Oof. Damn you, developers. I don't WANT the poor girl to be negative about her gran's ordeal, and then you go and tie an achievement to it.

Agree with the above ... I avoided the black intentionally ... and then there's a stupid achievement associated with it. Boo.

There are a total of seven black asterisks to collect, all of which are in diary sections. Thankfully, they are only in two: D3 and D6.

In D3, there are three black asterisks to collect:
 
  • The first is found at the end of the spaceship section. There is one to fly into that comes across the screen slowly.
  • The second and third are both found while falling, and are the easiest ones to miss in the game. While falling toward the end of the diary section, blue asterisks will appear on the right side and black ones on the left. Just stick to the left page (no penalty for missing blue asterisks) to ensure you grab the two black ones that pop up.
In D6, there are four black asterisks to collect:
 
  • All four are found on the power lines that you'll be forced to run across during a horizontal scrolling section. It is virtually impossible to miss these since they all scroll right toward you.
