How to unlock the We're in This Together achievement in Mafia III: Definitive Edition - Definitive Guide

Note: This is a missable achievement. If you are planning on getting all achievements, you will require a minimum of two playthroughs each with a different strategy. One strategy would keep all underbosses alive (required for this achievement), flip all racket bosses, and recruit 15 informants. The second strategy would keep only one underboss alive (causing you to miss this achievement), kill all racket bosses, and kill 15 informants.

To get this achievement, you must keep Cassandra, Vito, and Burke allied with you. You do this by splitting the18 rackets and 9 districts equally between these three underbosses. Plan in advance. Decide who is to get what district and assign the rackets in that district to the underboss who is to get the district.

Assigning a racket to one underboss and, later, the district it is in to another results in the first underboss losing the racket and the second underboss gaining it. The first underboss reacts with great animosity that could jeopardize the alliance you are trying to maintain for the achievement.

Story progression assigns Delray Hollow to Cassandra, River Row to Vito, and Pointe Verdun to Burke. The rackets in these districts are also assigned by story progression to the underboss of the district. The player is able to choose to whom to assign the twelve remaining rackets and six remaining districts. Since the underbosses have more affinity to certain districts than others, it is best to make the racket and district assignments as follows:

(Format: Racket & Racket->District)
--Cassandra: Garbage & Guns->Barclay Mills, Southern Union & PCP->Frisco Fields
--Vito: Construction & Blackmail->Downtown, Sex & Drugs->French Ward
--Burke: Auto Theft & Smuggling->Tickfaw Harbor, Gambling & Black Market->Southdowns

If all 18 rackets and 9 districts are assigned equitably, the achievement will unlock immediately following the sitdown where the ninth district is assigned. The below video shows the achievement unlocking as Lincoln walks outside following the sitdown where he assigned the ninth district:

Note: This achievement and the one below are mutually exclusive and must be obtained in separate playthroughs:

@CndnViking - Never too late—happy to answer.

This is very speculative especially since Mafia III achievements|trophies are buggy in all platforms so it’s hard to determine if variations are intentional or the result of a glitch.

This & the Family achievement are connected. The game tracks the loyalty each underboss has towards Lincoln. When Lincoln assigns a racket or district to one underboss, the receiver’s loyalty increases & that of the other two decreases. The degree of the increase or decrease is reflected in the dialog.

For example: Cassandra has an affinity towards Garbage. She will be very appreciative if it’s assigned to her & her response is very enthusiastic. If Garbage is assigned to Vito or Burke, the recipient will thank Lincoln but show less enthusiasm in the response. Cassandra will object strenuously if Garbage is assigned to Vito or Burke—much more so than if say Blackmail is assigned to one of the other underbosses. In other words, an underboss gets angrier when denied an ‘affinity’ racket or district in comparison to a ‘non-affinity’ one & is more likely to defect.

If you play it safe—dividing the rackets & districts equally among the underbosses in a round robin manner—it’s not an issue. However, because of underboss perks, players may want to assign 4 districts to one underboss & 2 to another. This should be doable so long as most of the assignments are made in accordance with underboss affinities. If affinities are ignored, a 4-3-2 district split may cause an underboss to defect & void this & the Family achievements.

I'm half way through and this thread will help me guide the test of the way. Glad I jumped on to look. Great guide and info.

I thought I'd add that it likely doesn't matter if/when you switch underbosses between the rackets and the districts they belong to.

At the beginning of the game I didn't know what I was doing and was assigning rackets all willy nilly and making all of the underbosses "angry" nearly every time. I ended up assigning the rackets in the second-to-last district to Cassandra but gave the district to Burke and assigned the last district's rackets to Vito to get the $10k kickback but gave the district to Cassandra and everyone was pleased at the end.

What may be important is the difference between lieutenant and capo districts because the earn per racket is higher in capo districts. Southdowns, French Ward, and Frisco Fields are capo districts with 70k per racket while Barclay Mills, Downtown, and Tickfaw Harbor are lieutenant districts with 60k per racket. I gave all three underbosses one lieutenant and one capo district.

Agreed. The most important thing is that the distribution be equitable. It is also logical that if one goes for this achievement, one would also want to go for the Family achievement and get max loyalty from all three. I noted that CreativeXBL, in his Family guide, said he gave four districts to Vito, three to Cassandra, and only two to Burke. He was, nonetheless, able to get max loyalty from all three and, if you get max loyalty, they don't defect and stay alive so you get this achievement as well.

I played the game on the PC and PS4 as well. I made different assignments in each game. The underbosses commented differently depending on what second district they were assigned. The most positive comments were in the scenario I outlined above which is why I recommend it. However, since there is a lot of wiggle room (demonstrated by the fact that an underboss needs only two districts and completion of the underboss and lieutenant side missions), it is more for the purpose of story than game play.

I think Cassandra is a defender of her people and wants the Southern Union District. Burke is into autos and wants the auto theft district. So, you get some nuances in the dialog when you make these assignments. However, I agree with you. For the achievement, you just need to assign at least two districts of any area to an underboss and do the side missions.

Thank you so much for this! I found this achievement somewhat confusing with the rackets/districts, and you simplified it for me. Really appreciate you putting this together! clap

My pleasure. Thanks for the feedback. I'm still trying to get the hang out of making good videos and know I need to get a better mike but, with all the Mafia III achievement glitches, I think people are interested when the achievement is supposed to pop.

The comment to the previous question asker is very helpful. So a 4-3-2 distribution is viable if the affinities are kept in play? I've already had several glitched achievements including a storyline one in Stones Unturned that I was not expecting, so it's already killed my desire for completing this but I would prefer only one extra playthrough (assuming flipping the bosses doesn't get voided from the two crashes I've had.). If I ever come back to it. +1

Edit: Additionally I plan on doing all of the optional missions and increasing their rackets to max earn.

@Hatred Prophet - a 4-3-2 is definitely viable so long as you do not run egregiously counter to affinities. Good luck.

Ok I know I'm getting to this game WAY late so chances are nobody will respond to this, but I'm wondering what was meant by "the underbosses have more affinity to certain districts than others, it is best to make the racket and district assignments as follows...."

Best why? It doesn't look like one gets more money than another, or like certain territories make them more or less happy with you? What difference does it make?

When you take over a racket, you have to assign it to one of the three underbosses (Cassandra, Vito, or Burke). Try to assign each racket in the same district to the same underboss (there are 2 rackets in each district). When it comes to assign a district, you and the three underbosses will sit down in a house. Assign the district to the person with the highest amount of rackets owned in that district. Assign 3 districts to each underboss to unlock the achievement.

Tip: I rotated between each underboss every time I assigned a district. I assigned it to Cassandra, then Vito, then Burke. Repeat.

Going for the achievement of "Family" will unlock this automatically.
Share all districts equally and do their side queststo keep them happy and they'll survive the game.

This must be done on your first playthrough. In order to keep your underbosses alive, you must distribute the districts equally 3 for each underboss. If you give more districts to one underboss than the other, they will get resent you and they will walk out. You will then have no choice but to kill them.

When you are taking down a district, decide which underboss you are going to assign it to. You will need to assign each racket in the district to that underboss also because assigning rackets to one underboss and then giving the district to another will make them unhappy and could cause them to walk out. Make sure each underboss has 2 districts before you begin giving them a third district.

Distributing it rotationally with your underbosses should work.

However, if you want to distribute the racket according to their affinity you can check them below for suggestions.

(Format: Racket & Racket=District)
Cassandra: Garbage & Guns=Barclay Mills, Southern Union & PCP=Frisco Fields
Vito: Construction & Blackmail=Downtown, Sex & Drugs=French Ward
Burke: Auto Theft & Smuggling=Tickfaw Harbor, Gambling & Black Market=Southdowns

However, using either rotational or using their affinity will still unlock the trophy as long as you distribute the racket evenly. Since some rackets can give you better equipment.

Missable!

This is best done in your “Flip” playthrough. There are 9 districts in the game, and in order to appease your Underbosses and preventing them from turning on you, you’ll need to divide the districts assigned to them equally, which means 3 districts per Underboss, including the starting district they automatically get. Districts are assigned during the “Sit Down” meetings which occur after you’ve conquered each district and eliminated the lieutenant controlling the district. This trophy will unlock after the final “Sit Down” meeting, before going after Sal & Giorgi Marcano in the mission “Yet Here We Are”.
