How to unlock the War Apparatus achievement in Guitar Hero: Smash Hits - Definitive Guide

Play "Shout At The Devil", as it's the easiest of the Expert+ songs. Make sure to play in a band for this one. Have at least 2 other people, (not including yourself, obviously). They play the guitar and bass on whatever difficulty that they're best at. Put the vocals on BEGINNER, and the microphone on a fan. The vocals will earn you endless Star Power. Then make sure to activate Star Power throughout the WHOLE song, which should keep you from failing. You don't even need another drum pedal using this method.

You can even do it alone, just with the mic in front of a fan. I'm a terrible drummer and I got it this way.

Not really any guide to this one. You kind of have to be fairly decent on drums if you want this one. The easiest song however to do this on, is the song called "Shout at the Devil". It's not too bad throughout but once you get to the end it's just a bunch of purple lines (similar to a double bass beat). I know Best Buy has a deal that if you buy the game there you get a bonus pedal for free which can make it easier. I personally did it with my Rock Band 2 kit. So whatever you find to be easier. Good Luck!!

It's not similar to a double-bass beat, it IS a double bass beat ;)

I just wanted to add that this can be done in a band. I set the mic in front of a fan and put the vocals on beginner. That built up the band's star power which I needed for the closing double bass section. I usually play drums on hard and was able to get this achievement with The Beatles: Rock Band drum kit with a single bass pedal using both feet.

Agree with BAM2433. Beginner vocals collects easy star power to use when you are struggling on drums. I got this first time using the vocals trick.

For this achievement you need to play a song to completion under the following conditions:

- Playing on drums
- Career or Quickplay
- Expert+ difficulty selected (intended for players with two bass pedals)
- Pick a song with the Expert+ "skull and crossbones" icon by the name

You can choose any E+ song you feel comfortable playing - the easier ones will appear higher up the setlist in career mode. Shout at the Devil is generally considered the easiest.

If you don't have two pedals, Bark at the Moon only has short, sporadic double-bass sections and is otherwise fairly simple. You can get away with only hitting some of those really fast pedal notes without failing the song, as long as you're able to pick up the slack afterwards.

You can always use a friend to operate the bass pedal.
If you're not a very good drummer.
And Shout at the Devil is indeed one of the easiest.

Shout at the Devil

Play the song normally, then when it gets to the end with the double bass parts, pause the game, turn your pedal sideways, and use two feet. I stayed in the green (usually not getting higher than a X2 multiplyer though) and finished out the song like that.

I have created a way to use a computer to play drums perfectly and obtain this achievement. I have created a video tutorial for this method but I have included full text instructions as well.

Text instructions can be found here.

For this trophy you have to complete a song on Expert+ with drums. Expert+ means the song has fast kick notes requiring you to use two kick pedals to hit them so fast.

You do NOT have to have two kick pedals to get this trophy. You can do it with one. Make sure the song has a skull with bones next to it so you know it has an Expert+ track. The easiest way to get this is to complete the song 'Shout at the Devil' on Expert+. It only has double bass sections at the end of the song and they are pretty slow. If you have a fast foot, you can hit them all with one pedal. If not, you can play it like you would on Expert, hitting every other kick note and you should be able to complete the song without failing. If you are having trouble, save star power and activate it when the double bass section comes.

If you are a skilled drummer, you can also try Bark at the Moon. It is much harder to play compared to Shout at the Devil but it has almost no double bass sections, mostly just occasional triple kicks, making it easy to pass with only one pedal. (Thanks to grimydawg for the tip)
