How to unlock the Star Performer achievement in Interpol: The Trail of Dr. Chaos - Definitive Guide

**First off: Bust out that second controller of yours and load up the game in 2 player Co-op local. You will get TONS more score this way than in single player.

This will obviously take some practice and memorization of most of the items in a mission you are most comfortable with.

I stuck with San Francisco since it seemed easiest on the eyes for me. Make sure to pick up items in quick succession. You still need to pick up the bonus cards, but try to do it at the end or very beginning all at once (they do NOT keep your multiplier alive)

You will notice a bonus multiplier of 250, 500, or 1000 when you get each item in succession fast enough. You normally have 2 to 3 seconds in between each item to keep this alive. Focus on that, and of course use no hints.

Tap A rapidly to restart quickly if you feel you went too slow. When I got the achievement on San Fran, I managed to get just above 235000 score.

Unsure if the second controller helped, but it seemed to. Unlocked for both at 230.150 score, so 230.000 is probably the target.

I scored 230,000 points but it didn't unlock for me (with two controllers). Must be too slow.

225,400 is not enough. Finding all 9 cards is higher priority than going as fast as possible

Got mine at 227,650, got 8 of the 9 cards. But the 2 controller method seems to be the trick.

Just looked into it, and each bonus card gives a different extra, and only one card per the 3 levels in san francisco can give an extra 1 minute on your time, so how is everyone finishing with 30 mins left on the clock?

I have same issue at TitianDan , I start at 10 minutes also, I checked a youtube video and they have 30 minutes like solution! WTF?! Checked the settings and no luck. Gonna try on 360 later to see if it's a backwards compat issue...

Just tried everything I could think of to get it to work on XBOX one BC, deleted reserve space, deleted game (save files appear to be attached to gamertag via server) with no luck, always had 10 minutes only on timer. I booted up 360 and it had 30 minutes from the get go. So this appears to be glitched on xbox one BC version and only 100% completion possible via xbox 360 now.

[UPDATE] TitianDan also discovered you can do it offline via backwards compatibility if you don't have a 360 console. Just won't have a time stamp.

I'm having the same problem. Using the "take a photo and pause" method, I'm blasting through each scene quickly. On my last run I made zero mistakes, used no hints, and collected all the bonus cards. And in co-op of course.

...I only got 111,000 points, less than half of what I needed. I'm sure I'm not as fast as some people, but surely I should be able to crack the 200k mark. Definitely glitched on X1.

I confirm via backward compatibility, you have to play offline to get 30 minutes on the clock.

I just checked this on the Series X and no glitch. Finally got this achievement without getting my 360 out!

Oh weird, that is interesting. I wonder if that means it's been fixed on the One too now. Presumably it's the same version of the game being emulated.

I had the glitch on the Series X. Playing offline didn't help. Installed it on my 360 and popped this first try, with 30 mins on the clock.

Got it on my 360 1st attempt! Dont bother wasting 2 hours plus trying on x1 if you get the 10 min mission time, you have NO chance!

Thanks for this. Got it on my 360 with a GH guitar for the second controller. For anyone still working on it, I got 27,400 twice, and it didn't pop, but it popped at 27,550, so that seems to be the cutoff.

I can confirm the second controller does help a stack. It, for some reason, increases the amount of score you garner during a mission.

This is definitely the case, or it was sheer coincidence that I got this achievement the first time I tried after jacking in my second controller after getting a string of around 200,000 point games in solo play. So I'd like to take this as confirmation as co-op being the easiest way to go about this achievement.

Great guide.

My wife and I got this playing co-op on the final city (Cairo) pretty easily. We weren't going for this achievement but were just playing co-op to see if you could pop the no-hints achievement for two people at once that way (you can't). We got Master on Rome and Elite on Cairo. I didn't take note of our score or time remaining but in the four stages we definitely had a few spots where we were just staring at the screen for a while especially on the 4th stage. I didn't even realize we earned Elite until the achievement popped for both of us - i.e. I can confirm that the achievement pops for the host and the 2nd player in co-op in case anyone was wondering. The later cities have so many more items to find compared to San Francisco - perhaps that's why we earned high ranks even with a couple spots where we had trouble.

Excellent solution and comments. Got it on 360 with 2 controllers and the photo method. Got all the bonus cards on San Fran and made a few stupid mis-clicks.
Final stats:
Time remaining: 30:26.
Hints remaining: 7
No hints used bonus: 5000
Total score: 228350, so apparently don't need to break 30k..?

I initially had trouble with only having 10 mins instead of 30 as a couple of folks have mentioned, but I found it was a licence problem (i.e. it didn't think it was the full version), but resolved by re-downloading via the licence transfer option in account management.

You have to get all the objects and all the calling cards as quick as possible. This popped for me with 31 minutes left on the clock. You can't make a mistake, and you can't use hints.

The easiest level to do this on is San Francisco (the first level)... Learn the positions of each object and go for it.

EDIT:
dwu1983 has informed that you can get it and make the odd mistake,

Finding it hard to get this achievement?

Then why not cheat?

Okay, it's not technically cheating, it's taking advantage of the save file system. As has been pointed out in the solution for the Just Said No achievement, if you go to the Xbox dashboard during a mission and then restart, you'll have to find the exact same objects in the level.

What's also true is that you can complete every single level in a mission save for the last one, quit to dashboard (not through the game but by using the xbox menu button on your controller while you are still in the mission) before clicking on the last item, and when you restart you'll have to find the same stuff you just did in every single level of the mission - which you should be able to get in record time and without mistakes, since you just clicked on all of them. I just finished the London mission this way and got the achievement on the first try.

Note that you should also be able to get the Wham Bam achievement (level complete in less than 30 seconds) this way, but as has been stated in the top rated solution for that achievement you can also just play the bonus level and it'll unlock no matter what your time is.

Credit to Dude Rain for pointing out the save system flaw in his solution for Just Said No.

Thank you, by far the easiest method. Just practice the same level for a few times to build speed finding the exact same items and worked like a charm!

Ended with 31:50 on clock still.
Mission Score: 234,000

Just done this and although both of the above are correct just a little bit of help on what I found to work, I did this with two controllers with a mate on the San Francisco. We managed to get this done as above about 5 times with no mistakes, all bonus found, no clues used, and the best time was 31.17 left and nothing. Then on one last play though I made a few mistakes used a hint but got all the cards and pop with a time of just over 30mins left. So general tip is that it would appear that you need to keep completing the level and it would randomly pop the achievement.

If you don't have a second controller (or 2nd profile you can log in on XB1), you can still get this fairly easily with the help pf a phone or tablet.

Load up the first mission, San Fransisco and as soon as it loads, take a picture of the screen. Be sure to include the list of items at the top. Then pause the game. You can now spend as long as you like looking at the picture to find the items.

I would suggest first finding the three bonus items (playing cards), unpause the game, select them all and pause again. Then find some of the items, unpause, select them and pause again. Keep doing this until you get them all for that level.
Do the same for the next two levels and you should get the achievement easily, since you are really only taking a few seconds to complete lthe levels.

It make take a couple of goes if you are unlucky and get an item that you cannot find, in which case just start again.

I got this on my third attempt this way.
