LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4

Here's a helpful hint for those that struggle beating the Basilisk like I did.

Stand in front of the stones and wait for the basilisk to stop using the laser like beams from his eyes. Move and the basilisk will smash into the stones. Do this three times. Once you have collected all of the pieces for the strength potion, use it and open the gate and the phoenix will fly in and blind the basilisk and drop the sorting hat on top of the stone face in the backdrop.

Attack the basilisk with wand strikes until he drops into the water. Move to the pipe to the left where you opened the gate. Use Wingardium Leviouso to attach the chains to both sides of the pipe and then pull them both at the same time to drop the platform for you to jump through.

You will reappear on the platform at the rear of where the basilisk was and he will be waiting on the upper right side of the screen. You must use Wingardium Leviouso on the sorting hat to get the Griffindor Sword to drop. You then need to hide in the cubby hole and use the sword to attack the basilisk for the final blow.
