Just Cause 2

Mission 4 is a longer, multi-stage affair with multiple objectives. **Major Mission Spoilers Ahead!!!** This guide covers Normal difficulty. Adjust your play accordingly for higher levels.




At the start of the mission you'll be given a full load of ammo and an Agency Attack Helicopter. Be sure you also have a full load of grenades and explosives. You'll need to fly a few kilometers to the marked location. This is a large military controlled base, with a strong ground and air defence. Shortly after you arrive in the airspace you'll be fired upon by multiple AA launch sites. Return fire, and bail once your helicopter has taken too much damage.

Your contact will advise you to "cause as much chaos as possible". This is actually innacurate, as wildly destroying the numerous targets available will get you nowhere. In fact, I'd advise against it, as this will raise your Heat level and bring more enemies.

The real targets are four generators, laid out at progressively higher altitudes, and marked with objective markers. The generators are in hardened, non-destructable buildings, so you're going to need to go in on foot to destroy them. Each generator will take a few explosive charges to destroy. Once it's been sufficiently damaged, it will break down and explode a few seconds later. Be sure to be gone by that time.

Once you destroy a generator, try and lay low so your heat level cools off. You're going to be constantly under fire, so there's no need to draw in more opponenets. Move quickly with the grappling hook, fighting only when you need to.

Be advised that each generator is protected by both normal and elite troops, as well as a unique, powerful defence for each. Assuming you start at the bottom and work your way up (as I'd recommend) you'll encounter the following:

#1. Two minigun turrets
#2. Snipers in towers
#3. Rocket launcher troops (there are two, though your contact tells you there's one)
#4. Turreted vehicle

If you're unprepared any of these defences can kill you in moments, so take your time and avoid conflict as much as possible. You don't get a mid-mission checkpoint until the last generator is down, so don't be reckless.

Once the generator is down you'll be directed to a new checkpoint. Once you get close you'll be ambushed by three ninjas. (Yes, ninjas!)

The ninjas are very tough, and will attack you with small arms fire. They will disappear and reappear constantly, and can quickly wear you down if you're not careful. Move quickly, and use cover as best as you can. A nearby box of ammo and health pack can be found to the left of the entrance if needed.

I'd recommend using weapons which do a single burst of heavy damage. Shotgun, sawed-off, rocket launcher, or cooked grenades all seem to be pretty effective.

Once the ninjas are down, you'll be given your final objective. You need to hijack a car from a convoy speeding across a frozen lake (and avoid a submarine-launched missle barrage!). Quickly use your grappling hook and parachute to escape the missle barrage, and then dive towards the escaping car. You'll need to be quick, as you need to hijack the car before it reaches safety.

Grapple to the car, and shoot off any passengers. They are dressed as ninjas, but they are MUCH weaker than the three you just fought. Press "Y" to hijack once the passengers are dead, and complete the minigame to secure the car. Once you've done so, you'll be treated to a cutscene and this well-earned achievement.
