How to unlock the Ace Astrologer achievement in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock - Definitive Guide

By far the easiest way of getting stars is to play through the quick songs by changing sort to duration. Play through the songs below 3mins 1st on the power challenge using CROWD HYPER+ and RESURECTION+ this guarentees you 15 stars at the end of the song if you are competent at the difficulty your playing. You do not need to worry about score as it makes no difference with those 2 powers. Then after go back and do the songs with guitar to gain the extra challenge stars. I gain about 30 stars per song this way.
After that its a waste of time to change instruments for only a few more stars just move onto the next section 3mins + and repeat.

Also... this means you can play on your normal difficulty instead of on easy... which is always a good thing right :)

Excellent guide. Gonna have to disagree with that comment though. Using SP Amp + SP Nova can net up to 19 stars on some songs. "Get Free" for instance. But, there's alot of songs that will only get you 10 using those skills. So using this guide is best in the long run, especially if your struggling on a song.

You can actually earn more than 42 stars per song.

There are 6 available from getting the song perfect.
36 from completing the different instrument or band challenges.
AND you can also get stars from competing in a POWER CHALLENGE.

So far the most I have managed to get from a power challenge is 12 extra stars.

The way to sellect a power challenge is, when in quickplay when you select a song, instead of choosing "play song" go to "star challenges". There you can see all the different instrument or band challenges. But the one at the very top is a power challenge.
If you have played through the story then you will know for each character you unlock a power. When playing a power challenge you get to select two of these powers to use while playing. If you've gone back through story after beating it the first time and DOMINATED all the chapters then your powers will be at level 2 and will help the not-so-good players get through some tougher songs.

But it is possible to get more than 42 stars for one song.
So far the max I have gotten for one song is 54. 6 for perfect, 36 on the challenges and 12 for the power challenge.

Also I find the best powers to accumulate stars are the one that gives you 5 ANKHS(whatever they are) because at level 2 that will add 5 extra stars to your count. And the star power amplifier, this at level 2 gives you full star power everytime you hit a star streak.

Have fun reaching for the stars(lame, i know)

EDIT: as commented by Dr. Worm Buffet, other combinations of power work better. He's been able to get 17-18 per song using the Star power Amplifier with the Star power generator. So try your own combos and see what works best for you.

Also I've found you can import songs from GH WT, Metallica, Smash Hits, GH 5, and Band Hero.
You need to have the 20 digit code from the back of the manual of the particular game you want to upload from. Go to the store from the main menu and select special offers at the bottom. Choose whatever game and enter the code. There is a price to unlock for export(of course), and you don't get all the songs from the game. The ones I've done so far are GH smash hits(export 26 songs for 240 MS points) & GH WT(export 31 or 32 for 280 MS points).

They all come with challenges available just like the normal songs from Warriors of Rock, adding more star opportunity.

Actually, using the star power amplifier with the star power multiplier is even better.
You get x24 during starpower. I get around 17-18 stars per song that way if I play it well.

Using the power that gives you starpower for every 10 note streak combined with star power multiplier could maybe give more but I have yet to try.

On an overall level I mean, instead of counting each song and adding them all up.

To clarify: Speed Freak gives its five stars *during* the song, then you get +5 stars for the ankhs at the end. Sorry about that. :-)

You should be getting a minimum of 15 stars per power challenge song. The speed freak, streak protector, crowd amplifier, and anhks will all get you 5 stars each if you can easily play the song. The other ones may get you a higher score, but that does not guarantee more stars. For example : I got 17 stars on "How Youd Remind Me" using speed freak and streak defender while FCing on medium guitar. I only got 12 stars for FCing the same song with the star amplifier and multiplier amlpifer, but double the score. You get an extra star for an FC on a power challenge too. By getting just the 15 stars on each song you only need to play at most 133 songs, which should be easy with all the free songs out there and the imports

If I can get 20 stars on a song, can I just play that song 100 times? Or are you not able to play the same song (or songs) over and over again to accumulate stars?

@The Ju1ce: Each song only contributes only once to the total, so repeat plays don't help (unless you get more stars in which case you add only the newly acquired ones).

Personally, I've gotten no less than 19 stars (on expert guitar) for the power challenges using nova and amplifier.

In terms of choice of powers, I think it really depends what level you're playing on. For Medium, Speed Freak and Resurrection basically give you a guaranteed 15 stars per song as long as you play it well (perfect will get you to 16, and depending how effectively you use star power you might even be able to sneak to 17). On the higher difficulties, Star Power Amplifier and Star Power Nova are more effective simply because there's more notes and you can keep a 24x multiplier going for close to the entire song sometimes.

BTW it looks like the challenges for all the imported songs and earlier DLC are the same (at least on guitar): one for score, one for streak, and one for score while star power is active. These are a bit easier than some of the challenges on some of the GHWOR tracks.

@TakeTheToast No cheats do not unlock any achievements. However, extras such as hyperspeed do.

I'm sure I'm one of the last ones to get this completed but to anyone who is still doing this and reading this, the power challenge caps off at 20 stars.

Some songs I did better with Star Power Amplifier/Star Power Multiplier to go for mega-score - 19 stars on Interstate Love Song! Others, I did better just taking Speed Freak and the ankhs one which gave minimal score bonuses but +10 stars at song's end (five for the ankhs, five for keeping streak). Really seemed to depend on how the star power placements and note densities were for a given track.

A Wise Ninja: if you load up your Rewards Tracker page, at the bottom of it, it should show your overall "QP+ stars received so far" progress.

The easiest way to get 2000+ stars without playing. Use your mic and fan playing beginer level to get 6 star in each song, and use turbo pad to tap A for you.
If you import all possible songs and download all free dlc, you have 350+ songs in your library. You can try random playlist infinite first. After a day, you can edit a playlist with songs those didn't be played yet.

Oh yeah, and you can use the vocals for the power challenge to get 17 more per song for those with talky parts.

I'm doing this right now and it's working great. One thing you may want to add is that any song with 1 bar for vocals difficult is all talky parts. So I suggest putting those songs in a playlist on expert so you also pick up the vocals challenges for a few extra stars. Songs like Grave of Opportunity (free DLC), On Broken Glass (free DLC), No Sleep til Brooklyn (GHWT import) and a couple of the GH:WOR songs all have talky parts. Maybe we can come up with a complete list and add it to your solution. Should net 12 stars for those songs rather than the standard 6 and save at least another hour.

You have to set difficulty to BEGINNER level, not easy.

Hi, PrimeBigTime, this key point of this method is you can get stars without actually playing. Just as you say, if you spend time playing, you can play Power Challenge to get 15~20 stars each song, that will be much faster, but you have to sitting in front of TV.

Here's how this goes: You need 2000 stars in quickplay plus, which is fairly easy to do with a few days grinding. However you can't just mash on the same song over and over again until you get it, it requires you to be a little more tactful than that.

Each song, WITH THE EXCEPTION OF SONGS MISSING PARTS, has 6 non-challenge stars (5 for score, 1 for 100% without breaking combo), and 36 challenge stars. The amount of challenge stars is generally different on songs missing instruments. There are also power challenges, which you can mess around with to get different optimal combinations for both stars and score. Both of these are also true for downloadable content and imports.

Each challenge has a total of 3 stars, and the most common challenge setup from what I have witnessed is 3 challenges on guitar, 2 challenges on bass, 2 challenges on drums, 2 challenges on vocals, and 3 band challenges. This number is consistent for downloadable content, however fluctuates for disc songs. As a key example, Black Widow of La Porte (On-disc) has 36 challenge stars despite having no Vocals part, and yet YYZ (GHSH import) only has 30 with the same impairment.

It should be noted that power challenges are generally better at star farming from my experiences. Generally when going for a high score on these, the combination of Star Power Amplifier and Star Power Nova would be reccomended, however for sheer star farming I would suggest Speed Freak and Streak Guardian. If anyone has any better suggestions regarding power challenge setups, feel free to comment with them.

I unlocked the first 8 warriors in the game and upgraded them which you will want to do as it will net you more stars per song. You can get 16 and even up to 20 stars per song in the power challenge if you pick the right two powers. Some say right on them that they will net you an extra 5 stars each. I picked 2 of them for my powers, so thats 16 stars if you get a perfect, even on easy. Also try the 4X star power and 6X star power multiplier, I was getting 13-20 stars with that combo on songs under 3 mins long. I was playing on easy and was getting 100% on the songs and getting 16,17 stars and even up to 20 at time. Also switch your quickplay list to time/length of song so the shortest songs are at the top of the list. I played every song I had under 3 minutes twice and got this achiev. Play it once with just the guitar and get anywhere from aprox 5-12. Then play the power challenge to get 16-20 more.

This is one of those achievements where it is going to take a long time, plain and simple. But I do have a few tips based on my experience of going through it that I think would help:

1. If you have the option, import songs from the other games (GH5, BH, GH:WT) as it makes your song list way longer. This will also help you get the Anthemic Archivist achievement.

2. Once you have imported those extra songs, get out your fan/mic combo. This will get you through a good majority of your stars. For example, with GH5 and BH imported, my songlist was at about 250 songs, which using the fan/mic combo on beginner gave me a total of about 1500 stars. The nice thing about this is that it may take a long amount of time, but you can do other things while the songs are playing like work, cleaning, etc.

3. After the fan method, I would suggest pulling out your guitar and then sorting by guitar intensity. Therefore the songs are super easy. If you complete all challenges for guitar per song, that adds another 9 stars per song.

4. Along with completing the guitar challenges, also go for the power challenges on all the easier guitar songs. When you do, select Star Power Amplifier and Star Power Nova for your 2 powers. (This way you can essentially have star power throughout the whole song and it bumps up your star power multiplier to x24). Using this method I was averaging between 11 and 18 additional stars per song.

Hope this helps and good luck grinding!

I believe the most efficient way to get this done is actually using Amplifier+ and Nova+ and putting the difficulty on easy(if you are an expert player you can turn hyperspeed to 5 which matches pretty closely to expert speed). The top guide here recommends Crowd Hyper and Resurrector which is a good way to be consistent but the max per song you'll get there is 16. With the powers I said you will still get those 15-16 star songs but some will be able to get higher. Max I've gotten so far was 21 stars on one of the 2112 parts. As far as songs, sort by duration and just go through on one string instrument, then swap to the other.

One last tip if you don't want to play the game you can do the fan trick(put mic in front of constant noise like a fan) put the difficulty on beginner for vocals and choose random songs > infinite from the song selection menu. Ideally you have a controller with a turbo button for this method but you will get 6 stars per song here(can not use powers on beginner in QP+)

In Quickplay+, you can actually earn over 5000 stars. Each song has 13 challenges (1 power challenge and 12 instrument challenges). If you play a song without missing a note, you will earn 6 stars on it. You can earn 15 stars on the power challenge and up to 3 stars on each of the 12 other challenges. Just keep playing different songs, and this trophy will unlock in no time.

On the road to earning this trophy, you will also earn;

Guitar Hero: Warriors of RockAmateur AstrologerThe Amateur Astrologer trophy in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock worth 20 pointsEarn a total of 100 Stars (Quickplay+)

Guitar Hero: Warriors of RockAccomplished AstrologerThe Accomplished Astrologer trophy in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock worth 32 pointsEarn a total of 500 Stars (Quickplay+)

Guitar Hero: Warriors of RockAdept AstrologerThe Adept Astrologer trophy in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock worth 82 pointsEarn a total of 1000 Stars (Quickplay+)

Every Song has over 50 stars that can be earned, if you have the instruments to earn them all. The fastest, most effective way to get to 2000 stars, is to play a power challenge on the shortest songs, and then play the regular method of the same song and shoot for the challenges associated to your instrument of choice. If your playing on guitar, you can swap to bass for extra songs, and a FC will net you one bonus star on both power challenge and regular method. Keep moving through the playlist and you'll be surprised how quickly you build up to 2000 stars.

for one song you can get up to 42 stars, there are 110 songs, so you can ideally earn an unrealistic 4620 stars.

First, complete the quest completely and get the powers of all the characters.

Then start playing Quickplay+ and earn stars in Power Challenge, I advise you to use a combination of Echo + Pandora characters, you can get 17-20 stars at once. Plus Challenges, you only need to play one per song, I played bass. Well, plus 6 stars for the passage of the song itself. In total, the song will get about 25-30 stars. Even this way, you won’t have to go through all the songs.
