How to unlock the Glory to Hiccup achievement in How to Train Your Dragon - Definitive Guide
You will have to do an entire playthrough just to get this achievement. (or Glory to Astrid, depending on who you choose first) The best tip i can give to speed up this play through is that you don't need a level 25 dragon to beat the game.
I beat the game with two level 16 deadly nadders but i suspect i could have gone as low as level 13. And i probably would have been OK with only 1 dragon but i would have lost a couple fights.
Getting to level 13 will give you enough points to max out damage and the Stamina bars. This will make the fights easier. I left the speed and fire bars empty. I didn't need those attributes since my fighting style was to spam the Y button.
I didn't do any training to level up my dragon. The XP rewards is too low. I just got gold medals on all the easy and normal minigames to get to level 16. And since you only need to get to level 13, you only have to beat half the normal games.
Other than that, make sure your dragons are always in good shape. This will get you 4 life bars in your fights. I was able to feed and heal my dragons solely from items found in the village. No need to collect items in the wild zone.
When your dragons escape and you have to win a wild fight to get them back, you should be able to win with a level 1 deadly nadder. Just make sure he is in good health to get the 4 life bars.
The save time on my game was 3 h 30 m. I suspect you could cut it to 3 h with my tips.
Good luck

As the achievement says you need to finish the story with Hiccup. Once you've completed the final fight in the last tournament this achievement will pop for you.
Hiccup is one of two characters for which you can progress through the story. Just play through the game with him.
