Ending #7: The Bluebird of Happiness Involved: Louis
NOTICE: Completing endings acts as a New Game +. You will restart on Spring 2, retain your house purchases, and your animals will come with you. Heart progress on all animals will also remain. The only things that change are: ending-specific items and relationships with townsfolk. With that being said, let's carry on with the details specific to this ending, shall we? (Contained within spoiler tags.)
Louis is the caretaker of the tool store in the homeland. In order to start for this ending, befriend him by giving him an egg every day. His shop is open starting at 10 a.m. so you can easily go in shortly after that and give him one. You can either give him one from the nearby grocery store, or you can use the ones you get from your own chickens (in fact, Golden Eggs give him plenty of extra points). Louis can be found in the forest and around Maple Lake (either around the lake itself or in the cafe) on Wednesdays and Saturdays (before noon, he'll be walking to the forest and hanging out around there. After that, he'll be in the cafe until 6).
(Stage 1) After befriending him enough, one day when you go to meet him at Maple Lake on his day off, he will be playing his flute to the birds. This is when you will get the flute for yourself, to train your dog with. This does have a bearing on the ending itself, though you can get this stage of the ending without actually planning on going to the end (as there is an ending that does require using the dog).
(Stage 2) Continue befriending Louis and one other day while at the lake, you will find him feeding the birds and he asks you to join. He remarks on having seen a blue bird at one time and wonders what that was about and how he hasn't seen it lately. Woody will chime in from behind and explain why that is.
(Stage 3) Giving him more eggs, one more Saturday you should find him playing the flute at the lake. Lyla will be watching from a distance and the two of you listen intently to his performance. This is a staged set-up between Louis and Lyla, showing you who will pair up in the end from this ending.
(Stage 4) Around two weeks later, he will come to your house and ask if you've been practicing and want to play with him. Agree and you'll immediately be taken to the lakefront. What proceeds next is a mini-game where you must match the notes flying to you from the right with the one directly above your head, while holding and pressing a specific direction. Green is up, blue is down, pink is left, and red is right. In order to pass this stage, you can only properly fail a few notes for it to count for the ending, or you will be given the choice to try again (and if you're wanting this ending, do so). A bluebird will have been listening overhead and, from it, a loose feather will fall to your side. You give this to Louis, who knows exactly how to save the homeland.
(Stage 5) Any time after a week later, when you go to the lake, Louis will rush to you and let you know that the feather was enough proof for the land developers to back off to protected the endangered bluebird! Happy ending achieved!
