How to unlock the One Careful Owner achievement in Mafia II: Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide

SOLUTION BY Barad 007:
Mafia IIOne Careful OwnerThe One Careful Owner achievement in Mafia II worth 28 pointsTravel a total of 50 miles in one vehicle.

This achievement is very simple and doesn't take long at all (maximum 1 hour)

The fastest way I found to do this is to firstly, pick a car of your choice, preferably a fast one (I chose the Roller GL), and then just drive up and back down the Brooklyn Bridge!

You'll have to go up and down the bridge 30 times each for 50 miles.

I done this on chapter 11 while having Henry in my car, it doesn’t matter when you do it but there are no interruptions in this chapter.

If you are close to wrecking you car by crashing a few times, there is a garage on the right side of the Bridge very close, just repair it there.

You can use speed limiter if you like to be on the safe side of your driving..but who wants to be safe in a video game eh? plus it will nearly take double the time to get your 50 miles, just make sure to brake early when approaching the end of each side of the bridge.

Another way of helping you get this achievement, is if you're going for all 'The Wanted' posters just use one car and it will boost the miles right up!
Managed to get mine at the end of Chapter 5 using the Roller GL300

I used a car to get the first 15 wanted posters and saved my game. Quit to the main menu and when I loaded it back up the car was at 0 miles according to the stats page in my garage when selecting it.

Do you need to finish the mission or get a checkpoint to make it count or is it just easier to do it all in one go?

I found that out the hard way too. It only seems to save when you hit a checkpoint or complete a mission. If you quit mid mission and come back, it will not have saved your progress. So if you guys are going for this, do it in one run, or make sure to hit a checkpoint or finish a mission to have it save to your total.

You used to be able to save progress by changing an A/V setting on the 360 version, I don't know if this method still works.

Thanks. Worked a treat. Much easier than rubber banding it and leaving it overnight more than once like I did in 2010.

For those who are concerned, you can leave the vehicle to repair the hood and then continue. I believe that the achievement is tied to the vehicle you are driving. I ended up crashing close to 50 miles and breaking down, so I fixed my vehicle and continued anyways. The achievement still popped up a few minutes later. 🙂

The fact that I unlocked the 360 version’s before the Xbox ones and have to go around the bridge 30 times annoyingly again

Lmao not sure why people don't just unlock this naturally, super easy.

I just used one car (the first one you lockpick in the beginning), the entire game, and upgraded it completely when I had the money. It's actually a very decent car.

By the end of the game, I used the bridge once (back & forth), and the achievement popped as I was driving back to Joe's to check how many miles I had on it.

Not sure why so many people think you have to drive 50 miles all at once.

Spoiler: You don't.

It is recommended to do this in chapter 15 "Per Aspera Ad Astra".

You will have to accumulate the kilometers with one and the same vehicle. You are free to choose the car you want for this trophy. Just make sure to "save" your vehicle by bringing it to your garage to keep it throughout the various chapters. You can find out the number of kilometers by going to your garage and selecting the car. A vehicle profile is displayed to its right with, among other information, the distance traveled with.

I recommend you to reload the last chapter "Per Aspera Ad Astra" and to roll until obtaining the requested quota while leading the hunt for collectibles like the posters for Card Sharp trophy_silver.png, just to give you a goal. Note: If you reload in a previous chapter, the distance traveled by your vehicle will not take into account what you have played after that chapter.

This has to be one single vehicle that you have used. If you put it into your garage, it's okay if you leave it somewhere during a mission. You can go respawn it at a garage. This car though cannot blow up or run out of gas, or you will have to start all over again. It's best to work on this right from the start of the game, because you'll be continually using the same vehicle for the first five chapters. Not only that, but this also allows you to use the Game Statistics menu to track how many miles you've driven with that car (assuming it's still early enough in the game that you haven't driven much with any other vehicles). The quickest way to grind out mileage is to head to the big bridge in the west central part of the map and drive back and forth across it.
