Open Minded Strummer
You hit all Open Strum notes in the song Laid To Rest as the Bassist.
This must be done on the EXPERT difficulty. You do not need to upstrum the open notes, downstrum or upstrum will work as long as you strum them.
Well, there's a couple of ways to go about doing this achievement:
1) Get the song down. It's actually very fun on bass, and once you get the rhythm of the bass down, it's not as intimidating of a song as it would appear.
2) Go out of your way to make sure you hit every single open note by avoiding the other notes which have a tendency to either confuse you or screw you over by not allowing you to hit an open note with the button pressed in.
I went with the latter strategy, you basically need to play enough so that you don't fail and are able to get Star Power so you can quickly recover from a near-fail and get a full Rock Meter. There are also plenty of spots where you can build up your rock meter without having to worry about pesky combinations of open notes and regular notes.

can you get this in pro-face off like some of the other secret achieves?

Just got this achievement first try thanks to using the 2nd method. I was able to still hit other notes at times when my meter was low but would also take a break from time to time. Seemed to work a charm!

Note: It is not stated in the trophy description but you can only get this on Expert.
Open Strums are the purple lines that only appear when you are playing as Bass. You can play them by not holding any fret buttons and strumming.
Make sure you hit every open note in the song. I tried it by only focusing on the open notes but soon found out that this was a bad strategy. Then I tried to play the song like normally and I got 100% on it and the trophy. The song isn't that hard, you just have to get the feeling to the rhythm.
