How to unlock the Sketchbook of the damned achievement in Layers of Fear (2016) - Definitive Guide

MISSABLE ACHIEVEMENT

After finally seeing all three endings, I can confirm that you can only get this if you received the following ending:



SPOILERS AHEAD

This is achieved at the very end of the game.

After finishing the checkers room, you will add your final thing to the painting. After a brief "moment" you will end up being back in your normal house upstairs. Simply read the book on the floor on the landing. This book location can be seen below:

For anyone who missed it on their first neutral ending run:

If you finished for example the wife/child ending on your last playthrough you can just reload chapter 5 and play as if you were trying to get the selfish ending meaning: running after rats, looking at the pictures on the walls, looking in the mirror and especially avoiding your wife and items related to her.

Im sure it would work the other way around too if your last playthrough was the selfish one just try to let your wife kill you, pick up all of her items and push her wheelchair.

This should get you the neutral / wife ending without having to play through the entire game again.

You are correct. I just achieved the second ending and was not able to get the book. Will update when I've seen the final ending.

Yes, I got the ending of the painter himself. The cutscene just kept going; I could see the Sketchbook in one scene but could do nothing about it. The painter simply walked past it and the game didn't allow me to pick it up.

Did you get to the credits after seeing this ending? There's a short epilogue upon receiving this ending.

I figured it out, its coz I didn't start a new painting afterwards by getting the key and everything, so after I did that I got the credits and sorted it :)

Can confirm that it works the other way around too. I got the selfish ending on my first collectable run, then started from the beginning and got wife/child, then replayed from chapter 5 onward and picked the selfish choices and ended up with wife. 1000G, thanks for the guides.

Guess they changed a lot of things.

I just tried a couple of times to go from chapter 5 after the wife/child and even going for the selfish route I get the wife and child.

I'll have to re-run the wife ending from C1 I guess

So iv got the wife ending and finished the game but after the credits I’m back at the main menu? What am I doing wrong

Ive done this ending and the self portrait one, but my progress to getting all three endings hasn't gone to 66%, its still on 33%? Once you've read that book at the end of this one, what do u actually do then?
