How to unlock the What an Artist! achievement in How to Train Your Dragon - Definitive Guide

I found this to be the most challenging of the five Expert-difficulty mini-game achievements. It's far more luck-based than skill-based. The most important thing to keep in mind is that there ARE blocks that, in my experience, are impossible to sculpt. If the target space is at the far right of the bar, don't even bother with it. Between having to check which button you need to press and the limited speed of the human thumb, I don't believe it's possible to get the bar past the 80-85% mark. Don't waste your energy with these situations, and don't be frustrated that you can't get them.

It's also important to get a feel for how the bar increases and decreases. Specifically, it increases in short jumps with each button press and decreases at a very quick, steady rate when not pressing anything. If you overshoot your target, you need to learn not to be surprised when the bar quickly drops way past where you intended it to fall.

Unfortunately, here's no exact strategy because of the sheer variety of target locations. If the target is close to the left side, I would recommend not pressing anything immediately so you're not trying to balance your bar in the target area the whole time. Instead, wait until your circular meter is mostly full and just tap a few times. If the bar is 50-75% of the way across the bar, mashing is a pretty safe strategy, especially if it takes you a moment to begin pressing the correct button. If it's in the 20-50% range, that's where it may get trickier and you'll have to balance the increase/decrease speeds of the bar.

Try and go for this one naturally while you're ranking up your for dragons to level 25, and don't grind for it until all four dragons have gold medals on expert. For me, it took about an hour of grinding. Remembering that far-right targets can be out of your control will hopefully make it a bit less stressful, and you can knock this out in a couple sittings.

This one is kind of tricky... what I did was just keep re-trying. With some blocks you have to start mashing the right button real fast, I think that sometimes it is even impossible. Sooner or later you get lucky and all the blocks can be sculpted with minimum effort.

This challenge is legitimately a challenge. You will need some skill and a little luck. The challenge itself is pretty self-explanatory so just keep practising and you’ll eventually get it.

The main thing is that at the end of the time the strip is in the right place. If you see that the strip is far away, you need to press the button more actively - you may easily not have time.

I got the trophy purely by chance, probably on my 10th try
