Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock

This can be done on any song but this is how I did it as it was easy and quick in my opinion.

I used my secondary/dummy account which is XBL Silver, and on my friends list to get the lowest award (gold I think) of 'hitting yellow notes' on hard bass on Linkin Park's Bleed it out, then signed back in on my live account and chose the challenge, then TARGET PLAY against the score I'd already set.

To get the achievement you must play on the SAME difficulty as you set the previous score AND get the next award or better.(plat or diamond).

EDIT : (Credit to Makker) It would appear that if a friend has set a score on a difficulty ie Gold and scored say 10,000 points and you beat this ie 10,001 or more it will unlock if you don't make it to the next award as well,

I got this today using offline method:
i signed in my main account plus a dummy account i went into quickplay+ with the dummy account ( player 2 ) and done guitar medium and went to song blue oyster club burnin for you.
i went into challenges and selected streak as the challenge so the little dial shows I played perfect till i got gold then lost the streak and finished song.
i went back to main screen and selected quickplay + with my main account then selected Guitar medium and with the dummy i selected Vocals easy ( using headset mic ) then with main account as Leader i went to Blue oyster club Burnin for you and challenges.
Player 2's ( the dummy accounts ) streak was there.
I selected it to challenge. Put the headset on for player 2 as you only need to hum a few lyrics to stop them failing you out and use star power on guitar to help.
If you play the song FC you will easily beat the gold medal and the achievement should pop on the score / stars screen.

The reason i did this as some of you may have found is if you set the score with the dummy back out and go back with your main account it will show the score / streak etc as YOURS and if you back out and go back with player 2 you will find its there Score / streak again.
Keeping them with you in a (band) seems to get the game to remember its there score / streak.
Also i selected vocals easy as you cant do challenges on beginner and this is an easy song just to go aahhhhhhhh on and hit a few of the words to stop them dropping out.
If you already have scores etc for that song just select a different storage location for the save as your only going for the achievement your not really going to lose any stars as such for just one song.

I got this for my mate a couple of days after i did.
When i did it for him i took my account with me so it was me and will call him Joe. I signed in and set the streak on guitar and backed out he then went into quickplay+ lobby selected guitar med and i choose vocals. When he went in as leader to the song it said it was his streak so we backed out to lobby, He granted me leadership (Players - Blue Fret - X button ) and i went in and it said it was mine. Backed out again and gave leadership back to Joe wen he went back it said Streak was set by Player 1 no name just Player 1 so we did the challenge and when it ended it popped for him. So you may have to backout a few times.

-If you have no friends who play the game
?do a crappy job, but aim to get as close, without going over(the closer your get the easier the next step will be), the score for platinum.
? go to star challenges, high score, hit blue TWICE, press green, scroll up to someone who has the star above you (CLOSER YOU GET THE EASIER THIS IS, SCROLLING TAKES FOREVER) and hit green when their name is highlighted.

I played Burnin' for you - blue oyster cult on expert guitar.

Just wanted to add how I did this easily:

Selected the song Graduate from Third Eye Blind. Go to the STAR CHALLENGES, selected HIGH SCORE, then hit the blue button for overall leaderboard. Scrolled down to someone who just had enough points for a GOLD (132,800) on it. The player i selected had like ~134k on the song. (it took forever to scroll down to them).

Completing the song, I got the diamond challenge for the score (~210k was my final) and soon as the song finished the achievement popped. I don't know if you simply have to get the next highest up rank (platinum) or fully complete it (diamond). Also, I did this on expert, and so did the other player.

This isn't much of a solution. It's the discovery of a problem. Since the leaderboards were attached to the server and the servers have been shutdown. This means there are no more leaderboards meaning this achievement is impossible to get.

If you know how to get as of Nov 2012 then please correct me.
If someone gets this achievement please email me at knightblade@live.com so i can achieve it.

As of now it's UNOBTAINABLE

I saw some similar solutions to this so I apologize if it's not entirely different. The leaderboards seem so be a little finicky in this game and I'm not able to see any of my friends' scores even though I know they have played the game. Here's how I earned the achievement:

- sign in with a dummy account (Silver/Free account is fine) and make a gamesave on the hard drive. You should be connected to Xbox Live for this.

- Go to Quickplay+ and pick a song and difficulty. I selected Get Free by the Vines since it's very short. Make sure to select the song and then go to Star Challenges so you know what the minimum is to get gold.

- Go to the 2nd star challenge on the list, High Score (single). Hit Start Target Play! and score just enough to get the gold challenge medal.

- After you are done with the song back out to the main menu, sign out of your dummy account and then sign into your main account. I opted to NOT select a storage device when prompted by pressing the back button.

- Once the storage device menu closes you are still at the main menu. Select Quickplay+ and then pick your character and the same difficulty as your dummy account played "Get Free" with.

- Go to star challenges and then you can change the sorting by pressing the blue button and now you should see ALL of your friends' scores including the one you just posted with your silver account. Select Green to to to the challenges, select High Score (single) and then scroll down to the lowly gold score you just got with your dummy and hit Start Target Play. According to other guides just beating the score should unlock the achievement but I did my best to get at least a platinum medal just to be sure. The achievement popped at the end of the song in the stats.

Good luck. Your mileage may vary since the servers/leaderboards seem kind of wonky.

STILL OBTAINABLE


At this current moment, all guides for this achievement are incorrect and will not
work. I tried for a couple of weeks back in late-2020 and could not get this sucker to pop. Thankfully, someone of our community wrote a solution for us all to see. However, the solution is not entirely correct. There's a couple notes I have to make for you, to make it work.

Firstly, because the online leaderboards are gone, you cannot achieve this connected to the internet.

To quote Markos 88:
There was an error I was getting, more of just a general message, that you cannot record a score for a specific instrument challenge because you're a part of a band. THIS IS WRONG.

Go ahead with the song, and make sure you obtain a Gold medal in the certain instrument challenge. This achievement calls for beating and also getting a higher medal than the opponent's score.

When you end the song, beating the opponent's score and medal, the achievement will immediately pop.

Congratulations.
