How to unlock the Faction Benefactor achievement in Just Cause 2 - Definitive Guide

Faction items come in three shapes; Skulls, Black Boxes and Drug Drops. There are 100 of each type, 300 in total.

Each item is linked to a faction and will show up automatically on the radar as a small blue dot once the location lies inside faction territory. Expanding the territory by doing faction missions and takeovers seems wise if you do not want to consult an online map.

Drug Drops can be found mostly on and around buildings. Skulls are usually hidden in the jungle (or general wilderness) and at shrines or ancient villages. Black Boxes are usually submerged near the coastline and will require you to dive!

Your progress for each items and the total are tracked and can be consulted in the statistics. You can pick up items even if they are not inside faction territory. It will simply be easier to find them if they show up on the map!

To my knowledge there is no complete map at the time of typing this! If you should come across one, feel free to add them in the comments and I will update this solution while giving due credits!

Just a quick tip but you can pick them up while in a vehicle...no need to get out! (well except for the submerged ones obviously).

Do these items stick around after you complete all seven agency missions or do they disappear like the Strongholds?

They stick around and are not missable in the sense that you cannot get them once you completed the main campaign missions.

For the highest faction item density, head over to Panao City. An easy way to rack up more is to set off in a boat and follow the coastline. Look for the blue dots on the map and radar.

I was wondering wtf "collection location" or collection point or whatever on the map was suppsoed to mean. (I noticed them right as I was quitting last night checking the map. first night of play) I flew around in that super fast jet from the black market and uncovered a ton of locations clearing out all the small ones so my ular boys terrirory is already like half that island and those dots are everywhere. Time to go do some nabbin and grabbin! Thanks for the info serdadu.

I recommend getting the parachute booster add on if you have spare points. It costs around 160 points and will greatly reduce your travelling time.

*edit BloodngunsMrphy has advised me this has now been removed from the marketplace

Also if you're struggling to find some of the item locations on the map (more perhaps towards the end of 300 rather than 150) go onto your icon legend, click hide all and then click collect items. Some are totally hidden by other icons like races etc.

meant you could parachute round indefinitely pretty much. it was finite but would recharge inbetween bursts (similar to the wingsuit boost on JC3)

If you want a good boost of faction items, head to Panu City - Financial District. There are a lot in that area. Coordinates are X: 6076; Y: 13335
I normally buy the smaller helicopter in the Black Market and just pick up faction items one by one. Complete Strongholds to unlock more of the map to find faction items. I finished all 9 Strongholds before attempting this. They are little blue dots on your map, if it helps you can press LT while in the map and then select, "Hide All" then select, "Collects" to find them easier. You will have to do this each time you exit and re-enter the map. There are 3 types of Faction Items. Drug Drops, Skulls, and Black Boxes. Good luck it takes a while :)

The most time consuming achievement out there, along with "Trying everything once".
Faction items are marked on the map screen through a green dot. While this makes it seem easy to acquire, the traveling and getting to the exact location won't be. Prepare for a long journey to collect this achievement!

Each of the 3 factions have special items to be collected as you progress through the game. As you complete more missions for each of the factions more items will be revealed on your map. Open your PDA and look for the small blue icons that seem to glow a little bit, these are the faction items. See below for more info:

The Reapers – 100 Black Boxes Of Contraband. These seem to be located more near the water's edge of the island, some are even in the middle of the ocean.

The Roaches – 100 Drug Drops In Suitcases. These are located all around Panau, specifically in the towns.

The Ular Boys – 100 Ancestral Skulls. These are mostly located in isolated areas, such as the big deserts or high up in the mountains.

When you get close to an item a grey arrow like the one for the resource items will appear on screen to point you in the right direction. You can also spot these just like the resource items, from far away or high up look for a small shine because it could be one of these. Just collect 150/300, it doesn’t matter how many you get for each faction just as long as you total 150.

There are 300 of them in the game, 100 for each group. They are marked on the map as blue dots.

Roaches gang - cases with drugs randomly on the map.

gang Ular Boys - skulls usually mountains or foothills

Reapers gang - black boxes are always under water.

Important!!! Each gang has influence zones (Border of red, green or blue), so items are opened only within this zone. Therefore, it makes sense to work on the trophy after capturing all the fortresses, so as not to wanker around the map cursing everyone and everything.
