How to unlock the Feed the Hungry achievement in Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland - Definitive Guide

This is attached to the two endings [Treasure Hunt, Chapter I] and [Treasure Hunt, Chapter II], both involving the Golden Sweet Potato and Praria Gate. For the purpose of this guide, I will be detailing the steps for unlocking it through Chapter I, which primarily involves Tim, Bob, and your Dog.

* Befriend Tim and Bob. Tim prefers eggs (loves Golden Eggs) and Bob prefers sweets (loves cooked sweets like Very Berry Jam).

* Eventually, Tim will visit your farm one morning with a treasure map he found. It'll lead you to Bob's secret treasure of old toys, also netting you

** At this point, make sure that your dog is at 4 Hearts, or you'll need to focus on Chapter II instead. Deviations will come up in bold at different points for this reason.**
* Continue to befriend the two and Tim will visit a second time with another map, looking more genuine than the first. He'll have made a duplicate for you to use this time, as he's not sure where the Sacred Land described is talking about. From here, you do need to talk to absolutely everyone including the Sprites and the Harvest Goddess. The Goddess will even suggest that you talk to everyone and have a smart dog, as these are actual requirements.

* Add to your gift rotation the following people: Parsley, Louis, Woody, Gwen, Kurt, Gina, Martha. Parsley loves produce from your farm, Louis loves cooked egg dishes, Woody simply enjoys eggs, Gwen loves fruit, Kurt loves tomatoes, Gina enjoys fish but will take eggs, as will Martha. Or, if you want to, you could just give gifts to everyone. Work from the cafe to Clove Villa to maximize your time and set yourself up for the next scene. The only exception is to not rely on Dia, so just make it easier for yourself and don't talk to her.
**If your dog isn't that smart, befriend Dia at Clove Villa. She really enjoys blueberries, and after a few days of giving these to her, she will start to warm up. She is crucial to finding Praria for Chapter II. One day when you enter the Villa, she will greet you and say she'll investigate more about the Sacred Land. The only issue with chasing Dia's chapter is that you have to listen to her life story when she's outside of the Villa, which can take several days.**

* One day, when approaching Clove Villa when it isn't rainy, your dog will run up ahead of you and cause a commotion that Martha comes out to investigate. Your dog will happen upon the secret path behind the villa leading to the Sacred Land, Tim eventually following behind you.
**Give Dia enough time and gifts (listen to her life story, give her blueberries and blueberry jam) and she'll show up one morning to lead you to the Sacred Land.**

* ** The two paths converge here, now. You'll need to plant crops in the 5x5 plot found here in the Sacred Land, as described by the stone tablet here as well, to make the treasure appear. Plant according to the symbols on the land before you till it (till, then seed, then water). STAR denotes planting Potatoes, SQUARE denotes Corn, MUSICAL NOTE denotes Breadfruit, and HEART denotes Tomatoes. Make sure you plant them properly, or you'll need to hoe the seed up and plant out of another bag. After successfully planting them all in the right spots, begin watering them. This will take around eight days, so if you can get this even before the rainy season, it'd benefit you more. Otherwise, just keep making the trek here to water them all.

Do not harvest any of the crops in Praria until the treasure appears. I have no valid information saying otherwise, but I'd rather not have you void your immediate chance with the first crop rotation and have to wait for another growth cycle. Potatoes grow the fastest, then Tomatoes, and Breadfruit/Corn take the longest (I believe Corn is the longest between the two). The day you return when all of the crops are blooming, you'll be greeted with a cutscene instead where a treasure chest has appeared near the stone tablet with the true treasure within: a bag of seeds.

From here, either Tim (Chapter I) or Dia (Chapter II) will take the seeds and begin growing it in a garden plot near Lyla's shop. Keep visiting this area every day and you'll get three additional cutscenes:
- The first cutscene will be within two days of planting, where you'll have the crop growing.
- The second cutscene will be within a week afterwards, where golden flowers begin to blossom on top. This will prompt some curious thoughts between the onlookers Lyla and Parsley.
- The last cutscene will be when everyone gathers to unearth the fruit itself. This will reveal it is a Golden Sweet Potato, a crop thought to be extinct but the history revealed by Woody. This will, of course, set off the final progress of this story, where you must visit the Carpenter's Hut the following day to start the celebratory feast.

Within the feast cutscene, you'll get the trophy and, after the cutscene, the Ending Slate for whichever Chapter you worked on.

-{ I've had a lot of research done on trying to complete these, and that is where I came across that you do need to befriend others than the main actors for these two chapters. Namely, Dia's story has to be heard consistently in order to get her Chapter, while Tim's Chapter simply involves having everyone spoken to and befriending quality actors. I can confirm that Tim's Chapter is easily obtained this way, but since I didn't have to complete both in order to get the Platinum, I cannot confirm if Dia's is worth the effort. }-
