How to unlock the Gem Hoarder achievement in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock - Definitive Guide

If you don't have this after completing both run of the quest, you need to play some songs in quest mode.

The quickest way is probably to play "Fury Of The Storm" in the very last quest on expert bass. That should bag you about 2,800 gems per run.

If you find the strumming too fast on the Dragonforce song, you could do “Hard To See” under Lars' quest on expert bass. It will give you about 12-1300 gems per run.

Good luck.

According to my Rock Record, I've hit 150, 776 notes with no achievement- is there anything else I need to do or is it glitched?

Yeah mine has been stuck too, along with everybody else's apparently. Although it has been confirmed that even though the notes aren't showing up in your total, they are actually being counted and you can still get the achievement

The notes was added to my total when I did it. Did a title update come out recently? Could be that Neversoft only want to keep your Quickplay stats on your Rock Records? Can anyone confirm that you get the achievement, even if the note counter in "My Rock Record" doesn't go up in Quest Mode?

Does anyone know if turning on cheats like "all hopos" while grinding this cheeve out will mess with it unlocking?

I can confirm that even though your note counter stats do not increase (cause mine are stuck at 62,659) that it still counts and will unlock the achievement normally. But also take note that the Note Counter also counts the notes from QP+ as well as Quest together. So while it may say you've hit 80,000 notes, but have yet to unlock the 75,000 note achievement, you might only be at 50,000 or so depending on how many QP+ songs you've played.

And for those of you who can't play expert Fury of the Storm on Easy will net you 1091 notes and on Medium will net you 1362 notes and Black Widow of La Porte can net you 1373 notes on Easy and 1845 notes on Medium.

Just a side note - if you have multiple quest progressions going (Yes you can actually load different quest progressions), then the notes you hit in each progression count together for the total. I switch between two quest progressions based on if im playing Guitar or Drums, and this achievement popped for me after i had beat both quests but only dominated a chapter on drums and two on guitar, so too few if they were separate, but just about the right spot (two full completions of the game plus 15-20 songs) for it to pop if they were counting together.

The Rock Record wasn't going up previously due to some server-side issues that Activision was having, i believe (also leaderboards werent updating too well during this time). I think its fixed (for now) as mine has started behaving properly.

so if you use more than one instrument within the same quest it is cumulative for all instruments (i.e. played some chapters on drums and some on guitar)?

I think the best 5 tunes are (on bass) - Jet City Woman, Hard To See, Bat Country, Rockin the free World, Fury of the storm.
Those 5 are really quite simple, and will net you 1200+ (2700+ for Fury) per song, you can nail it down in a matter of a few 5 song sessions.

if you were to play through quest mode on expert guitar, playing every song exactly once, hitting 100% of the notes each time you would hit a total of 103,254 (through all 93 songs). If you hit only 94% of notes that is still over 97,000 notes on your first play through.

Ok so I've only played about 2-3 quickplay songs, and done quest on beginner, easy, and medium. And have around or over 200k notes hit, so why hasnt it unlocked =[

Good solution...I average over 2800 on Bass for this song (although my arm wears out)

If you're grinding this achievement out with FOTS, dropping back to Hard bass every other run-thru will still give you about 2,100 notes and slightly helps with your impending case of carpal tunnel syndrome. Much more managable alt-strumming throughout the whole song.

Switching between Black Widow of La Porte (XBass - 1899 notes), Bat Country (XBass - 1304 notes), Fury of the Storm (HBass - 2239 notes), and Uprising (XBass - 1291 notes) is pretty effective without being incredibly taxing on your strumming hand.

Update: The servers appear to be truly offline now, so you may not be able to view your current progression. cry

It's under "My Rock Record" on the first menu, the servers are a little wonky, so you may need to check again if it fails the first time.

The best way to do this without effort is to put a turbo controller with A button held down on Deadfall by Snot under the final venue in quest mode. This is a very fast vocal song that you can do on beginner vocals and use the fan trick. I both achievements without ever even using a guitar in quest mode.

IMPORTANT!- Back up your save on a usb stick before you start. Do this by going to options and saving your game, then pick usb stick as your destination. Once saved, remove the stick and go for it. This game has been known to corrupt saves from time to time if playing alot of songs in a row.

Just before attempting this go into options and hit load game, then hit the B button to cancel. Hit continue without saving. This will make it so it does not save after every song and doesn't give the game a chance to glitch. When you wake up in the morning just go back to the same menu and save to keep your progress.

OK I looked at my score after I played it once. 100% on beginner will net you 520 notes. Good find. thx

It felt like it took 7 years (my impatience showing here), but this method absolutely worked. Thanks!

Thanks; this worked a charm. About 4 hours of this was all I needed (although with the online servers now shutdown, I had no idea how close I was.)

For others: It appears that a 100% streak with vocals on medium gives you a 52 note streak. The song is about 2:40 long, which will give you about 1170 notes per hour on this method

If you can't play good on Expert difficulty with the songs that have over 1,000+ notes in them... You can play Fortunate Son on Hard/Expert Bass. The Song is only 2 mins 30 seconds long, and has approx 597 on hard and 629 notes on expert.

The song is super easy. Even if you can't play much on Hard difficulty... this song is Cake.

The vocals trick listed above works wonders too. If you have a turbo controller, just turbo the A button and you are set.

Another good song that is easy and has a lot of notes is the very last song in the game, 'Sudden Death' on Hard/Expert Bass. It's not very hard, just small groups of moderately fast strumming, and has a little over 1600 notes.

I've attached a video of someone playing it in QP+ mode with Hyperspeed on, but it should give you an idea of how hard it is.

You should earn this trophy while focusing on Perfect Perfectionist. If you don’t earn this, you can play any songs you want until you hit 150,000 notes.

You will not get this trophy in one playthrough of the story mode. Even in dominate quest, it is highly unlikely that you will strike 150k notes. If this is the case for you, then "Fury of the Storm" by Dragonforce on Expert Bass will net you a 2 - 3k notes per run.

If you play with a friend, only your notes count.

I received the trophy after “leveling up” all the characters, and I was playing with someone online, and I was not the host.
