How to unlock the King of the Hill achievement in Major League Baseball 2K10 - Definitive Guide

After struggling, struggling and struggling I finally got this achievement relatively easily using this strategy. While I can't guarantee success, my results speak for themselves.

First, everyone is saying lower power, etc. and that's true but you need to lower EVERYTHING! Every. Single. Stat. Also, do the "old, fat, short" trick, that is make their birth year 1960, height 5'0" and weight 300 lbs. Then make everything 25 or 0, depending on how low a particular stat could go. I know lowering their speed seems useless, but what it does is lower their OVERALL RATING which seems to help. Make sure they are hitting righty.

After making them weaklings, turn on Classic Controls. I use Total Control while playing games but I DEFINITELY hit better with Classic in this mode. I went from MAYBE 2 HR with TC to 8+ with Classic controls. It may take some getting used to, but keep with it. Make sure your hitter is hitting leftie.

Here is what worked for me using Classic Controls: Move the left stick in the 10 or 11 o'clock position and hold it there while you press A. I never kept the left stick it in EXACTLY the same position, but ROUGHLY the same position. Practice.

Now, play at Fenway Park. The Green Monster makes it harder for a weak righty hitter to hit it out of the park.

Not that it matters, but I used Dan Uggla.

Now, some may dispute lowering every stat to make their overall rating low but I could not beat Adrian Gonzalez to save my life lowering only Contact, Power and Eye. After lowering everything else, I beat him the very next try. I almost feel like making him worse made me better, (i.e. 99 rating Vs. low to mid 30's) though I can't confirm this. May be in my head or may be the Classic Controls. After doing this for everyone following Gonzalez I was able to beat the last 4 opponents after only 2-4 tries a piece.

I tried to literally be as in-depth as possible about how I did this because I know how HARD and FRUSTRATING this can be. Good luck.

I did everything in the guide, except instead of making them fat I made them as skinny as possible. Didn't see the fat part at first, but oh well. I am working on this at this moment now. And just wanted to say, persistence is definatly key here, because I am have noticed that the AI is extremely random. It took me 2 tries against Mark Texiera. In the first matchup he hit 8 homers to my 4 (I was having difficulties). Then in the second matchup I hit 9 homers and he hit 0. REALLY RANDOM, like I said. Also, everyone seems to be having difficulties against Adrian Gonzales, he did seem a bit more difficult than most but he only took me 4 tries, in which everytime he would hit 7-9 homers, except the last where he hit 5, and I hit 8. I was very excited, especially after the first matchup where I had 6 homers and he had 1 in the last round with 9 outs and then jacked 7 in a row. Man that pissed me off. Anyway, thought I'd recount my progress so far. Only 3 more to go, just taking a breather right now. Also, I made everyone a right handed batter except for my guy. I am using CHIPPER JONES btw.

I used your method and also made the wind speed gusty. It was blowing to the right every time and made it much easier to beat the last couple guys.

Yet more proof that this can and probably will work, with enough practice. Good tip on the wind speed, should it work out right.

Beat AGon on my first try. Played at Fenway with gusty winds, and all the sliders down for AI (pretty much ALL the sliders for batting). The score ended up being 1 homer a piece, but I had the greater distance. Phew.

Good stuff Dorkus. This method is the best possible for getting this pain in the ass achievement. No, I'm not just saying that because I wrote it!

Still works fine. I beat the first 12 or so with them all super skinny instead of fat, then Dunn (at all of 47 overall) hit 12 bombs in a row. Thats when i finally decreased every stat possible. The AI seemed to be very random. In the last 5, fielder was the only one i had trouble with. He routinely got 10+ homers and id get 3-5. When i beat both him and Pujols, the tally was 2-1. Just weird. I used fenway with gusty winds for the most part.

Good guide. Got this one playing with Corey Hart at Fenway Park. Thought the Ryan Howard matchup was definately the toughest!

I zeroed everybody down and AGon is still hitting like 10-15. As it goes by 5s, homeruns get more difficult to hit. Gonna try later but it's not easy the last 5 are annoying

Also, someone said a tie = a loss. It does not. If you tie, then, whoever hit the longest ball is the one who wins.

Took me an hour and a half to finally beat Ryan Howard, now Prince Fielder is kicking my butt

Finally got this darn thing. And it only took me 5 hours. lol. I would def say Ryan Howard, and Prince Fielder were the most difficult in my opinion. Once I got to Pujols, it only took me 2 tries. We ended up tieing 3 to 3, but luckily I had the longest Home Run. Now off to work on the fabled "Rob a Home Run" achievo. Good guide btw. thumbs up

Great guide! Only guys I had to do multiple times were Jason Werth, Adrian Gonzales and Prince Fielder. Everyone else I beat first try. Only thing I'd do to improve this is having the list of players would be useful (although the other solution has those).

Also, not sure if you can exit and resume where you left off, or if you need to do this in one go. If it's the latter, I'd make sure you have at least 2 hours available to do this. I think I had to retry Werth, Gonzales and Fielder twice each, so I beat them on the third try. Even though these were the only guys I had to try multiple times to beat, it still took me 2 hours to do in one sitting. Something to keep in mind before you start that's all.

Great guides posted, so here a couple of tips for anyone still trying.

1. You can quit and come back where you left off. Just make sure you hit continue and not start new, as you'll wipe progress if you hit start new.

2. In addition to reducing stats, you can make everyone righthanded. Couple this with playing at Fenway. I used a lefty (Chipper Jones) with max stats against 20 righties. All in all, didn't have much too difficulty. Nobody really ever hit more than 5 homers facing me, so it just took stringing together a good round of homers to beat each opponent.

I know it's frustrating and I can only post what personally worked for me. Just keep at it. If you think this is bullshit hard, wait until you got for High Crimes. Then you'll really start bitching.

Fenway really did help as I barely beat Pujols with 5 HRs. It took me about 5 tries against him. On my first try I had a 3HR lead and he had 1 out remaining and went on a 3 HR tear to tie me. I thought there would be a tie breaker but even a Tie = Loss. So frustrating.

max out your players power stats and decrease the following players power stats to 25.

1- david ortiz (bos)
2- alex rodriguez (nyy)
3- andre eithier (lad)
4- chase utley (phi)
5- ryan braun (mil)
6- evan longoria (tb)
7- ryan zimmerman (was)
8- miguel cabrera (det)
9- derek lee (chc/ atl with roster updates)
10- adam lind (tor)

after you zip right through the first ten guys, it will get a lot harder! if you lose a round you can continue on from where you left off, so dont get upset and quit out.

11- jayson werth (phi)
12- jason bay (nym)
13- adam dunn (was)
14- carlos pena (tb)
15- mark teixeira (nyy)

these last five guys are absurdly frustrating! even with their stats lowered, they all still have the ability to go on hot streaks and crank out eight homers in a row, like gonzalez kept doing to me. about ten homers is all you will need to beat any of the other fifteen guys, but now your power will take a huge drop and youll be lucky to get ten out. keep re-challenging these last five guys. eventually they will have two bad rounds against you and youll have a window to survive against them then.

16- adrian gonzalez (sd)
17- mark reynolds (ari)
18- ryan howard (phi)
19- prince fielder (mil)
20- albert pujols (stl)

what i did as well as lower their power was lower their eye and contact as well. gonzo was the only hard one for me and took bout 30 min of screaming at him (griffey rules)

Wasted almost 2 hours of my life on this crap guide. Don't bother using this thing unless you don't want an achievement at the end.

Don't listen to that last guy. This guide was very helpful with giving the list of guys to edit. Just because a guide doesn't make a hard achievement a cakewalk doesn't mean it's a bad guide. +1 from me.

gonzalez was the worst! he kept beating me. i think i wasted like a hour of my life swearing at him as he was crushing me. just keep replaying it though. you will eventually get past them all.
