left hand correctly that I grabbed a decent sized TV remote and held it out in my left hand to lengthen my arm a bit. Worked a treat. My score on Summer Nights rocketed up to 135,000+ I hadn't managed more that 60,000 before that. Try it and see if it works for you.

This is impossible, the game recognize only one of two, it really sucks.

Argh... the other minigames are bad but this one just doesn't even see your hand.

I found keeping the strum consistent 4ths alt strumming, and starting each note early, I was able to easily get 100,000 points and this achievement. Shifting is a little weird on the timing, but the earlier the better in my experience.

This isn't hard. Pick "You're the one that I want" It has two sections which are very "easy" a guy singing solo and girl singing solo section, where the notes come in 3's and are evenly spaced. The only thing between you and the achievement is the horrible, and I mean, horrible visual recognition. You can wave your arms around randomly, do pretty much anything, and it will recognize it as a strum, chord change, etc. Try not to let the game lull you into trying a bajillion things, and stick to what works. I found it was better to keep strumming even when there are no notes on screen to keep my rhythm. Calmly move your hand or arm to the correct chord, up or down, and keep your arm parallel for the middle sections. Leaning does work to if you get bored, but you tend to turn into a tea pot fairly quickly. I'd try this song 5-6 times a day until you get the achievement. All together, I put about an hour and a half into it before it popped. As has been said, watch for the 5X multiplier, it should pop a few chords after that.

Another fun minigame. Here, you need to press  and/or  when they show in the screen. It’s important to know you NEED to move the controller at the same time as you press the buttons because pressing isn’t enough to count.

Summer Nights (3:35) is one of the best options here because it is longer, but any other song should work.
