How to unlock the Ultimate Answerer achievement in Guitar Hero: Warriors of Rock - Definitive Guide

This achievement needs to be done in "Quickplay+" and is obtained by earning all 42 stars on a single song. This means you will have to do the following:

1. FC (100% without overstrums) the song on any instrument and any difficulty for 6 stars.
2.Complete all guitar challenges. There are normally 3 and you will need diamond on every one to acquire 9 more stars.
3.Complete all drum challenges. Normally 2 worth 6 stars and you will, again need to get diamond on them all.
4.Complete all vocals challenges. Normally 2 worth 6 stars. Need diamond on both for maximum stars.
5.Complete all bass challenges. Normally 2 worth 6 stars. Need diamond on them both.
6.Finally, you need to complete all the band challenges for the remaining 9 stars. Some must be done as a standard band and others can be done with any instrument combination. Need diamond on all challenges.
7.You don't need to do this, but there is also a power challenge where you can use 2 powers. THE STARS FROM THIS DO NOT COUNT!
These challenges are not the same on every song. Some with talky vocal parts have 1 less vocals challenge and an extra band challenge instead.

For anyone wondering if songs without vocals or drums etc work (some only have 36 stars for example), I will also add that it did unlock for me on Black Widow and 2112 Part 3, however, after telling friends it worked they didn't manage to unlock it this way so (unless you want to risk it not unlocking after the work involved), do a song with 42 stars available.

Most of these challenges can only really be done on hard or expert, but for streak challenges or multiplier ones, a lower difficulty is probably recommended.

1 thing you need to do before attempting any challenges is to decide what instrument you are least comfortable on. I, for example am good on guitar, bass and vocals, but fail on drums, therefore i found a song with easy drums (I personally found "Again" easy). Just try and find a song with an easy part for the instrument you can't do very well.

If the instrument you can't do is vocals and you have the World Tour import then "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" is apparently very easy for vocals (and the other instruments) and can then be used as an extra member for the band challenges with the use of a fan or speakers (Many thanks to "Immortal Soull" for that easy song). If you struggle with that then try either, "Bleed it Out" (thanks "xBrushedRedx) or "For Whom The Bell Tolls" if you have the Metallica import (thanks "INTIMIDATOR363").
It would appear that most people are hopeless on vocals so hopefully "Unfcnbleevibl's" easy vocals song list will be of use. Thank him for these:
Mastodon - Blood and Thunder (Metallica Import)
Children of Bodom - Done with Everything, Die for Nothing (GH5 Import)
Children of Bodom - If You Want Peace...Prepare for War (GHWoR)
Beastie Boys - Gratitude (GH5 Import)
Beastie Boys - No Sleep Till Brooklyn (GHWT Import)
Unearth - Grave of Opportunity (Free DLC, Ferret/Metal Blade Track Pack)
Chimaira - On Broken Glass (Free DLC, Ferret/Metal Blade Track Pack)
Arch Enemy - Nemesis (GHWoR)
Rush - 2112 Pt 7. The Grand Finale (GHWoR)
Dethklok - Bloodlines (GHWoR)
Public Enemy featuring Zakk Wylde - Bring the Noise 20xx (GH5 import)
Some of these are definetly tough on guitar and drums etc, but if you are struggling a lot with vocals, then these are definetly worth a try...

The only challenges you can do online are the standard and non-standard band challenges and you need at least 2 instruments active. (That is unless you are playing say guitar online and you complete all challenges for that part, however no-one else will receive any credit for a challenge you completed, therefore all "instrument" challenges MUST be done by yourself)

I think that about covers it, although if i have made any mistakes or you have any further questions then please leave a comment below. I also intend on putting a load of easy songs for each individual instrument when I have time, but in the mean time let me know which instruments you can/can NOT do and I will try and recommend a song if you are still struggling to find one ...

As a medium guitar/drums player I was able to obtain this solo on the song Bring the noise from Guitar Hero 5. I was not able to get the drums challenges on Gratitude and failed to get the guitar ones on No sleep till Brooklyn so it was a relief to see that Bring the noise worked ! Drums are the hardest but i managed to get 99% and it did the trick (I missed 6 notes, there is room for up to 10 misses or so). Guitar was quite easy and did not require a FC to get diamond for score (I think I missed some taps at the first solo and got 99%). Bass and band challenges were very easy with guitar and one or two micros. Anyway, this achievement is doable even if you're a mediocre GH player :)

Just wanted to mention for those who are bad on vocals (like myself), while the other challenges may be harder because of the song, these songs are all the songs you don't actually have to sing, but instead you can put it on Expert and use the fan trick:

Mastodon - Blood and Thunder (Metallica Import)
Children of Bodom - Done with Everything, Die for Nothing (GH5 Import)
Children of Bodom - If You Want Peace...Prepare for War (GHWoR)
Beastie Boys - Gratitude (GH5 Import)
Beastie Boys - No Sleep Till Brooklyn (GHWT Import)
Unearth - Grave of Opportunity (Free DLC, Ferret/Metal Blade Track Pack)
Chimaira - On Broken Glass (Free DLC, Ferret/Metal Blade Track Pack)
Arch Enemy - Nemesis (GHWoR)
Rush - 2112 Pt 7. The Grand Finale (GHWoR)
Dethklok - Bloodlines (GHWoR)

My drum kit just broke...are there any songs with laughably easy drums (like Silver, a RB DLC song that has like 5 notes on drums), or no drums at all?

^^^ Someone who commented previously asked about as to whether instrumentals worked or not. The answer is yes. I did "Black Widow of La Porte" on a back-up profile and it unlocked, although this is by no means easy on drums (no vocals though). I haven't played drums too much so I am unfamiliar with easy songs for drums, but I personally found again easy. It just alternates from pad to bass pedal through the hole song so maybe try that...

For those without imported songs, "Bleed It Out" is incredibly easy. That's what I did it on. Unbelievably easy guitar, drums, and bass. It's mostly talky; only a few parts you actually have to sing. Shouldn't take more than a try or two on vocals. The band challenges are extremely easy as well.

Hey great Guide but add For Whom The Bell Tolls as another song thats easy. No solo in that song, Bass isnt really hard, Drums are quite easy to do for the majority of the song, and Im terrible at vocals and managed to score 5 stars on expert at them :) The whole song is pretty much at the same pitch too

I'm curious if Monkey Gone To Heaven would work for this. All of the difficulties are under two bars, with vocals being a 1 difficulty.

Again, sorry for triple posting, (there seems to be no edit function in the solution comments) but I've tried out Monkey Gone to Heaven today, but unfortunately, the chorus requires you to sing at a pitch, which I am horrible at doing in GH for some reason, even though I'm pretty good at singing in RB3. The drums are pretty easy, although it may take some work if you're new to drums like I am.

I don't believe I have that song. If you don't struggle with guitar or bass you should try one of the easy vocals songs. Things like "Nemesis" are easy for vocals (all talkies), but are just hard on guitar, bass and drums. If you can't do that then maybe try "No Sleep Till Brooklyn" from the World Tour import since that is probably 10 times easier... Try and get a friend to hit the bass pedal for you. Good luck :-)

^That's weird... maybe try just playing the song again and seeing if it pops. If not, if you found it a manageable song for you, deleting your save and doing all the challenges again may be your only option.

@Juicyjams

Thanks! It worked on the first try. All the other challenges on "Bleed It Out" are incredibly easy too. It doesn't have any instruments above 3 bars of intensity. I don't know why so many people pick more difficult songs.

This link is live and helped me get this achievement after countless tries. I'm a horrible singer and by now, when the servers is down and you can't download or import any songs anymore, this is the definitive way of getting a 6 star expert rating of the song on vocals!

Sorry for double posting, but what I mean to ask is whether the drums and vocals sections are easy. I can't sing at a controlled pitch in this game to save my life due to the pitch indicator that seems to never go on the pitch bar, but instead skips right over it. Also, I'm pretty good at guitar and bass, so I don't need to worry about that.

May I also add that "Bleed it out" by Linkin Park is possibly one of the easiest songs. Easily fc'able on guitar and bass, song is mostly talky parts on vocals, and the drums are relatively easy.

i was just going to say the same thing. why was this solution down-voted? all challenges are easily attained on hard or expert, and each instrument is extremely mild on either of these difficulties. i'm not a great guitarist, & even less of a drummer, and i fc'ed both of these instruments on hard while fc'ing bass & vox on expert. this cheev is very easily attained with this song.

I wonder why there are so many negatives to this one. This is the way I did it. I thought it was fairly easy. Vocals were a little tough, but no problem with the rest of it.

Yeah, good choice for solo play. The drum streak is the only particularly tricky bit about this and that's not hard.

Even the vox that isn't talky is easy - you only have to master two or three different phrases.

I found three mics and guitar were required to get the 1800 notes hit achievement; scored more with the bass, but was a few notes short even with an FC. For the standard band achievement, one mic and guitar on Expert scored the 580k points with plenty of time to spare without FC on either.

I also used this song. Managed to get somebody to help me with the "hit as many notes as a band" platinum medal and in the end the set up was: 2 expert guitarists, 1 hard guitarist and 1 expert bass all got over 98%.

Maybe 100% on hard or a good starpower path and 96% might bag you it, I'm not exactly sure.

There is an incredibly easy way to get this achievement by yourself, but to do it you need the following:

-GH:World Tour Import (No Sleep Till Brooklyn is the song of choice)
-Two mic's (Headset or USB), 1 Guitar and 1 drum set (either RB or GH)
Now, the first step is to set the mics up so they can play the song by themselves, for those unfamilar with the trick commonly used in GH:WT, because the song is all 'talkie' sections, the song can be FC'd on any difficulty by placing the mic near any constant noise making object (e.g. A fan or even the back of your xbox)

Once these mics are set up, start the song as a 3 player band in quickplay+, playing the song with this set-up leads to the completion of two challenges:

-Maintain a 5x Band Multiplier for 54.00 seconds.
-Achieve a certain score (531,000, but this is easily achieved)

The most difficult challenge is the 5x multiplier, but all you need to do is gain star power on your instrument of choice and wait for the mic's to earn some, then pause the game during one of the frequent large pauses in guitar/drum play, resume play on your controller, quickly activate star power on both microphones before swapping attention back to your own instrument, if done correctly you should now be on the 5x multiplier, you may also attempt it during one of the 2 band moments during the song to gain a 7x multiplier but this is slightly more risky on drums.

With the non standard band challenges out of the way, back out to the quickplay+ lobby and remove one of the mics, go back and start up NSTB again, the only band based challenge remaining it to score 530,000 points, and easy feat so long as you conserve star power for the band moments and for the 'more active' ending of the song.

Now the band challenges are out of the way, you can focus on playing the song on each individual instrument, you can simply use the fan trick to complete both vocal challenges, bass should pose little threat to both seasoned players and fairly new players, drums will require you to be on expert, but anyone comfortable on medium should be more than fine with this song on expert. Guitar is definitely the most difficult for the majority of people, but to qualm any fears, the song only rates a 4 out of 10 on the in game difficulty meter, you may have some trouble with the final stars on the score and star power challenges, my only advice for both is to practice the solo, activating star power in the solo is a HUGE boost to both the challenges.

If you need additional help I have added a brief idea of how you should be utilising star power.

Drums, are the easiest to use star power effectively, but might be the hardest to gain depending on your skill, given the repetitive nature of the chart you can pretty much activate it whenever is easiest for you. but i'd recommend doing it on a Yellow or Red/ Kick note combo, as it will be easier to activate without interrupting the rhythm.

Vocals you should use right at the end of a phrase, because you'll still get max points and you have a better chance of scoring more phrases with it;

Guitar can vary, the only real time i can recommend using it is during the solo, other then that it's your discretion really, if it helps play through the song once beforehand and notice where the three-note chords get paticularly frequent.

Bass is hard to explain, here is the path I used- http://bit.ly/burhkF (if you don't use paths or don't understand just PM me)

And that's pretty much it, if anyone has any suggestions for improvement, anything I can add let me know in the comments =]

Ok, I'm not the best on guitar but Getting the score and star power challenges on Expert are by no means easy. Is there something I'm missing here?

By MajorBeetus on 12 Oct 2010 23:09
Well by easy I meant in comparison to expert challenges on other songs so no, you aren't missing anything, Im almost certain you could probably achieve both of them on hard with a little bit of persistence, in fact, I'll check it out and get back to you.

Ok I've checked and all challenges are POSSIBLE on hard, but only with an FC and great star power, so expert is your best bet.

For the score challenge, I'd practise the solo because if you can use star power effectively in that you're home free, it also gives a massive boost to the star power challenge, if you can give me some more specifics as to how you are stuck i might be able to offer more advice.

Yeah, as I said above, if you practice the solo, and can keep a 4x while using it in the solo you'll get a major boost, but it also tehnically possible on hard, just has minimal room for error, so if expert continues to be too hard give hard a go.

I currently have 40/42 stars on this song, the only stars I need are for guitar (final star power & high score). Can't seem to do it no matter how many times I try. Is it possible to get both of these stars on hard? Also I prefer playing songs on hyper speed 3, is the solo easier at normal speed?

Any advice to help me get the last two stars I need will be great, thanks.

By x InSoMniA o on 06 Nov 2010 12:17
Honestly for the score you're better off trying on expert, whilst both are mathmatically possible on hard, it requires some hardcore whammying and an FC, compared to the relative ease on expert, if you definitely have to do hard, I can only offer the following advice...whammy. There were 2 or 3 occasions where whammying got me the extra star power needed for an activation, which only just got me over the threshold for both, so by all means try on hard and take my advice. But if the stars are still out of reach, let me know and I'll come up with some sort of star power path to make it as easy as I can for people in a similar situation.

There are a good solutions there! But if you don't have drums (like me) there are a few songs that haven't got a drum part.

One of them is Rush - 2112 part 3 Discovery. I did it on this song. There are only Vocals and Guitar. It won't be very easy, because you need to be pretty good on expert guitar to earn Single score Diamond
Plus you'll have to learn how to sing this song on Expert to beat Single score Vocal challenge (it took me some time)
Starpower score Vocal challenge can be done on Hard
Phrases streak chalenge can be done on Easy (but actually if you beat score challenge you will most likely earn streak as well on Expert)

Band Challenges are not very hard. But Band multiplier x5 can be tough with random people. I did it with two friends and had to play guitar and sing because we couldn't do it with 3 people. It's easier on lower difficulties because at least 3 people need to maintain 4x multiplier, and 2 players must turn Starpower to get a 5x Band multiplier.

The other song with just Guitar and Vocals is Rolling Stones - You gotta move
I don't know much about this song because I don't own it :/

I hope this will help people who don't have drums and still want this achievement. If you discover some more songs suitable here or if you want something changed leave it in a comment.

Here is a link to a video for expert vocals for bleed it out.If your like me and still couldn't sing this song. I got 99% using this. The way I did it was with the microphone from the game, I put it up to the speaker of my computer with a pillow over it so it wouldn't pick up any other noises. Getting the timing right may take a try or two pending on your settings as I'm sure they vary by tv. Good luck and enjoy everyone.

First off this is my first solution,but anyways I found the easiest way to earn this achievement is to play Gratitude by The Beastie Boys which is from the GH5 import.

Here is what i did:

I used expert drums and did the mic fan trick to do the vocals on expert(the whole song are talky parts)to get the standard high score.I scored around 450,000 some.(minimum is 325,000)
Also i tried bass and guitar on this,but i scored way higher with drums.

I used expert drums and 2 mics and a headset(all on expert) to get the non standard high score and as well as the multiplier time.With this combo i got well over 1.3mil for the non standard high score and 39.29 seconds for keeping the band multiplier at x5 or higher.(33.00 seconds is the minimum,and for the duplicate instruments is 329,000)

If your not good at drums give guitar or bass a try on this.

Guitar and bass challenges are easy, you shouldn't have any trouble with them.

Vocal challenges just do the mic fan trick for the challenges and a easy FC.

Drum Challenges are easy if your good at drums.

Well I guess that about does it, if you have any questions don't hesitate to message me.

Good Luck!!!

This is a solution using the song:
Bleed it Out by Linkin Park
To suppliment the other solutions that recommend this song, I also highly recommend it.
This song is very easy to play on Hard/Expert for all instruments.
I have noted the difficulties I got the stars on.

Challenge Stars:
You must get Platinum to get all the stars.
Instruments are based on individual's score, cannot be achieved in Band play.

Guitar:
Highscore = 212,200 (Expert)
Chords Hit = 468 chords (Expert)
Streak = 450 notes (Expert)

Bass:
Highscore = 81,300 (Expert)
Highscore while star power active = 36,600 (Expert)

Drums:
Highscore = 85,000 (Hard)
Streak = 350 notes (Hard)

Vocal:
Highscore = 83,200 (Expert)
Spoken Notes = 234 notes (Expert)

Band:
Highscore (Standard Band) = 580,000 (Mixed difficulties)
Highscore (Non-Standard Band) = 615,000 (Mixed results but 3 Guitars on Expert works)
Notes Hit = 1,890 notes (3 Band members on Expert Guitar. Expert guitar has 680ish notes, so for 3 people this was the minimum diff/instruments needed)

One way to check if you have reached a target, when viewing the challenges in Quickplay, if someone on your friend's list has achieved a score high enough, you can make them the target, there will be a meter on the screen and if you beat them you know you have gotten the required score.

This is a total of 36 Stars, 3 per challenge.
The song itself can be maxed out at 6 stars this is achieved by getting 100% on a song, you will likely get this going for the challenge stars.

There we are 42 stars and the song is complete.

Adding to everything that has been said:

from GH News, "playing on beginner invalidates challenges". So you can't use the fan mic trick on a non-talkie song, since the challenges you pass don't get saved.

EXCEPT....

Say the only challenge you need is a band challenge: you can use a beginner vocalist to boost your score/band streak, and it counts! Remember, only if it's the last stars you need: they wont get saved (who cares), but the achievement will pop! I didn't know beginner doesn't count, did a band challenge, finished all the others, went back and saw my band stars were reverted :( Did it again, achievement unlocked.

I got all the stars for Bleed it Out by Linkin Park and I am going to detail everything I did to achieve this.

For the FC just pick the difficulty you are comfortable with, I did guitar on hard to also get the guitar streak challenge.

Guitar challenges:
Highscore = 212,200
Chords Hit = 468 chords
Streak = 450 notes

I did the streak and chords hit during my hard FC, as for the high score you must do expert. Just try to keep a combo, practice the parts that are troubling you and use star power effectively.

Bass:
Highscore = 81,300
Highscore while star power active = 36,600

Bass was easily FCable on expert, and again use star power effectively and you should be golden.

Drums:
Highscore = 85,000
Streak = 350 notes

I am not good at drums, but luckily you only have to play hard. You will need to basically get an FC though, something I still couldn't do playing normally. So how I got the FC was to use my right hand to play the foot pedal (held it in my lap) and play the drums with my left hand. It might take a while to get the rhythm down, but this was the only way I could do it.

Vocal:
Highscore = 83,200
Spoken Notes = 234 notes

I hate vocals so I made an mp3 file in audacity to sing the song for me. Here is the link for the folder holding the file: https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1Y54N6ddRdGQ1dAXB8pLF...
There are 2 files in the folder if doing solo vocals you want to use the file 'Bleed it out (No Guitar).mp3'. The timing is set so you hit play right at the start of the first phrase (when the phrase bar touches the green bar). I didn't do the whole song just enough for the high score challenge, so you still should use star power as soon as possible.

Band:
Highscore (Standard Band) = 580,000
Highscore (Non-Standard Band) = 615,000
Notes Hit = 1,890 notes

I did all band challenges with 1 friend (thanks Apandolfo), for the standard band I played Vocals (expert), bass (expert) and drums (beginner) and he played Guitar (expert). I barely touched the drums, I only hit the foot pedal if I didn't have any notes on bass, while I got an FC on bass and had my file sing. I think we got around 700,000. For the non-standard challenges, we each played Guitar (expert) and vocals (expert). However, we couldn't time the start of the file right as we were already playing guitar at that point. So I made a second file 'Bleed it out.mp3' the timing of this file is to hit play as the first bars on the neck of the guitar crossed the notes at the bottom. I think we got a score of about 1,600,000 way more than what was required and for notes, we got around 2,000.

If you have any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

There are 3 guitar challenges, 2 bass challenges, 2 drum challenges, 2 vocal challenges, and 3 band challenges on each song. Many of the challenges are hard. I recommend choosing an easy song with easy challenges ("Bleed it Out" by Linkin Park is a good choice).

For this trophy, it is important to know that the Power Challenge stars do not count towards the 42 stars required for this trophy. (As indicated in the trophy description.) If you do not have the songs from the old games as I did not, then the song "Bleed it Out" by Linkin Park is going to be your best bet.

First of all, you will need all instruments to achieve this, as well as the ability to play as a band. All of the challenges associated to the song are easily achievable. If, like me, you struggle in the vocal department, you may want to give up and use the link at the bottom. Sync up the video to your speakers, (Phone, computer, etc..) and place the mic in front of it. It may take several tries to make this work.

this is the maximum in every song. in each song they are different and made for each instrument separately and as a group.

For many, the hardest part of this trophy is getting the stars for the vocals. Songs with easy vocals are always difficult on other instruments (especially drums), and vice versa. I recommend trying Bleed It Out, Seven Nation Army, Losing My Religion.
