Majin and the Forsaken Kingdom

B'alam Defeated
"Defeat B'alam"

B'alam is the second boss in the game. He is located in the Great Tree Malawa - Antenna in Malawa Forest. You'll fight him shortly after acquiring the Lighting power for the Majin.

B'alam can be a somewhat confusing boss the first time you fight him. The fight has two separate phases that require similar strategies. My method was as follows:

PHASE 1:
Take the ramp up to the outer ledge of the arena (above ground level). Once you're up there, the first thing you should do is direct the Majin to hit any of the gongs in the corner. This will attract the boss and keep him from bugging you/damaging the Majin. Next, grab the movable electric nodes and place 2-3 between the first generator and the nearby node (that goes to the electric ray gun looking thing on the ceiling). Direct the Majin to hit the gong near the ray gun. When B'alam comes over to attack the gong, have the Majin use "Lightning" on the generator next to you. This will provide power to the generator, which will arc across the nodes you placed and to the ray gun. The ray gun will shoot the boss and he will be stunned briefly. Jump off the ledge and attack his face while he is stunned. Repeat if necessary.

After B'alam has sustained enough damage, he will hit the ray gun, causing it to fall and pierce his back (smooth move, right?). This causes the battle to progress into the next phase.

PHASE 2:
Start this phase by directing the Majin to hit any gong. The boss should move to the gong and attack it with a series of punches. After his last big haymaker-style punch, he will be tired/incapacitated for a few seconds and the ray gun piece in his back will flash red. Direct the Majin to use "Lighting" on the general. He will be badly shocked, which will allow you to attack his chest. Repeat this procedure (ring a gong, shock the gun, hit the chest) until he's finished.

To earn this secret achievement, you must defeat the second of four generals, B'alam. I have to agree with Ronin Prox, this was one heck of a confusing fight and I died the first time. Then I realized an easy strategy and used it to my advantage. Here's how I defeated him.

There are two sections to this boss. Let's start with the first section.

Once the dialogue between your team and B'alam ends, immediately head to the right and to the upper level. Have Majin hit one of the gongs so that B'alam can be distracted, making it so he won't hurt either you or Majin for the time being. Get one or two of the electorical nodes and place them in the middle of the upper-walkway, right above where the generator is. You have to place them right on those spots, otherwise this next part will not work. Once you placed them on the right spots successfully, command Majin to hit the gong on the upper-right corner. B'alam should hear the sound and approach it. As he makes his way there, have Majin follow you until he is near the electrical generator and then make him stop. Right as B'alam is about to hit the gong, immediately have Majin use lightning on that generator. If you followed all this correctly, B'alam should be shocked and be down for a short time. Immediately jump down and start hitting him with your staff, one hit at a time. It won't be enough, as he'll rise on his feet again. Quickly run away and instruct the Majin to hit a nearby gong, preferably one that is away from you both. He'll make his way towards that sound, so have the Majin hit the upper-right gong one more time, then make him wait nearby the electrical generator as B'alam makes his way back to that gong. Right as he is about to throw his punches, immediately command the Majin to execute his lightning ability. Once again, if done correctly, he'll go down yet again. Head to the bottom and start striking at his head a bit more until he's had enough. The ray gun above him should stick to his back and he'll get really angry. Good job, you completed the first part of this boss fight, now for the second!

The second half is him trying to get in your face and hit you with his punches and haymakers. Eventually, he will get tired out and he'll keel over, obviously in pain. If you do not have enough magic power at this point, strike at either his chest or forearms and you'll get some magic power back, hopefully enough to use on him twice! Once you have enough magic power, go ahead and have the Majin execute lightning on the ray gun. He'll get zapped by it big time and fall down. This is your best chance to strike with your melee weapon for a bit until he gets back up. Once again, he'll be attacking, so just stay out of his reach and try not to get hit as much. Once he's wiped out, use the Lightning one more time on the ray gun. It should zap him enough to the point of where he'll fall, so now is the perfect opportunity to strike with your melee weapon. Keep on hitting his head until he stands up and reels back in tremendous pain. Once you go through this exercise twice, the game should prompt you to hit the B button. When that appears, go ahead and hit B and the fight the should end!
