How to unlock the Sea Commander achievement in Hasbro Family Game Night - Definitive Guide
Simply win 20 games of battleships, easiest done with two controllers, you just need to remember where you place both sets of ships. Quickest on salvo mode as you get 5 shots a turn.
Setup a Custom Game of Salvo with 2 controllers, when the starts place the losing players ships top left going from the 5 to the 2 sized ships, then place the winning players ships bottom right in the same manner.
Then use your first turn to destroy the 5 sized ship and so on, the win should take 4 turns.
Here's a video to demonstrate.

Torpedo does not make it go faster - no matter what it will take the same number of turns to finish. If anything the additional time in placement and waiting for the torpedo to hit will take longer.

And thats the reason its not in the solution.

Easy way to practically guarantee yourself a win against the AI in Salvo mode:
1. Put your ships around the edge. Using the "real" game's alphanumeric coordinate system, I put the battleship in A1-D1, the carrier in J1-J5, the sub in H10-J10, the cruiser in A10-C10, and the destroyer in A5-A6.
2. The AI does not seem to think you'll put your ships on the edges. He will, around his 3rd turn or so, find your carrier, but the rest of his shots he'll scatter in the center.
3. Do the typical "every other square" search method, starting in the center, and working your way out. You'll start finding his ships by your 2nd turn, 3rd at the most.
This method worked for me game after game. He'd sink my carrier, but I ended almost every game with the other 4 ships still afloat. Only lost 2 ships once or twice.
Wash, rinse, and repeat 20 times, achievement unlocked. This method is if you don't have 2 controllers or want to play against the AI. Good luck!
