How to unlock the Hawkeye achievement in Major League Baseball 2K10 - Definitive Guide

Actually I had little problem getting this achievement, despite what my initial thoughts were. Start up your game and choose "play ball" by using the right stick. Although it really doesn't matter what teams you choose, you're going to want to be the away team so that you bat first. I made my opposition the Pirates since they are statistically the worst team.

Put your controller down and see what kind of pitches you get called. Wait until you have three balls. Once this happens if you have something like 3-0, you need to grab yourself two strikes. Simply swing very early when the pitcher releases the ball, netting yourself a strike. Same goes for a count of 3-1. Once you have a full count just put down your controller and hope the 4th pitch is a walk.

If you fail you can press start and go up to quit - rematch. I got this on seriously my 2nd try - the game is much more walk friendly than the others.

Cheers
Steve

This achievement wasn't too bad. The only thing I can add to this is to learn patience. When you get yourself in a full count make sure you pay attention to breaking pitches. They'll look good at first but most of the time, they will end up outside of the strike zone.

Should I feel bad about earning this one just through normal season play?

Dont forget about defensive swings too. If you find that you already have two strikes and an incoming pitch looks close, use the right thumbstick to the left or right quickly to swat the ball away.

Sometimes it has the annoying habit of making enough contact for a gork, a Texas leaguer, or a ground ball with eyes that results in a hit, but these things do happen.

To add to what Steve suggests above, consider doing a Quick Play game as the National League All-Stars at the Pittsburgh Pirates. Edit your lineup and put Albert Pujols as the lead-off hitter, so you will have some advanced warning of the incoming pitch type and location (Pujols has one of the best Eye ratings around). Defend the plate, lay off the garbage pitches outside the zone, and get your full count. Then its a matter of playing defense until the pitcher loses control of one.
