How to unlock the Deceitful achievement in GreedFall - Definitive Guide

I’m not 100% sure if this is a bug or not, but my achievement popped from a vial Aphra threw.

If companion attacks count towards the grind, these achievements are just a matter of playtime with certain companions. If not, definitely invest in the instant trap placement upgrade (only needs 1 point) and spam the elemental traps when surrounded. Most of the beasties are resistant to everything except for that so it does a decent amount of damage.

Poison traps are also great as they double down towards the poison achievement grind, though upgrading the bomb ultimate will knock that one out in no time.

Also, vials may count towards this (since Aphra’s apparently counted for me) but I never messed with them so I’m not fully certain.

Your own vials definitely count towards this, mine popped after throwing a vial and not using a trap for hours.

Just confirming that only using Aphra's vials still work, just unlocked the cheevo without using any traps or vials myself.

This achievement requires you to land 200 attacks with the traps. The traps require the use of a consumable to create as well as a skill unlocked to be able to use them, which you may have at the start depending on your chosen character vocation, or else can be unlocked with the use of 2 skill points. These are slightly different to the other attacks since you need to bait enemies into walking over them, so be sure to drop them around you when in combat, especially against monster enemies since they have a tendency to rush/charge at you. Any traps that don't get set off in combat can be retrieved if you unlock a further skill in the same tree as where you unlock the traps, to save on wasting too many materials.

As with the other weapon/attack achievements, you will land more than 300 attacks during a single playthrough, so you can put these attack achievements to the back of your mind. Once you unlock one of them, be sure to start working on a different one to cut down on unneccessary grinding.

Mini guide: played as a magician, collected 500 russula and 600 pine resin, made 200 traps, spent 400 resin and 200 russula on it. I redistributed the skills to the engineer, went to the arena, started the 2nd battle, 2nd round, and knocked it out in 30 minutes, spending only 100 traps. You can buy resin from a merchant, it’s cheap, I did it in extreme sports.
