How to unlock the Hard as Nails achievement in Jurassic: The Hunted - Definitive Guide

Hard mode is only available after you have beaten the game the first time. Then, whenever you chose a level or start a new game, you will be given the option to play on Normal or Hard. The levels will be indicated with your main character holding a rifle in the Level Selection area.
Note: The achievement is slightly buggy. I played the first level on hard and stopped for the night. I went back and continued on a day later on hard. Every level appeared to have been beaten on hard. So after playing the last level a second time, I tried by playing the first level again and Ding! Hard as Nails. The only thing I can say is try to do the game on hard at one time.

After finishing the game on Hard, I had to re-play the first level on Hard too. Once the level was finished, the achievement popped.

Saame thing happened to me, but I pressed teh skip button to skip the last cut scene.. so I went back and replayed the last level and didn't skip the final cut scene and ACHIEVEMENT UNLOCKED! After you beat Spike, don't touch the controler and just watch right after you escape thru the portal the achievement should unlock.

I replayed level 12 because it is the shortest. I watched the entire cut scene just in case. That worked.

I realized that is much easier to fight with the two T-Rex (with the stationary gun) if you pay attention only on the Pterosaurs from the middle to the right side. The ones which come from the left usually don't hurt you. It gives you much more shooting power for the T-Rex before the gun get heat.

@Rowdawg88 ^ this is what happened to me exactly. I beat it on medium and quit out, went back to in later and it didnt save or something. I still have to beat the last 2 missions on medium again before I can start hard. I recommend one sitting unfortunately.

Same thing as Rowdawg88 and BSquad56. Beat the game, turned my console off, went to bed, booted it up in the morning, had to start normal mode all over. Make sure you can beat both modes in one sitting.

@pinski @rowdawg88 @bsquad56 same happened to me, beat the game other day, switched off for my tea and came back to do hard..NO SAVE. did normal run through again. came back next day NO SAVE.
did one complete run through on normal and luckily got the no death achievement and just carried on to my hard run through and achievement popped thankfully just before cut scene at end....so play it all in one go.
get everything done or as much as possible in normal run through, don't switch off 360 just carry on straight to hard run through.
everything in one sitting

Can confirm as of 2018 that the achievement is glitchy. Just played through hard in one sitting and didn't get the achievement. It only popped after i did that, and played the first level again.

As of 2020, I completed the normal playthrough, immediately after that I jumped into Hard mode. (Via NEW GAME) I completed the hard playthrough, result: No achievement unlock
I than used LEVEL SELECTION and played the first mission on HARD which resulted in the achievement unlocking.

I know most people will not read this as the game is old news, but I had alot of trouble with the game in general. After multiple playthroughs, I found that if I beat the game on medium and left the game (via dashboard) and then reloaded the game, there was no option to start a new game on hard or go to mission selection or anything. The only way I could beat the game on hard was basically playing through the game on medium, then hard in 1 sitting. I dont know if there are issues with the cloud or some system update or just glitchiness in the game but I recommend people playing this game twice in 1 sitting or they may turn off their xbox and come back to a very confusing title screen.

Welcome

To get this achievement without any gliches you must complete the game on hard in one sitting do not quit or restart a level if you died just load last checkpoint, after you complete the last level don't skip the cut scene and the achievement should unlock normally after the loading screen.

Here are some tips about boss battles:

# In level 8 when you need to kill the 2 T-rex bosses with the stationary gun just ignore the flying dinosaurs that are coming from left side they won't hurt you just keep killing the ones that are coming from the middle and right side.

# In level 11 when you are fighting spike for first time use the light machine gun and keep running from ammo box to another by this way you will kill him faster than any other weapon if he trapped you just keep shooting him with your light machine gun and if you run out of ammo just switch to any other weapon and shoot him and he will drop you.

# In level 14 (Last level) use the automatic shot gun and position your self in the top left side and keep shooting spike in his chest near the neck (This is where his heart located) and in the face it will take some time take him down but i believe this s the fastest way.

Good luck smile

***Note: it seems like this game has a corrupted or non-existent save file. Once you beat the game on normal, you will have the opportunity to play on Hard when you choose new game or use the level select. If you go to the dashboard, or turn off your system, you will NOT be able to play on Hard. To be safe, complete Hard after you have the other achievements.***

In Hard mode, everything plays the same, with the exception that you have less health. The AI isn't smarter, the enemies don't take more hits to kill. If you did the no-death playthrough, you should have all the skills needed to avoid lethal damage on this setting.

On the first level, you will have to press down on the D-pad to view a skeleton. Up and to the left of it is a new gun. This energy gun has unlimited ammo and deals a ton of damage towards the non-boss enemies. It will be your main weapon during 95% of this playthrough. The only times I didn't use it was during the two battles against Spike, where a combo of the heavy machine gun, rocket launcher, and grenades did the most of the work.

During the T-Rex fight, use your adrenaline when the flying enemies get overwhelming, and aim for the T-Rexes' leg to knock them down so they don't bite you.

After you beat the game on normal, hard difficulty becomes available as well as the plasma rifle. You can either start a new game altogether or go to mission select. The best way to do this, however, is kind of in between. You should go to level select, choose the first level, and select the hard difficulty. Then you should play through the levels in sequence. This way all of your normal run stats carry over and you can get the plasma rifle right away. Should you decide you want to skip around and not complete the levels in sequence, you can. You will know if you’ve completed a level on hard difficulty if an icon of the main character appears on bottom center of the level at the level selection screen.

Some more info on the awesome plasma rifle: Very early in the first level (on hard difficulty only), you will come across a fallen comrade’s uniform. The plasma rifle is just above him. This gun shoots an extremely powerful plasma burst and has unlimited ammo. The only draw back to the gun is that it can only fire five shots back-to-back before having to recharge. This gun will make your hard run very easy, even though it’s not that hard to begin with.

One final remark: It is possible that the trophy does not pop after you finish the last level on hard. In this case, replay the first level and the trophy should pop upon completion.

After completing the first 2 levels, it seemed to me that it was no more difficult than the norm. But starting from the third I felt the difficulty) A severe test, but if you try, it works out quite well. Moreover, after completing the game for the first time, at the beginning of the game on hard you will be given a plasma gun with infinite ammunition, but it takes quite a long time to recover. A powerful weapon, although not a hammer one.
