How to unlock the Destroyer achievement in Just Cause 2 - Definitive Guide

A Sabotage is done by destroying the Panauan Infrastructure. If you come across a structure with a white, five armed star on it you can blow it up to execute a sabotage! Some of these like Pipelines or Fuel Shafts cannot be simply blown to pieces.

Pipelines feature a small terminal which you can locate easily by looking out for some stairs leading up to the pipeline. Fuel Shafts extend into the ground any you need to climb down the enemy ridden shaft. The terminal is on the bottom most floor. Be sure to look for a quick way out before staring the detonation countdown.

You can check your progress in the statistics menu. The following all count towards the achievement:

What exactly would you call "more"? I would gladly extend my solution to accommodate more information if you give me feedback on what you think is missing!

If there is a propaganda trailer there is usually a transformer or generator around that settlement.
Also sometimes the settlement extends further than you think and you may miss a fenced off area with things to destroy or a building out of the way with a crate.

I reposted the comments to fix some links and formatting.

@xHis Lordship: My general advice would be:
- Grapple and Parachute around the village to see if there is a crate left by keeping an eye on the meter in the top left corner of your Minimap (will only be revealed if something is nearby)
- Keep an eye out for Transformers. They are usually attached to two wooden poles and easy to miss.

Please refer to Freeroamer 1 in Just Cause 2 for more info.

@matdan12: Absolutely. Crates can usually be located easily with the homing signal but transformers are very hard to find if you missed them on your first sweep.

Hey, just curius, but I thought SAMs don't count towards %, just towards chaos, I may be wrong though....

As far as I am aware, they do count. You can test it yourself. Just look at your completion before destroying a SAM and then check it again after destroying it.

I've found that hijacking a military helicopter or buying the one from your blackmarket dealer and then going and firing at Military Bases, Military Harbors, and Oil Rigs makes your sabotages go up extremely fast. But make sure to take out SAM sites first so they dont shoot you down.

Pretty simple once you unlock the Helicopter from the Black Market. Once you have it unlocked, you can use it but also try to upgrade it all the way every now and then whenever you get vehicle points. Press Down on the D-Pad then Y to access the Black Market then go to vehicles and the Helicopter you want to chose is on the bottom. Now press Back to go to your map. Look for yellow dots (Areas that haven't been discovered) or the Military Base Logo and head to them with your helicopter. Most Military Bases will be guarded with some SAM turrets so take those out first. The best way I have found would be to circle around the base and don't stop moving until they are destroyed, there are usually more than once so look out. Once they fire at you and you dodge their shot, stop then take aim and shoot. Hold LB+RB that way your Machine Gun and Rockets are both firing at the same time to cause the most damage possible. Don't worry too much about your heat. Take out the choppers if they start bothering you, if they shoot you down, just grapple to their helicopter and Hijack it. There will sometimes be a passenger so make sure you have ammo in your secondary weapon (Right on the D-Pad). Shoot the passenger then press Y to Hijack, you will have to mash a couple buttons each time but it's easy don't worry too much about it. Now with all that said, aim for anything you can destroy. Anything with red basically, look at the pictures for Epsilon Theta's guide for better information. I hope this helps anyone who was brave enough to read all the way through my solution. :D Good luck and if there is anything I can do to help you out or make this solution better please let me know through the comments, through message, or a message on Xbox Live. Have fun smile

UPDATE #1: You can check your progress in the statistics menu. Press the Back button then press Right Trigger. Then go down to Statistics and then down again to Sabotages. It shows your progress for everything :)

UPDATE #2: Offshore Rigs usually a loaded with things you can destroy. You can probably get about 15-20 on each one and they're easily to find as they are the only yellow dots in the water. Fly around those a couple times and make sure you get everything, even the Fuel Depots underneath. You don't need to worry about SAM turrets either as there are none. Military Harbors are the 2nd best for getting a lot of sabotages. Just fly around destroying everything, there will be more you can get from the Harbors but it is a lot quicker to do the Offshore Rigs first.

"Small corrections: There are SAM sites on offshore rigs.
If you progress the story even a little bit, you'll get a faction base or two which have random helicopters in them. If it's a military base, you will often see armed copters on the pads. This is preferable to dumping cash on Black Market transportation."

Upvoted anyway, for loads of good advice, thanks!

Destroying certain military objects like Silos, Fuel depots, Broadcast towers, count as sabotaging Panau.

You will get this by working on Agency Missions (Story Missions) and faction missions. If you should run out of missions without having unlocked this achievement, check your map for places you haven't fully completed yet and/or explore for more Panau bases.

Note: In the statistics screen, you can see which buildings/objects count towards a sabotage.

Throughout the game the main objective is to cause chaos & the main way to cause chaos is by blowing things up. The objects you are looking for are government property and the colours that help you identify this property is red & white. Also look for a white star on the objects. There are a different number of ways to sabotage the objects, the easiest and quickest of which involve:

- Shooting them with the fully upgraded assault rifle
- Using C4/grenades
- Other explosive weapons i.e. rocket launchers, AA Guns
- Using any helicopter with a machine gun/rocket launchers. The helicopter is the fastest and most effective, especially as you will have infinite ammo.

This won't come as you progress through the game. You will need to do a lot of side missions & complete locations to get the 1000 sabotages needed, see the Freeroamer 2 trophy for more info. I have a made list of destroyable objects and how many are needed for each:

- Satellite Dishes = 30
- Radars = 75
- Pipelines = 55
- Gas Pumps = 490
- Propaganda Trailers = 100
- Generators = 400
- Transformers = 100
- Wind Turbines = 50
- Baby Panay Statues = 90
- Communication Stations = 75
- Cranes = 40
- Broadcast Towers = 320
- SAMs = 185
- Fuel Depots = 1020
- Fuel Shafts = 15
- Gas Holders = 30
- Offshore Rigs = 11
- Radio Masts = 25
- Factory Chimneys = 50
- Silos = 90
- Mobile Radars = 30
- Water Towers = 221

There are a total of 3500 objects for sabotage in the game, but due to glitches it happens that more certain objects are destroyed, for example there are only 490 gas stations, but in my statistics it says “497/490 destroyed” . One of the objects cannot be destroyed - this is a water tower that does not exist on the map (the developers forgot to add it), because of which it is impossible to complete the game 100%.
