Each module, ammunition, and weapon upgrade costs currency that you get for completeing each level. You buy these in the home base. The further you get into the campaign, the more you will get for each level. You get points based on your performance (level complete, armor damage, and enemies defeated.) The last two levels of the campaign are cash cows. Millions for each one. If you play every level as Iron Man and War Machine, you should have enough. On my easy playthough (just to rake up the easy achievements) I ended the game with every item researched and 8 mil remaining in funds. If you replay the levels requiring both Iron Man and War Machine then this will be difficult to not get after level 8.

You will get most of the points by time you finish the game, simply replay the last mission and you will get around 40 million points. Although if you play on easy then Hard grinding wont be necessary. You upgrade everything in headquarters.
