Sooo... I noticed this achievement after completing the game, right before starting the DLC. I used melee only during quests in the main game, started slapping everything in the DLC and went back to the main after finishing to complete the list.
The results:
4 mobs (2 Birds, 2 Vipers) are DLC only - all slapped in DLC
4 mobs, which exist in both, I only slapped in the DLC
27 (22 animals and the 5 plants from the kindex) - slapped in main
6 recurrent mini bosses (2 Pikemandas, 2 Kapaynas, 2 Slamphibians) - slapped during fights
2 bosses (Cragclaw , Floopsnoot Matriarch) - slapped after fight
This leaves Teratomo and four regular mobs (including Schnozo) without slap, when my achievement triggered.

So, here my theory:
The main bosses, which are only seen once in the game, don't count.
'Amber Armor' is equipment and does not count as a separate bird.
As the achievement is older than the DLC, DLC mobs probably don't count
Main Game mobs, which are slapped in the DLC, do count.
Kicks do count.
As 'Achieve Bean' got the trigger after slapping a Schnozo and I never hit one, it is certain that there are more possible victims, than needed for the achievement.
But even as this would make a perfect kindex fit with 37 total for me, Achieve Bean mentioned that they only needed around 30 mobs total. Sooo… presumably, after all, the DLC doesn't count and I just slapped 8 mobs, which were not on the list.

So.. why did I write this? Everyone just slaps mobs until the thing triggers.. Guess I have spent more time in theorizing this, than the devs needed to write the code for it. Probably they just gave most of the mobs a virtual checkbox to keep track if it already got a slap to the face and when the total hits 30, it's done headspin

I can confirm that it works on creatures that are dead, as I did Meat Vortex and all bosses.

Well dammit, because I have done it on everything like twice, but the Cragclaw and Matriarch were dead.
[Edit]: I figured out my issue. Occasionally you will KICK creatures instead of slapping them. Finally got the achievement on an Infected Pufferbird which I know I beat up several times, but apparently always kicked them. So if you THINK you kicked them instead of slapping them, do it again to be sure.
Slapping the dead bosses or closed Meat Vortexes works fine, since that is what I did.

I can confirm that if the bosses are needed for this, they could be dead. Did all slapping after the story was over.

If it's not unlocking, try using binding bile on an infected pufferbird before slapping it.

Huge thanks to Holygrail311, I used a shock fruit and slapped the infected pufferbird and it unlocked it :)

Is there a tracker to know what you've got?
(I've not played the game yet)

@DrJekl - there is a tracker for the creatures on the ship, if you have scanned them they will appear on the computer under collectables. I would recommend slapping something after scanning it

If you are sure you slap every creatures and your achievement did not pop find an infected pufferbird, throw him a binding bile and slap it again. I don't know if this is a glitch or because the infected pufferbird explodes when you get close but I am sure I already slap one before and did not get my achievement. Saw this trick on a playstation site. It popped right away after I have done this. If you need one you can find some in the itching fields southwest of the festering chasm teleporter on top of some shrooms platform.

Bosses definitely don't count and the Infected Puffer I shocked and slapped for it to count for me.

Well, I was hoping the Infected Puffer thing was right... it wasn't... time to track down every single thing and slap it again, even though I intentionally slapped every single thing I found knowing about this achievement.

Edit: Scratch that, I got it it just didn't actually pop up.

@Wolfie - After you beat the game you can go back into the world so you wouldn't really need to make another play-through. As many of us have mentioned, Bosses do not need to be slapped.

Parkman Rules you beautiful bastard. Intentionally went though and made sure after scanning, I slapped them, THEN killed them. Didn't pop at end game and hitting Tomato man. Binding glue infected and SLAP POP!!

Thank you. Maybe edit solution, if you read this Drastic?

Edit: thanks matey, it was a great tip!

i can also confirm it doesnt have to be in a single playthrough. Me and a friend just got it after playing through old man minus together then went through on normal to get all the collectibles. Slapped a burglesnatch and it popped.

You might also not have to do all the variations, because it was the first burglesnatch i slapped.

What happened to @snake42069 also happened to my buddy. Not sure if it's glitched but he didn't slap all variations of creatures.

Can anyone confirm if it counts if the bosses are already dead? Or do they have to be alive?
EDIT: I just want to note here for anyone in the future that I read elsewhere that they do not have to be alive. I have not actually tested that, myself, yet, (I'm about to) but I wanted to note it for future reference.
GREAT game!!!!!! It's going on my top 15, maybe even top 10, hands-down!

Not really too sure MelonMutou about the bosses. I do know that Crabbycrabcrabman was definitely dead when I slapped him as I forgot, I had to go back to his dead body to do it too, so they either don’t count or it doesn’t matter if they’re dead.

Don't know if this was a glitch, but I got this without having discovered all of the creatures, it unlocked for me when I discovered and slapped the Baboushka (Quater). At that point the only creature I had left to discover and slap was the Burglesnatch (Balmy).

This didn't pop for me. I assume you have to power slap them and not normal slap them?

By Luciano Di Mase on 04 May 2020 08:39
You don't need to power slap them. I got the Achievement by doing everything with a regular slap, since I forgot you could charge the slap.

I don't think bosses are needed for this... Some variants may also be skippable.
I got the achievement after stunning and slapping an infected pufferbird.

I still hadn't seen, scanned or slapped Kapeyna (battle) Pikemander (deserter) or Teratomo

Any tips on how to get Burglesnatches to spawn? Can't get the tundra one to come out.

@RJ7 he is interested in resources, kill pufferbird etc in that area and it will lure him out of the cave

In coop, does each person have to slap for a mob to count for them? I can't find anything saying if progress is individual or not.

By Kyleia on 04 Sep 2020 06:26
Bosses and variants are skippable, I never slapped teratomo or the burglesnatch tundra and I think I was missing a couple other variants. (unfortunately, my computer died and my slap list wasn't saved so I can't confirm exactly what isn't needed but you clearly don't need everything)=(

Cfasand is incorrect. This can be unlocked for a non-host player in co-op provided the player has slapped the alien creatures themselves.

This popped for both me and and my co-op partner on 29 October 2020 when we both slapped our final creature.

I can't get this one to pop. I've been through the list twice now and slapped every one of these f*ckers silly but no achievement for me. Even though some have said variants and bosses aren't required, I covered them just in case and did the infected pufferbird thing and still nothing.
EDIT: I just popped it, thank god. I was missing one of the Boomerbang variants from Festering Chasm. So contrary to some advice from others, in my experience variants definitely count.

Final slap for me was the Red Jellywaft, can confirm they are needed separately from green

I had to slap everything repeatedly. The airborne critters can be a hassle even with the binding bile or shockfruit. Finally got this at endgame on a Prime Jellywaft. I had to shock it and slap repeatedly.

If you didn't get the achievement like me at the end of the game, go and slap the infected swarm, the bright yellow bugs that protect the honeycomb looking things? That's what I was missing. You can find them in the Itching Fields, Fungi of Si'ned VII teleport.

I just unlocked this, haven't even seen a Kapeyna (Battle) or a Burglesnatch (Balmy) let alone slapped them. I haven't slapped Teratomo either. Variants and bosses don't seem to count.

Okay, that's good - it seems the bosses are not needed. I was worried because the Crab was beaten and disappeared.

I have been slapping everything I've come across so far, and just got the achievement at the first Schnozo, despite having only seen 31/37 creatures. My girlfriend though, who had been slapping everything as well had not gotten the achievement.
EDIT: My girlfriend got it with 32/37. Her last was the Schnozo as well, but it just didn't seem to count the first time.

Unlocked for me on slapping the Burglesnatch (Tundra) variant, even though I had previously slapped the Burglesnatch (Blamy) variant. If I had to guess its just tracking slapping a certain number of enemies and doesn't necessarily require every last variant/boss.

Bosses don't seem to count but DLC might. I got mine as soon as I found the maroons and I didn't hit the Cragclaw, Schnozo, Imperial Scarab, Teratomo, or Kapeyna. I did the DLC as soon as it unlocked.

does kicking the pufferbirds count as a slap? It will automatically kick them if you're too close.

I have b-slapped everything over and over including bosses and every variation of creature. Still no chivo. What am I doing wrong? I even slapped, not kicked, but was sure to slap. Anyone else have a problem with the achievement not popping

Well, i just got the achievement for slapping all but Teratomo. havn't even been to the spire place yet. so maybe Teratomo isn't needed?

So doesn't this achievement need to be marked as missable? If you kill the bosses before slapping them?

Edit: actually I've just gone and slapped the corpse of the first boss and it did make the slapping noise and had the comic-like hit markers so maybe it still works? Can anyone confirm this?

Edit 2: I've just got this achievement before the end so I haven't slapped Teratomo. Perhaps bosses don't count at all. Also pretty sure Mear Vortexes and Barfers don't count either.

Great guide. Thanks. I did it after finishing game and bosses were dead. My last one was the infected pufferbird as thought I'd done them but didn't realised they had to be shocked or stuck to count roll

This will not unlock for the non-host player even if the host pops it during coop. Since the non-host player does not get a game save, this will need to be completely done in single player, or as the host in a coop game, to track progress.

Bosses do not need to be slapped for this as I unlocked it before reaching the final boss. I also unlocked this before slapping each variant of the creatures.

POSSIBLY GLITCHED

Notes: The description for this trophy is a little misleading, because it fails to mention that kicking is also an option. Also note that there is a possibility that this trophy could glitch, due to the Infected Pufferbirds not always counting correctly. If it does, find an Infected Pufferbird then kick it and the trophy will pop. Credit to AeroX999 for this info.

Bosses can be hit even after you've dealt with them. Slap the corpse with your palm, the contact will be counted. There is also a glitch with infected fluffy birds, if you spank them just like that, then the contact does not count, you need to slow them down with sticky mucus and spank them.

Shurabey's hint, relevant on the latest patch for ps5, hit with his hand without grenades - the trophy did not fall out, when he used a grenade - the trophy immediately fell.
