You can get this on the very first fight on the game, on the tutorial boss. Just keep attacking with your party. The boss won't kill you. Don't use your power move (RB + X). Just keep using your X, Y, A, B attacks until it unlocks. The achievement tracks progress.
Each full attack with all of your characters will get you around 23,400 damage, usually more. This means you'll have to attack around 95 times to unlock the achievement.

As the description says, you simply have to do a total of 2,216,972 damage or more. This should easily come naturally as you play through the story, as it is not meant to be done in one go but rather is cumulative throughout your entire playthrough. Personally, I got mine by Chapter 5: Port Maerifa.
It is interesting to note that the trophy title ("Funded!") and the number they chose is in reference to their Kickstarter campaign, where they earned exactly $2,216,972.

The, Pants, Party
This achievement can't be missed if you finish the story. You should get it in the second or third location. Fun note: The total damage is the total amount they raised during their crowdfund campaign.
