Complete a song on Expert + in Quickplay or Career (drums only)

How to unlock the Hero of the Day achievement in Guitar Hero: Metallica - Definitive Guide

I've seen a lot of solutions, but only one is the best:

-You need a microphone (i believe headset also works)
-You need a drumkit ofcourse
-You need a fan (i put my microphone on the back of the 360, where the fans are, make sure your 360 fans are loud enough to make it work) but the easiest way is just take your old fan out of the dust and that works the best.

1. Go to quickplay -> band
2. Make sure your drumkit is connected to your actual account, while your microphone is signed to a controller with a second account.
3. Select 'wherever i may roam'
4. This is important : put the microphone on beginner, and drumkit on expert+
5. play the song and when you're in trouble, use the starpower produced by the microphone
6. Achievement unlocked

this worked very well for me! should be noted that the achv description says (drums only) but as the solution above you can play in quickplay - band with vocals on beginner to help you boost. i got this achv and it also works using band Career. i had to make a couple practice runs but went from finishing the beginner drum career to playing Wherever I May Roam on expert+ to bag this achv all in just a few hours. very repetitive pattern :)

I'm not that great on drums but I was able to make it through Wherever I May Roam on Expert + w/Rockband 1 drum kit and a single pedal.

This took a few tries to pop in band mode, for me. I think I had 3-4 songs on Expert+ before it popped.

I'd like to add that on Expert + mode, not all songs will actually count as being Expert +, they have to have an icon next to it that looks like the achievement tile.

And yes, Wherever I May Roam is definitely the easiest one, but I've also read that Master of Puppets is also easy, but I haven't tried that one yet.

Nice. I went back to drums tonight after months of no kit and did this song fine. RB kit and a crappy pedal too. Cheers!

Orion looks pretty easy with 2 pedals, but there is that long blastbeat part at the very end. I couldn't kick through it with a single pedal...

Wherever I May Roam is very doable on Expert + with just 1 kickpedal. That is how I got this achievement.

I did this easy on Orion, the only part that has any double bass is the very end (for the most part). I just saved my star power, and activated it when I started going into the yellow. got it easy. Did this with the Rock Band 1 drum set/single pedal.

My method for completing this with a single pedal: Hell Bent For Leather with a friend. One person on drums, the other working the kick pedal. It's a short song and if you make it through the first 30 seconds, you should be fine.

I should add that I worked the kickpedal with my arms. Hurt like mad by the end of our 2nd go on the song (so we both got the points) but infinitely easier than trying to do it with the legs.

This seems like a daunting achievement to get. Anyways, it is very very possible, even for an average drummer. (Please note that I use a Rock Band drum kit).

The songs that I have confirmed can be beaten on Expert+ with a single kick pedal are: Master of Puppets, Welcome Home (Sanitarium) and Wherever I May Roam. Although I hear that you can beat it on Fuel. Whichever works for you. The important thing to reserve the star power for the really tricky double kick parts.

If you are still having problems with this achievement, you can use a microphone on beginner and put a fan up to it (thanks to Djpj 14 for that tip) and use that for starpower.

And my last tip for those Rock Band users :D A really cheap way to achieve the double kick awesomeness, you can get an AV splitter for just headphones, speakers, ect. The Rock Band kicks use the same "plug". I got mine for $5 and it works great.

I can barely play Hard on drums, but I got this achievement by playing Master of Puppets. If Fuel and Wherever I May Roam haven't worked for you then I suggest you try this method.

I suck on the drums, but I've got the achievement on Fuel Expert+ (one pedal and ghwt drums) with a lot of star power generated by a second controller with a mic on beginner, he save me on the double bass parts

P.S. Thanks to DjpJ 14 for his solution, he gave me the idea to use the mic star power

P.P.S. I used Fuel because with the ghwt drums it's easier than Wherever I May Roam

I tried all of the songs mentioned here on my own, but I am not good enough to make it through any of them. (I only just managed to complete the Rock Band drum career on Medium).

How I finally got this was to play Wherever I May Roam, solo, just me signed in. I played the toms etc, and my buddy played the bass pedal (with his hands). Not having to think about the bass pedal makes it so much easier. We got it first try with ease, then repeated with him signed in so he could get the cheevo.

Incidentally, we tried Master of Puppets first, but the crazy double bass part two thirds of the way through was still too hard, and we failed! Wherever I may roam is a much more consistent difficulty, somewhat harder all the way through, but no really crazy tough bits like Puppets. It shouldn't cause you any problems.

I'm not the best at drums to be honest can play a few songs decently on hard.I personally got this playing Orion,it has a fairly simple rhythm to it,if you can catch most of the star power sections keep a hold of it until the end of the song 95% onwards is where the double bass kicks in just go as long as you can until you feel the need to use star power and you'll beat it no problem.

Expert + is when you use two kick pedals instead of one, on expert on drums. Only some songs have the option of playing on Expert +. They will be indicated by a little trophy icon on them. You will have to have two kick pedals. You will have to purchase the second one as there is only one included with the game. Once you complete the song the trophy is yours.

You can either play "Wherever I May Roam" or "Master of Puppets" and get this done easily. Just save your star power for the double bass parts to make sure you don't fail (there's only one in Master of Puppets that's at the the end of the first solo).

"Wherever I May Roam" is probably the easiest song to do this on. There are three very short double bass sections at the very end of the song.
