How to unlock the Tomb Raider achievement in Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light - Definitive Guide

Here's a link to as complete of a guide that I can find, and includes embedded videos to get you through most of the tricky spots. Note: all credit goes to the author of that post, Tyger7.

P.S. MysticWeirdo reports in the comments (and I can confirm) that you do not need to get the health or ammo upgrades for this achievement.

You don't need to worry about the health and ammo upgrades they're not required for the achievement.

^ I am missing a Clay Feather for defeating Legion, Queen of Spiders, yet I have a tick to say that I have beaten it. When I go back and beat it, I don't get the artefact. Yep, seriously bugged.

Tyger's descriptions are terrible sometimes. Much better to use a guide with video or screenshots.

Went on Co-op and di the level and it unlocked my Clay Feather. Very strange. Oh well, just one weapon to get and then I've done this. :)

Did this achievement glitch for anyone else? I have literally everything unlocked, no locks in artifacts, relics or weapons. I have checked every level and I don't have a single objective left. I restarted the game and it still didn't pop, completed a level, still didn't pop. Any ideas?

Can you get this achievement in co-op?

So is this a particularly difficult achievement to do? Seems like the only hard parts are the speedruns and maybe a few score runs.

The guide mentioned in the Post seems now to be completed by its author.

+1 for providing the link. It made getting the items I didn't get on my initial playthrough much easier. Maybe I've just gotten used to deciphering terrible descriptions (directions?) over the years, but I didn't have any problems following his guide. I wish I could give Tyger7 a +1, because that's one hell of a guide. toast

Here I leave a video-guide with all the collectibles and challenges of this game. In the description below there is a timeline with every thing you can do or pick up by order of appearence. At the beggining of the video I speak in Spanish but it's just and introduction and I don't say anything relevant. Every thing in the video and in the timeline is marked in English as well as in Spanish.

Here I leave a playlist of the game and you'll find also all the video below.

If anyone make a negative vote please tell me why, so I can improve my future videos.
Greets.

In addition to all video guides here, there is an easy way to fulfill for each level the target score.

Just play the level and when you are hit, just presst start & quit. then press start & continue.

You will go to the last checkpoint. The point is that the game will also remind the level of your
extra bar.

By doing this, you can mangae to keep the extra bar full for the entire level & earn bonus points for each kill.

Getting the necessary score becomes then a piece of cake.

Also, for the time attack challenges, doing this in coop is much more easier than doing this alone.

And as karlgschaefer points out, this tip also works for time trials, wiping out all the time up to the point you died.

Both of these solutions took the frustration out of getting an achievement that I couldn’t get back in 2011.

A quick tip for speed runs: if you die, simply exit the game and then restart and continue. This will save you ~15 seconds over simply going on without reloading.

zsoltee53 reports that this tip will also save you ~5,000-10,000 points during score challenges.

Just to add a few tips on other solutions :

The best way to be quick is to avoid enemies but sometimes you just can't. So, you have to be quick to kill them. Best weapons to achieve this are :
- Rocket launcher : Use it to remove shields or kill later golem enemies (throwing lava balls) or against T-Rex.
- Golden shotgun : Kill everything in max 2 shots.

Rocket launcher is awarded during gameplay in the level Belly of the Beast and golden shotgun is awarded when you score 240 000 points in the level "Stronghold passage".

So I suggest to do as I did :
- Do a normal playthrough without worrying about scores and challenges. Just enjoy the game wink
- When you have finished, redo the Stronghold passage, taking your time. Just do the 240 000 points. It's really easy if you take your time. I achieve this after killing the 3rd key keeper and I have been hit a lot in the process. It's easily doable smile
- With these two weapons, you can redo every level twice : once for doing score and challenges and the last one to do the time trial challenge.

I did like that except I didn't have the golden shotgun. Despite that, using chain gun or normal shotgun, I did every time trial with no need to retry. With golden shotgun it will be a piece of cake smile

Having a relic resupplying ammo is a good idea. But it's not mandatory

As the trophy description says, you need to collect all Relics, Artifacts and Weapons scattered throughout every level. Each level will have a list of Score Challenges and Rewards Challenges that you need to complete to unlock relics, artifacts and weapons. To see a list of challenges and rewards, press ingame. Press or while on that same list to open up your inventory menu to equip/observe your collection of items. Artifacts and relics will give different stat boosts whereas each weapon will have their own stats and usefulness. See HERE for collectible videos thanks to Tyger7/Achievaholics from X360a, and a step by step level walkthrough HERE.

Note: Health/Ammo Powerups are not needed for this trophy. You can replay any level and redo only the challenges you missed, the game keeps track and saves all your progress with each challenge so you don't need to redo those you've successfully completed.

Score Challenge/Relic Meter:
Each level will have 3 Score Ranks, and achieving the highest Score Rank will unlock one of the weapons that you need to collect. Below your health bar/ammo, you will notice a gauge starts to fill as you defeat more enemies and collect gems. This is the Relic Meter. Here's how it works:

• Gems awards 1200 points and increases your Relic Meter
• Killing enemies without getting hit increases your Relic Meter
• When Relic Meter is 50% full, your points are Doubled
• When Relic Meter is 100% full, your points are Tripled
• Getting hit by traps or enemies empties your Relic Meter
• Dying subtracts 5000 points and empties your Relic Meter
• Enter Challenge Tombs (see sub-section below) even if you've completed them previously to encounter more enemies and gems that you can collect for more points.

Note: Getting 100% Full Relic Meter also bestows you with abilities like Health Regen, Ammo Regen, Spread Shots, Increased Attack Power/Speed and so on, depending on which artifacts you have equipped, which makes alot of other challenges much easier to deal with.

As you can see, not getting hit and not dying are crucial towards achieving high scores. The one particular level that is hard is Level 12: Stronghold Passage. There is a very limited number of enemies in this level and you can only afford to lose your relic meter once. Achieving the highest score rank the first time will unlock Breadwinner.

Rewards Challenges:
Rewards are given for completing various challenges available in each level and are separated into 2 types

Task Challenges:
• Each level has 10 Red Skulls, collect all of them for 1 item. Completing this task the first time will unlock Seeing Red trophy.
• Each level will also have a variety of 3-4 tasks like rolling a boulder onto a pedestal, destroy some objects etc... complete each task for an item. Overachiever will unlock for completing your first task.

Timed Challenges:
• Each level also has ONE timed challenge where you will need to complete a section of the level or the whole level within a specific time limit
• Keep Rolling using to move faster
• Avoid enemies/paths you don't need to fight to progress. Completing the score challenges and other reward challenges above should have given you a pretty good idea of what to do in each level.

Artifacts:
Throughout each level you will find Challenge Tombs (they have glowing red skulls beside the entrance) that you can enter. These Tombs normally contain Powerups or Artifacts. Some artifacts may also appear on the normal level map areas but hidden away. Please see the video collectible guide for locations.
