How to unlock the Hard Carbon achievement in Karaoke Revolution - Definitive Guide

You can use this video I made to have your computer speakers sing the song Ben (short mode) on expert. Make sure to play the audio a tiny bit early because this game tends to be unforgiving on the front end of the phrases.

The video is a screen cap of me using this audio to 100% the song (a little confusing). If you want to cut straight to the audio, it's at about 43 seconds.

Thank you! This achievement was truly BS. I could not stand to see another 98% or 99% on And I Ran So Far Away. Your video worked great. Thanks again!

After a few 99s I got it! Excellent work man! I paused the video arpund the 32 second mark when the song title fades and when it would fade in-game I would unpause the YouTube clip. Made it very easy to sync.

Still a perfect guide, 9 years later.

And +1 to the comment about syncing based on when the song title fades... got it my second try doing it that away after several failed attempts trying to sync when the singing starts

Ok, first of all, this has to be done on expert. Second, it can be done or short or full.

Pick Short.

You can either do a song you know very well, or pick one with a lot of the same pitches or lots of constant long pitches. I did this on my first try on "Sex on Fire" by Kings of Leon. Having sung it in Rock Band, hitting the pitches weren't hard. If you don't get it the first time, just keep at it. You'll know you get it when you reach the score screen and the middle icon with the percentage is a giant silver 100. The status messages you get when completing phrases are random, so I cannot say exactly what messages you need to get to obtain this. If you have any other questions regarding this achievement, don't hesitate to ask!

I have gotten all blue ratings (Excellent, Awesome, Perfect Pitch, etc.) on the short version of I Ran, but only got 98%. Does it also have to do with hitting the the very first part of every line exactly on pitch? If not, I have no idea why I can't get 100%. Any help would be great.

Aegico - Yes, you need to hit the beginning of each note pitch spot on. Try singing the pitch a second or two before and you should be able to get it.

Do you recommend any other songs for this achievement?

mossfan563 - any songs that are short on Short would work, as well as any songs with more longer held notes. I'd recommend:

Feels Like Tonight by Daughtry
Sex on Fire by Kings of Leon
Crazy by Seal
Ben by Michael Jackson

I just got this on "Space Oddity", for what it's worth. (Short, not full, because I don't hate myself THAT much. Though it still took half-a-dozen play-throughs. Hard achievement is hard.) Really, what song to pick comes down to a short roster of questions, in order of importance:

1. Is the song "game friendly"? Songs with long held notes where you can get on pitch early are great; songs with weird staccato sections of short pitches are balls-hard deal-breakers.
2. Do you know the song inside and out, presumably from having heard it a ton of times? "I pretty much know it" works great on easier levels, but won't really cut it here.
3. Is the song in your range, where you can reliably hit all the notes without resorting to crazy vocal antics? (There are plenty of songs where sure, I KNOW them well, but that doesn't mean that I can SING them well.)

Any song that meets those criteria is probably a solid choice for you. (2) is the easiest shortcoming to fix: if you're a good singer, but you're unfamiliar with "Ben" or whatever, listening to it a dozen times in a row will probably get it locked down in your mind. (1) is the most important concept to respect: if the song has short little pitches and jumps around all over the place, even if you are god's gift to singing, attempts to get 100% Expert there will likely end in tears.

This will help you if your wanting to do this leget. Other wise I would use xs Silence sx guide.
I was doing great on it and only getting 99.6 %. Then I took the game over to Billtvshow's house. Some of you may know him from the Rock Band leaderboards. He found that you have to be spot on a the start of every note. Trick is to have the note started before it gets there. Maybe change the lag on the tv will help. I'm not sure of the sitting he used. Hope this helps.

Without a doubt this is the hardest trophy in the game.

I strongly suggest you run thru career mode first, and follow the guide for "Face the Music" trophy first to get your feet wet.

You need to get the 100% accuracy award while singing on the hardest difficulty setting, Expert.

Pay VERY close attention to the bar on the bottom quarter of the game screen. As bars scroll from right to left, you need to match the pitch precisely, so that each and every bar has a green arrow for the entire song. The way the arrow works is:
> = Perfect pitch, this is what you need
> = Close, you need to marginally shift the pitch to be precise.
> = Off, you need to adjust your pitch somewhat.
> = Way off, you will need to adjust your pitch dramatically.
> = No lyrics, doesn't matter; feel free to test your pitch during the gaps.
If the arrow is anything but green, it will also show the way you need to adjust; if the arrow is below the bar tilted up then you are singing low and need to sing at a higher pitch, while if the arrow is above the bar tilted south then you are singing at a higher pitch and should reduce your pitch to match the note.

Every nanosecond with the bar yellow, orange or red, reduces your %. You will need to have the bar green for 99.6% (or more) of the track's bars to round off to 100%

Each track is obviously very different, and while you have certain songs you prefer, they might not be the best choice for this particular trophy. For this trophy, the better ones have mostly straight pitch/bars. To make sure this is understood, "Just Dance" has the pitch jumping up and down consistently, while "I Melt With You" has most of the song in a straight pitch with only a few tricky parts. While I never sang "I Melt With You" before this game, I strongly suggest it for this trophy. The pattern for this song is rather quick to catch, finding where to shift your pitch slightly up or down for a single word. The trickiest part is matching the bar for the word "Melt" (which you hit twice during the short version of the song). It is still tough as nails, but simpler than any other track for us. (Also note that if you are playing the EU disc, there might be an easier track we don't have.) It takes VETERAN singers over 50 tries to hit 100%, and if you currently aren't able to match the pitch exactly, you will need to bring up your singing skills to expert levels.

Keep practicing the track you are best at in Short mode till you get this. While repeating over and over you will begin to pick up the pattern where you tend to be off, fix that and you will see the difference and it's getting better all the time.

NOTE: When you complete this, you will also for sure unlock all the trophies referencing this. You will also unlock a bunch of other trophies, in addition to racking up many platinum and sensational scores.
