if beating the game on hard it should take aprox. 15-20 hours of game play but your overall gs haul is worth it as you'll practically have every achievement

You will unlock items to purchase and use as you win tournaments during your career. After each event items you unlocked will pop up on your screen. To buy an item you unlocked go into career and select manage team. Then with the person you are using press to bring up a loadout list. Select which items you want to buy by pressing on them, it will then ask you if you want to equip it for use. Just select yes or no. You will have to do this for every item in the game.
You have to unlock the number of items next to each category, but please note that you have some items already unlocked but have to still purchase them at the start of your career.
