How to unlock the Millionaire achievement in Mafia II: Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide
BAD NEWS EVERYONE! THIS GAME'S WORST ACHIEVEMENTS HAS RETURNED!
But thankfully the glitch is still working, but it's sitll gonna take ages though...
IMPORTANT EDIT: No you can't save your progress while doing the glitch so you have to wait until it reach 1000000 points in one sitting sorry for the mistake. Unfortunately this game likes to freeze sometimes and can ruin everything so you'll have to pause sometimes to avoid it like i did with the Hard to Kill achievement after I had to restart twice because of freezing issues.

Does this score need to be done in one mission or overall missions I finished the game with 600k+ points but my free roam score is 30k+ can I just keep replaying story missions until I hit 1mill

There is a glitch which allows you to free fall and continuously earn jump points. There is a single location in the south west of the map, where you drive into a store, getting you out of bounds the map.You can reach 1 million in about 3 4 hours granting you the trophy
I personally found it much easier to tackle scores in missions rather than working on the bonus score in free roam.
Without using the luncheonette glitch, it took me less than 4 hours to get my score to 1 million by replaying missions and getting higher scores.
By the time I beat the DLC on medium, I had somewhere around 900,000 points for missions. I went back to the first few missions and did them quicker, drove faster and drifted around corners, tried taking headshot kills where I could and the score would improve. Combat-heavy missions are the best bet for improving your scores, and perhaps vehicle theft missions too.
I went from 933,000 points to just shy over 1 million doing it this way.
You don't need to follow this guide, but it's a suggestion if you don't want to spent 4 hours doing the glitch for 1 million.
IMPORTANT NOTE
When replaying missions, you have to make sure your score is higher than when you first played the mission or else it won't add up to your total score. I don't think the game keeps track of your seperate mission scores, so keep note of your score on the map menu and see if it increases after doing a mission.

If you want to obtain it without exploits, you need to perform excellent mission scores and exceed the previously established score to acquire points. You must, for example, keep your multiplier by chaining deaths and vehicle explosions and complete the mission in record time. The other, simpler method is to use the exploit explained in Explorer . Thus, in free fall, you will accumulate the required million points in 4 hours.
You can follow your progress by going: Options => Statistics => History score.

You will need to get 1,000,000 points to unlock this achievement. There are two different types of points in the game: mission score and city score. This achievement does NOT unlock when you're combined score is 1,000,000 points. You must get EITHER your mission score or city score to 1,000,000 points.
To get your mission score to 1,000.000 points, the only practical way is to play through the entire DLC on Hard, which increases the score you get per mission. On top of that, you'll need to get lots of headshots and blow up lots of vehicles during each mission to raise your score per mission. This is the much more challenging and stressful option. For tips refer to this thread on the forums. Note: If you are replaying missions to increase your score, only the difference will be added (e.g. your old score was 10,000, your new score is 12,000 you will get 2,000 added to your score).
Increasing your city score to 1,000,000 is far easier and less stressful if you simply make use of the glitch described in Explorer (10G). Once you get in the glitch, you'll continually get tons of points for jumps. Starting from zero city score, it will take around 4 straight hours of idling in the glitch spot to unlock this achievement. Unfortunately, there is no way to save your city score, so if you get to 999,999 city score and then turn off your console, you'll need to do it all over again. If you're good with idling for 4 straight hours in order to get Explorer (10G) anyway, this achievement will come naturally while working on that one.
