How to unlock the Run the Risk achievement in Major League Baseball 2K10 - Definitive Guide

Stealing can be done very easily against certain pitchers. So easily that I managed to get this achievement using Jeremy Hermida as my base-stealer (obviously he doesn't have very high speed).
It's probably a good idea to use someone with high speed, but as I said, it can be done against certain pitchers that are VERY slow to the plate. Here is a list of pitchers I have noticed are very slow to the plate:

Joba Chamberlain (NYY)
Brad Penny (STL)
Jamie Moyer (PHI)
Andy Sonnastine (TBR)
Johny Lackey (BOS)
Felix Hernandez (SEA)
Mike Gonzalez (BAL Closer)

You can literally steal with anyone against these guys, even your catcher. Just start the steal the moment they start their extremely slow throwing motions, and you'll be fine.

Note: I will be editing this list as I encounter more guys who are extremely slow to the plate.

Tim Lincecum of SF is easy to steal second base on hes harder if you try third. and his teammate Matt Cain is the slowest pitcher i have seen in the game so far every time i face him i can steal every base on him including home. and Scott Olsen of Wash is pretty easy to steal any base on. Hope this helps you for you solution and anyone else trying to get this achievement or just needs steals for their player.

Stealing can be pretty challenging in this game, so I recommend trying for this in a spring training game where you have your 40-man roster. This increases the likelihood of finding a fast player that might not have the all around skills to make the normal roster. The Cubs have a minor league center fielder with a Speed of 94, for instance, that I used in my Franchise when this Achievement unlocked for me.

If you want to work solely toward this Achievement, speed your way through the first six innings against a weak team like Washington, that probably won't pull far ahead of you. If the score is still tied, or you happen to be leading, start intentionally walking the bases loaded and intentionally walk in runs until you are down by one.

Now the challenge is to reach base safely. Either use your speedy player as a pinch hitter to bunt his way onto first base, or if you get a man on base legitimately, hold him at first even if you get a good enough hit for extra bases. Second is far easier to steal than third. Sub in your fastest bench player as a pinch runner.

You probably want at least a three-tap leadoff using the right trigger, holding it until it rumbles to cue up the steal. Let the trigger go as soon as the pitcher starts his throwing motion, but watch for the pickoff attempts. You might want to save your game before the attempt so you can reload if you get thrown out. Keep trying until you reach second safely.
