How to unlock the Iron Man - Heartland achievement in Homefront - Definitive Guide

I know for most people the end when you jump from the church to the chopper is probably whats giving people trouble. My method worked on both my gorilla and ironman runs. Basically you run down from the church go left and you'll see enemies hoping the fence. Kill them while in cover there behind the bus. Next, while still in cover kill the few guys to your right.now there is a nice bit of cover right ahead in the corner there to the left. It gives you agood vantage point of the enemies that spawn both left and right. Now basically you want to thin the guys on the right then thin them on the left.once you feel you have cleared enough toss a nade left then run around you cover keeping left. You'll notice on ur left an opened door go in there to heal if needed and catch your breath. Next continue along the left and ull see right in front of u a structure to hide under. Hide there and kill the two guys outside. Once again toss a nade and run for the cover ur team is hiding at and go prone. They will tell u to go for the chopper but make sure u wait for them to go first. I went same time and they got in my way and I couldn't get through and died. Once they are through make a run through the fence but dont head straight for chopper. Turn left into the fence and heal. U cant be hit here. Once healed run to chopper. Hope this helps. If I were u I'd load up this check point before going for iron man just to get familiar with the cover and route I'm suggesting only because it takes a long time to get to this point. Good luck.

Good advice for loading up the last segment a few times before the attempt. I have 3 times now died while running for that bird without dying previously.

Was so incredibly lucky got that last bit first flipping try on Guerilla after dying a billion times in the church and trying to get to the top, you can run over the slanted gate giving you a head start, also when the guy is pushing the truck into the game shoot a few guys whilst you are at it it felt like they died (without respawning again) since there were far fewer enemies

I commented about this in the other solution, but if you are able to acquire a rifle + grenade launcher earlier in the mission (I found mine around the downed Korean chopper), as that solution says, it helps in the end. You get 8-9 grenades to spam with the launcher for this end solution, as opposed to the 4 frags you would have equipped otherwise.

Good luck everyone, was very fortunate to get it first time through; read this and watched the 3rd solution's video.

Some tips for all stages:
- Difficulty does not matter, so you're better off playing on easy.
- Use cover! Most of the environment is indestructible, everything from airplane parts to wood crates, use that to your advantage, and heal when you've taken some damage.
- Take it slow! In most parts of the game (if not all - there's at least one spot I'm just not sure of), there is a set number of enemies, no unlimited spawning like Black Ops, so there's no pressure to make it up to a certain area. Take your time and pick guys off from a distance. Your team will usually run ahead of you when an area has been cleared. Whey they get to the next area, they may take out a few of the enemies or, at the very least, help show you where the enemies are ... BUT ...
- Your team AI isn't always great. Enemies will sometimes run right by them and come after you. Your team can't be killed, which is a huge plus, but always stay on your toes!
- Watch out for the grenade indicator. There isn't a 'throw back' option like in other games, so your only choice is to get out of there!

Possible Issues with Stage 5: (minor spoilers)
- You do a lot of sniping in this level, make sure you only fire when ordered to by Connor, otherwise it's mission fail. I even made the mistake on my first playthrough of not noticing it still said 'wait' above an enemy, even though I knew he was the one I was taking out. Wait for the prompt to turn red (I think it says 'execute' instead of 'wait'?)
- You break off from the group to head into the church later in the level. Be extra careful on your own, there's no one else around to take bullets for you. After killing the first couple guys outside the church the doors will automatically open and more guys will pour out. Inside the church, you end up on the upper level, but look out for the guys on the ground floor, they can be tough to spot.
- Once your sniping is done from the top of the church, you have to come down and meet up with your team at the chopper. This is another spot where I don't know if it's actually possible to kill everyone (porschephiliac confirms enemies spawn infinitely). I used up the rest of my sniper ammo taking out guys from a distance (pretty easy since they're all facing the other direction at first), then I made a run for the chopper, I kept to the left side but I'm sure you could go the other way too. I lucked out a bit, I stumbled upon a rifle with attached grenade launcher earlier in the level, it came in very handy at the end.

There is an M4 with 203 in the church, you must find it to use it.

The enemies keep spawning until the mission is over. I tested this theory last night and played the same spot for an hour. They just kept coming.

Just a warning, there is a guy hiding in the room at the top of the church who can kill you pretty much instantly if you sprint straight into it. I did exactly that and had to start over... So I recommend approaching that part very slowly, maybe even toss a grenade in to be safe.

For a rifle w/ grenade launcher, I found an M16+launcher right in the middle of the destroyed Korean helicopter, in your 2nd encounter upon "going loud" after the sniping part of the mission. I'm sure that exact placement is coincidence, as it was likely dropped by a Korean soldier in that fight, but that's a good place to snoop around. The grenade launcher will help in the last bit as you run for your life, as stated in the solution :-D

If you're looking to bolster your CQC arsenal after the sniping mission, this area also has some M4 rifles with silencers and ACOGs, nicer than trying to use your sniper at close/medium range (there is a silenced sniper in the crow's nest at the end, so no worries about dropping yours earlier on).

Even better, there is ALWAYS a rifle w/ grenade launcher halfway up the inside stairs through the church doors. Super helpful when navigating the church. Can be helpful outside after sniping, too.
